A full stack is +19 Strength over Virulence. This may not seem like much, but it does have an advantage in uptime. Unholy DKs will be using Scourge Strike more often in 3.3, yielding the full +219 Strength within about 13 seconds. Virulence has excellent uptime, but can fall off due to RNG. Hanged Man should never fall off on simple fights where you can just stick to a boss, and will be back up fairly quickly when you do have to move away for an extended period. I would keep Virulence around for certain fights and of course for PVP however.

For Blood DKs using Death Strike as an FU "Diseases up, Death Runes down" last resort, the rampup time will be longer (typically 23s) and the risk of stacks falling off significantly greater. I don't see it being a compelling upgrade from Virulence at all in that case. Might still be worth a purchase at some point, though a lower priority. Certainly not worth dropping DRM or otherwise messing with spec/rotation over.

TLDR: Unholy should see this one come much closer over time to its maximum value (219).

First thing I thought of when seeing the name was the Tarot card #12: The Hanged Man.

The Hanged Man stands for either betrayal, discoveries or the story of Odin ( A god in norse mythology.)

I'll keep it as short as possible.

Odin's story:
Odin hung himself upside down on Yggdrasil -the world tree- for 9 days in order to be granted wisdom, upon seeing runes below the tree he died, yet he was resurrected because of the wisdom and power in these runes.

Discovery:
It is also said that The Hanged Man is actually The Fool, (the first card in a Tarot deck.) who was meditating for 9 days, then hung himself upside down in the tree he was meditating underneath, The Fool had the idea of seeing both the real and spiritual world because of this.

Betrayal:
While hanging upside down a saint has been crusified. How they refer to this saint as a traitor is beyond my understanding though. maybe they just didn't like him, I don't know.

The Hanged Man also stands for either the will to sacrifise something to gain something in return, OR lack of commitment to a certain goal.
These are just 2 definitions of The Hanged Man, there are much more but this is just a small piece of info.

The Hanged Man is also a Stand in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure used by J. Geil, an assassin with 2 right hands.

I am going to say that blizzard picked Odin's story for the naming of this sigil as Odin comes from norse mythology, something Northrend is based upon in its entirety as far as I am concerned.

Back to the discussion of this sigil.

The sigil itself takes 3 Death Strikes, Obliterates, Scourge Strikes or a mix of them to build up to its maximum potential, yet since it states that it will grant the strength 100% it will be better than before mentioned sigil. meaning it will always be up.

Just as far as I know 15 seconds is more than enough time for runes to finish their cooldown and the playing death knight to hit that skill in their rotation once more to refresh the duration.

This will be a very nice sigil for a frost DW DK as we use Obli when ever possible

Of all specs it will be worst for blood (as said above) but any frost or unholy DK will be very eager to get their hands on this come 3.3

Does not look too exciting compared to Virulence. A lot will depend on fights in ICC and answer to question if we will be able to keep it up easily.

In any case this is so small and questionable upgrade that it will be on last place on my "buy with Emblem of Frost" list.

for blood this does need to either be given a buff to duration of 20 secs to prevent falling off or be switched to be off heart strike our main nuke so as that it falls in line with the others main nuke

This honestly doesn't seem like much of an upgrade at all compared to Virulence.

This sigil grants 219 Strength for 15 Seconds; which needs to be stacked. So that 15 seconds will be shortened by a couple GCDs, making it ~12-13 second uptime.

Virulence grants 200 Strength for 20 Seconds; which does not need to be stacked.

I honestly can't see myself spending the Frost badges on something like this, I'd rather purchase the T10 or Primordial Saronite. I will be sticking with Virulence.

I may be misinterpreting the tooltip.
(I obviously haven't tested this) But if say you're spamming Scourge Strike, and each Strike has let's say a 33% chance to enable this for 15 seconds, then each rotation will likely grant at least 1 proc, even if it doesn't grant the proc, the next time through it will. In which case after about about 30 seconds into a boss fight it would be fairly simple to keep this at 100% up time.
- Guess I'm just waiting to see if this has an internal CD

Your Obliterate, Scourge Strike, and Death Strike abilities grants 73 Strength for 15 sec. Stacks up to 3 times. There's no proccing or chances here.

Just for testing's sake, I tried to stack up a 3 stack of this sigil and swap out for Virulence mid fight, just to see if it was possible with a rotation to balance both procs. I kept finding that the sigils cannot proc if the other sigil's proc is up, which is basically what I expected.

after i ve read the above comments,i didnt see anyone talks about one crusial thing...virulence has a 20sec on dk but hanged man only 15sec.if we calculate the stuck up timer we have 219 str for 12-13 sec..thats 7-8 less secs ppl...im realy comfused about which of these 2 sigils should i use on my unholy dk...ihave the virulence for now...

Clearly doesn't work for Blood DPSers, you just can't get the 3rd stack with the current rotation Blood DKs use,if your Blood don't buy this.If you think that I've just didn't try enough or I'm too slow go try yourself you will see that I'm right.

I've used this on my Blood DK for several months and I have never had any doubt about buying this. Also with people being so obssed with gear scores with PUG's I think this is a good opitunity to get a few more points so the egotical tards who ask for it get what they want.

Another thing to remember with Blood DK's now is we are dropping more strength gems for Arp and with a strength proc like this it's a much welcome boost to our ap and parry that is pretty much up through out a fight.
