Tier 1 of the epic hammer craftable for blacksmiths. Required 350 blacksmithing in order to learn it, and can be purchased from any of the weapon smiths in the main cities.

Haste rating means attack speed, and from what I'm told the proc on this increases your attack speed by roughly 30% (although I may be wrong, I haven't done any calculations my self because I don't have the hammer).

This item is upgradeable over time by collecting mats outside of the instance, and eventually completely instance drops.

I've this hammer (fury), great weapon indeed. I did some testing with ProcWatch and after 1450 hits I got a 1.4 proc/min.

This very nice mace is crafted by having blacksmithing and being a Master Hammersmith.
You can upgrade the mace as you progress in the game. Getting the first level
simply require you to farm all the mats and getting the skill required. The second step
and last requires quite a bit more than that.

This is amazing weapon as a ench shammy main hand. With slow speed and same (or lower) speed off stormstrike is doing enormous dmg and WF crushes everything. I would choose dual wield rather than 2h for PvP shaman couse this speed weaps are rly good. This plus different lvls of WF on both = death on sight for every classes :).

Very, Very nice weapon for Rogue. I dropped my 375 Skinning/LW to make this, and it's not disappointing whatsoever. A great choice if you want your rogue for massive DPS while sacrificing your Subtlety tree for Combat (5 point mace skill).

Not the best tanking weapon for paladins. I got it for my paladin and I kind of regret it. Since Paladin tank with holy spell damage, my +130 spell damage one hand sword from Murmur (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=27905) has higher SoR tick and ticks much faster than this weapon.

It however works fine with Warrior.

Get this Baby and a 1.3 or 1.4 Dagger in Offhand. With Combat Potency you melt faces.

I'm almost always on the top of SWstats face to face with a sword specced combat rogue... Sword spec is better than mace spec in raid-pve... i would love to have the same extra attack spec...

The mace expertise has no parent on the epic BS upgradeables.

His effect makes her scale with your equip, and even if is one of the slowest weapon, devastate has no CD and also most of the skills while tanking (GCD apart).

Slow weapons are great for tanking, this one specially, big crunchy devastates with no CD? hello?

If you are thinking in fury a 20% xtra speed is way much powerfull than the axe and the sword, and this scales with your equip ... better it gets, the more powerfull the 20% speed is. Think on some quick 2.1 off-hand from the arena and make your day.

Finally if arena is your doings, the best option is the 2h MS mace.

It's up to you, but it seems for me like maces are the best.

By the way, there's a soft cap that blizz has on weapon speed, you cannot drop below a 1.0 weapon speed for ANY weapon. Your tooltip may say 0.8 or 0.7 speed, but the faster you can go is 1.0. Thanks for fatmike for that.

Been grinding the mats for this hammer and the upgrades like crazy recently. Now have enough soloable mats and working on nethers (farming heroics) and need only 4 vortex. Lucky enough to be in a guild doing SSC and TK.

Now all I need is BS up to the required lvl and I am good to go with a straight out upgrade from lvl 1 to lvl 3. Cant wait.

For warrs...

According to one poster, 1.4 procs/min is 14 seconds per minute, is roughly 23% of the time this will be up. 23% of the time, you will have +20% *white* damage. That puts you at a little less than +5% for your white damage, which, however is not the majority as it is for rogues, but 40-50%, making it a rather marginal +2% overall damage and extra burst damage for each proc.

In other words, while it is still the best, it's not by a huge margin if you compare that 2% overall to the persistent stats lost for the proc. You can theorycraft the benefits of the rage and additional HS's, but critting does the same thing, albeit without stacking. I'm sure it's great for an awesome 10 seconds of recklessness executing though.

Roughly 12% faster, not 20%.

this weapon for pala tanks is really nice. with the fast attackspeed when it procs = more holy dmg (from seal of blood or rightousness) witch in turn = more threat generated

As of 2.4.2, this weapon is now no longer Unique and it is listed as One-hand, so you may offhand and/or dual wield.

The haste proc does not appear to stack, but the uptime is obviously increased by dual wielding. Combined with flurry for fury warriors, the attack speed drops to 1.9. I haven't enchanted mine with mongoose but I imagine that the lightning speed proc from mongoose would stack as well. This may also stack with haste potion.

Theorycraft needed on whether or not its more beneficial to dual wield drakefists versus dual wielding something with passive stat boosts.

Here is a quick guide to making this hammer :D

The Hard Materials needed to make the hammer are:

200 Mote of Fire. (20 Primal Fire)
200 Mote of Earth. (20 Primal Earth)
24 Eternium Ore. (12 Eternium Bar)
16 Khorium Ore. (8 Khorium Bar)

If your a miner, the motes of fire and earth can be mined.

Motes of earth can be mined usually from Adamantite Deposits both rich and normal. It should be noted that eternium ore, which you need to make this hammer, can also come from Adamantite Deposits, as well as other ore veins/deposits.

And from personal experience the best place to farm Adamantite is in Nagrand. (This shows the locations of normal adamantite deposits.)

