The materials for this seem easy enough to get for a miner/engineer. Considering that it does siege damage it could become a very popular tool in the new battleground.

The raw material cost for one of these is (assuming an average of 3 bombs):

2.5-5x Saronite Ore
0.75-1.5x Cobalt Ore
0.125-0.25x Crystallized Water

seems like they got rid of the incapacitate on bombs though, they better make up for this with shorter throw times or something, they shouldnt be long than 1sec or 1.5 sec cast

I do like the ability to damage siege weapons though, there were rumors we could also salvage parts from destroyed tanks so i hope that holds true as well

Could anyone check if it can be used while walking? Not that you need to wait to stant still for 1 sec

We Engeneers will be able to chose 3 granades
Depening on the moment you will be using it or depending on class

Saronite Bomb
1150 to 1500 Fire damage
Instant cast
5 yard radius

Frost Grenade
75 to 125 Frost damage
Freeze/Root
1 Sec cast (now made 3.0.3)
6 yard radius

Adamantite Grenade
450 to 750 Fire damage
incapacitates targets for 3 sec(stun)
1 Sec cast
3 yard radius

The new Saronite Granade is more made of a burst dmg-er or finisher
So mostly used ad the begin or the end of a battle

As for the Frost Granade will be most used as capturing to stop from fleeing or being able to flee urself. And keepmelee some sec from you
As for mages a free shatter to make a Ice Lance bomber

And as last the old Adamantite Grenade to stun a person so you prevent them from using abilities and giving you some cover time to rec(energy) or moving away

The AoE size of this bomb is MASSIVE (About on par with a mages Blizzard). On top of that it's insta cast and has a 10 yard range. Meaning this is perfect for flushing out rogues. If you catch a rogue in stealth or one vanishes near you there is very little chance of error if you drop one of these bad boys.

Lets just say it does 1500 dmg, perhaps raid buffs will increase/crit chance. if spamed every 60 secs this would be 20 dps increase to your dps. Depending on class this could be feasable.

Its odd but has any one else noticed the radius on these is a lot larger then the 5 yards in the tool tip?

This may have been a bug, but I just used one on the outer walls of Wintergrasp Fortress, and it blew up in one hit. Now, I tried it on the internal walls and the big internal door, but it did not have the same effect (was doing about 500 siege damage each bomb). I only had a couple on me so I couldn't try it again on one of the external walls...but I will make a few more and see if I can reproduce this.

It still didn't help us win =/

These are becoming dirt easy to make next patch. The saronite bomb box costs the exact same and gives roughly 30 bombs per box currently.

Want I would like to see is a group of Engineer's Parachute into the Fortress from Icecrown, and proceed to blow up the keep's gate with a large number of bombs and then rush in the capture the fortress. With how ridiculously cheap these are to manufacture now, it would actually be a viable strategy.

Saronite Bombs are instant cast and can be used while moving. Just got my engineering high enough to test these. Excited to use them in WG and Sota. Can't wait until I can get my hands on a Global Thermal Sapper Charge XD

Does using a Saronite bomb reset your swing timer? I haven't been able to get quartz's swing timer to work, so am unable to reliably test this out.

If it does not, these are a great addition to a melee DPS cycle in PvE.

Tried this in Wintergrasp today. It dose about 500 seige damage to walls.
It cannot even be a supportive siege weapon unless Blizzard could lower the cooldown to about 15 sec.

Yes, the bomb can be cast while in movement. It is instant cast, is not on the GCD, and does not reset your swing timer. However, unlike Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket and Gnomish Lightning Generator, this can't be used simultaneously with your normal abilities. You will need to wait for everything else to be on cooldown, since you can't cast anything else while the aoe target circle is active.

EDIT: Actually, if your reaction time and latency are good, you can use this during a global cooldown without adversely affecting your DPS.

This is an excellent point. As a rogue I use these in every fight on every CD and have gotten very good at sneaking them in on GCD or when energy starved.
(1150 + 1500)/2 = 1325 avg dmg
Which works about to be ~22 dps total. I know engineering is a bit behind on profession bonuses, but don't discount this...they are cheap to make and with practice can make a difference over time....it's free dps if you get good at it waiting for GCD/energy/rage/etc...

Both these and the Global Thermal Sapper Charge (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=42641) got nerfed to oblivion recently, sadly, with sapper charges doing a rather pathetic 200ish siege damage now.

If you're a dps class with engineering; it's very helpful to bring a big pile of saronite bombs to every raid.

Because saronite bombs are instant cast and off the global cooldown, you can throw them between casting your abilities. You don't compromise your dps rotation; they're free dps.

It takes a little bit of practice, but after months of doing this I can competently say that you get 30-90 extra dps on boss fights from these (depending on how many mobs there are in the fight).

Using saronite bombs in conjunction with the glove/cloak/boot tinkers makes engineering very competitive with the other profession stat bonuses.

Also, 3.2 increased the blast radius of these things from 5 to 10 yards, making the maximum range that you can hit something with a saronite bomb is now 25 yards.

I love these on my Unholy DK tank for AoE aggro front loading. I'll use this at the end of my rotation when all my runes are on cooldown to keep loading threat until the next rune refresh, since it doesn't interrupt the swing timer, so my autoattacks are working the main target at the same time. Super handy, especially if you have aggro happy DPS or healers.

Note: The Faction Champions do NOT like these at all (especially on the pull). I'm a pally tank who's just grabbed engineering and found that throwing one of these in on Heroic 25 Faction Champions caused them all to aggro onto me, even though one of our warriors had just charged in and spammed demo shout up. I got aggro from a good amount of them. It's nice to see they act like real players, in that they also hate engineers in PvP ;)

Caused a bug in 3.3. Siege Damage respawned the destructible parts of the Frozen Throne in the fight against the Lich King, so Blizzard temporarily removed the Siege Damage from these bombs and Global Thermal Sapper Charges.

I have noticed that these don't do near the damage they did a few months ago. They now appear to cause only around 200-300 dmg. It's unfortunate as that was my aoe attack in Stratholme.

Have these been fixed to not respawn parts of the Frozen Throne? I can refrain from using them in the LK fight if they haven't, because I don't want to end up banned, but it'd be nice to know.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that these only need 350 skill in engineering to use, meaning you can start tossing these at level 50. Most casters around those levels barely survive one of these, so they are epic in pvp. Also you will be topping dps meters only with these in instances when the pulls are big ;) Most tanks can barely hold that aggro though!