Khorium Ore is by far the hardest of these mats to attain, although the small amount needed makes it worth it. Khorium Ore can be mined from Khorium Veins, I suggest having your epic mount if your going to farm khorium, to make it much less of a pain to get. Khorium veins can be found in all zones of outland, but stay away from Hellfire Peninsula, know also that these are a rare vein, and thus why it is a pain to farm.

For motes of fire, I would check out Hellfire Peninsula, easily the best place to farm Fel Iron Ore and motes of fire at the same time. Mined from Fel Iron Deposits.

If your not a miner, and you need the motes.

They can be farmed from elemental type mobs of there own trade, earth elementals will drop motes of earth, and the same for the motes of fire.

If you have your flying mount you can go to the thrown of elements in the northeast corner of nagrand and farm the elementals there, there are elementals from every type, fire, wind, water, and earth.

If you don't have a flying mount, Fire elementals can be found also in Shadowmoon Valley, just in the center of the map at the base of large mountain, where the lava pits are. You can also find the earth type elementals around there as well.

Farm the Enraged Fire Spirts and Enraged Earth Spirits. (Note: the earth spirits have less of a chance to drop earth motes than the fire spirits do. So if you feel up to it you can find other earth elementals for better drop rates. I suggest this way only because you can farm both at the same time in same area with a decent respawn rate and little to none interferance from pvp. However there is one quest chain that may cause some problems, but it was for Black Temple attunment i believe and now is not required to complete.)

This isn't true at all, maybe 1 fight out of 10. This thing proc's usually once a fight, sometimes twice, and stacks with flurry

the previous posters comment was incorrect. this hammer actually only requires level 350 blacksmithing to make. the later tiers however require level 375 blacksmithing. all tiers of this weapon require level 70

Combat Mace Rogue here...Took a screenshot of my character info window open while SnD, BF, the haste proc from Drakefist Hammer, and the proc from Blackout Truncheon were all up at the same time.

The 2.7 sec swing of Drakefist Hammer becomes 1.32. The 1.5 sec swing from Blackout Truncheon becomes 0.73. More than 2x swing speed FTW. With the carryover effect on BF, we're looking at Quad Damage. Sick.

I am a level 67 paladin and blacksmith at level 350.
I'm very curious about my speed with my https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=19343/scrolls-of-blinding-light and a weapon proc with this hammer and seal of the crusader.

SotC increases weapon speed by 40% and attack power by 412.
The trinket increases the haste by 330 (20,9% at level 70)
The weapon proc increases the haste by 200 (12,7% at level 70)

so correct me if i'm wrong, but this adds up to 73,6% speed increase. or 1,736x normal speed

Would this mean my weapon speed will be 0,7128?
I wanna test it, can anyone tell me if I am right about this? :S

That's a massive amount of haste for me. I get my hammers down so close to a 1 flat hit rate.
That mixed with Windfury is madness.

Can't wait to upgrade to Dragonmaw and get Mongoose (Increase Agility +120 and attack speed slightly) enchant on it.

Many people here seem to be a bit confused as to how all the haste and selfbuff speed abilities like Snd/BF/Heroism etc. stacks up. so i'll try to explain.

Lets say you have a 3.0 speed weapon and you have 3 buffs that increase your speed by 10 20 and 30% each.

Many people figure them to stack like this:

3.0*(10+20+30)%

or in other words think they get a total of 60% reduction of the 3.0 speed and get to 1.2

The above example is not what happens, this is:

3.0*( (1-10/100) * (1-20/100) * (1-30/100) )

What happens here is that all the attackspeed reductions effect each other. i'll make a fairly comprehensible example to explain:

"Imagine having a cake and you tell your 10 friends to take 10% of the cake each. you wont let all of them take a 1/10th of the cake.. you let em take a piece 1 at a time, so the first one to take a piece gets a nice big piece.. but now the cake has reduced in size, so there for the next person can only take 10% of what is left. and so on with every person taking a smaller part of the cake each time. in the end resulting with only 75%~ of the cake being taken."

the same thing applies to the attackspeed.

3.0 - 30% = 2.1
2.1 - 20% = 1.68
1.68 - 10% = 1.512

On a last comment i think all the haste procs might work together in 1 category.. since X amount of haste converts into X amount of attackspeed reduction. having an item proc 200 haste and another item proc 300 haste that might not be a 20% and 30% reduction seperatly but a 50% by itself. few comments i've seen seem to suggest that it might be 20 and 30 seperatly. but characther list suggests that it would be a 50%, using round numbers anyway.

I've thought about.. What if I upgrade my Drakefist Hammer to Dragonmaw, wouldn't it be possible to make another Drakefist Hammer? It's unique, but after upgrading, does it still count as i ware a Drakefist Hammer and a Dragonmaw? If not... Oh god...

Yes, i absolutely MUST know which would be better for my enhancement specd shammy (lvl 61 currently) On a side not, i usually out dps everyone in instances (around my level). At first, i thought i would get thunder (im probably gonna do raiding, farming, and pvp on the side) Which should i get? drakefist hammer or thunder?

And, hypothetically, that i get the drakefist hammer, what should i couple it with?

I did some calculations, if this procs along with flurry the attack speed would be as following: 2.70 - 30% = 1.89 - 19% = 1.53 (rounded)
Then: you have a 1.53 atk speed so the new regular dps before adding ap and such would be
(159 / 1.53 + 296 / 1.53)/2 = 148.7 dps with this proc and 121.75 with just flurry.

For thunder, the dps would be 156.6 with flurry and no ap... But im not sure which would be better? sure thunder would be inane with WF crits to about 2.5k+, but with drake fist, 121.75 is minimal dps with flurry without even adding in the offhand...

So, i 'm not sure which to pick, thunder or drakefist and something else

Located near the forge in the lower city.
It's like 10 meters east from the Scryers Bank.

The recipe costs 10 gold and you need Master Hammersmith and Blacksmithing 350.

But you can also buy it from the weapons trainer near the forge in Orgrimmar or Ironforge.

I currently have upgraded drakefist to the teir 3 dragonmaw, its nice for pvp with mace spec and the haste rating is good. the lowest ive ever got my MH speed to was 1.06 from 2.70 i had BF snd heroisim mace proc and 2 mongoose going.. was nice but rare

I was swordspecrogue, but since I switched to maces I just HAD to make a new thott account. Here is my weaponsmithing story.

It starts with me having a lot of extra cash and a blank profession slot right next to my master enchanting (I was a tailor for a while just to make stuff to DE, but in the end it got too expensive, dropped it at about 260), and I wanted a kickass weapon that would make everyone go ZOMGSOLEET. So like I said, I was a sword spec rogue, so I began to lvl up blacksmithing from scratch in the hopes of eventually making Fireguard. The first 100 lvls were fairly cheap, as I lvled up on rough stones and copper and bronze bars. Then it got more expensive.

The iron and steel era wasnt terrible, but over time it hurt my wallet. Once I got into the 200s, where mithril and thorium are more than a few gold per stack, I figured out how to make my enchanting pay for my blacksmithing. Id do an instance or two, get a couple of large prismatic shards, and trade them directly for the bars I needed. After I got past 300, fel iron and adamantite lvling recipies only required a few bars per lvl, instead of over half a stack per lvl. Before I knew it, I was at 350.

But then I began to think: Hey, fireguard is cool and all, but is it EPIC? I know its purple, but theres not anything distinguishing it from any other sword. Also, 1.60 speed is nice, but there are faster weapons out there for combat potency. So I decided to make this piece of crap instead.

How many items like this are you ever gonna see? EVER? Well, theres the 2 upgrade of this, but other than that theres the mace that drops off the second boss in Shadow Labrynth, with just under 70 DPS. So I payed the 100g to switch to macesmith, bought 20 primal earth for 45g, traded valuables and shards for 20 primal fire, and bought the khorium and eternium. But what's a mace without mace SPEC?

I'm doing pve, not pvp. Now before you go "OMG NOOB MACES ARE FOR PVP SWORDS ARE DA PVE U SUX!", think about it. I know that as you get further and further into raiding mobs become immune to stun. I know that swords have 5% chance on hit to hit again. BUT, and this is a big but, chance on hit for 212 haste! Thats about 15% attack speed for 10 seconds. By itself that is pretty darn good for a chance on hit, but with an abacus of violent odds, blade fury, slice and dice, you attack twice as fast. Haste also means more energy because of combat potency, which means more damage again. AND 5% crit dmg is nice also.

Not to mention the effectiveness on mobs that CAN be stunned. I have singlehandedly saved my group time and time again from wipe just by throwing in a quick stun. Tank getting hit a little too hard? A mob breaking off and going for the healer? Mace stun will fix that right up, or if ur not that lucky a kidney shot. 3 seconds might not seem like a long time but believe me, it is. Even if its not an emergency, its always good to have stuns. Ive had tanks thank me when my mace stun proced or for using my combo pts on kidney shot instead of eviscerate just because it gave them a breather, even for a few seconds.

Im working on getting the 8 primal nethers needed to upgrade this to Dragonmaw, and I just got enough honor to get the Gladiator's Bonecracker (the OH 1.50 speed gladiator mace) even though Blizz lost 500 of my honor somewhere. O well ill just /wrist more. Upgrading from 360 to 375 BS is gonna be a pain though. From 360 to 365 I've been making Felsteel Whisper Knives even though their yellow, and I was lucky enough for the Ragesteel Shoulder plans to drop for me so I'm lvling from 365 onwards with those.

The moral of this story is, for the most part swords are better than maces for PvE for raw DPS, BUT (and i cant stress this BUT enough) THIS SPECIFIC MACE is better than a comparable sword.

currently farming stuff for this , its ideal for pallys using seal of righteousness when your 'shockadin specced' the faster you hit the more spell damage you also do , pair this weapon with mongoose and it makes a great farming weapon , certianly wouldnt use it in instances as healing gear is much more important , but for pve and pvp its a great weapon.
