Drops from Nexus-Price Shaffer ( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/npc=18344 ) in Auchindoun: Mana-Tombs. He's the last boss in there.

Also, only alchemists can see it, so only alchemists can roll on it.

Drops in both Normal and Heroic difficulty.

I think the drop rate here is actually higher than what is published. The difference being that not all parties that kill this boss have an alchemist that needs the pattern. As far as I can tell, it will only be seen on the boss if an alchemist that needs it tries to loot the corpse at some point.

I can confirm the recipe drops in heroic, got it from him tonight.

Extremely retarded fight by the way :/ I solo healed it as a 70 resto shaman. Mage pulled with pyroblast one one beacon, I hit it with a lightning bolt and a frost shock then ran in to drop my totems. Ret paladin (who was healing the rest of the instance) and the shadow priest killed one of the other two beacons. We then ignored them and burned the boss. Heroism, haste potions, everything. Killed him and wiped to the adds. Blessing of Freedom helps tons.

Since only alchemist who doesnt have it learned already can see the recipe drop, the % showed here is not really accurate.

You have to use WoW's Armory which give:

Nexus-Prince (Heroic) Low (15% - 24%)

Nexus-Prince Very Low (3% - 14%)

This recipe has a much higher drop rate on heroic difficulty according to the armory. I got it during my first run on Heroic difficulty, drop rate on heroic is 15-20% and on non-heroic it is 1-2%.

I decided to farm this on my 80 (disc) Priest. Some of the pulls can be a bit tricky, but you are able to skip the Voidwalker and Rock bosses completely. Be sure to clear the room with the Prince, or else the entire room aggros when you engage him... I learned that the hard way. The Prince himself is very easy, does minimal damage himself and his arcane balls.

I had thought that all dungeon recipes had their droprate upped to 100%, but I think that might only be the case for certain enchanting recipes (such as the ones from Karazhan trash/bosses). It took me 3 kills to get this recipe from the Prince.

i killed him over 10 times and still no recipe. do you guys think if i send blizz an extra 15$ a month that they finally start giving me the drops that i need?

Update: i´ve killed him over 30+ times now in normal mode and still no recipe. HC is out of the question because i´m not a prot pala. i´m farming all the resist pots so i can discover the cauldrons because i think it would be cool to throw one up in a raid. this is the last dropped recipe i need. the grind wouldn´t be as bad if i got consortium rep. but either my lvl prevents me from that or one cant get rep in norm after honored.

and i also want to add that although the mobs in normal can be mind controlled, they´re immune in HC. if i could MC i could do heroic. shaffar is a caster so most of of his spells would miss anyway. the trash can still be feared though. whic makes me ask the question, why do mobs 10lvls lower than me have a near 100% chance to hit me in melee but less than 50% chance with spells?
why should clothies be punished for having chosen a cloth class.? 90% of the non-damage mechanics in the game are anti-caster, compared to a couple disarms here and there for melee.

50+kills, still no recipe, rivendares deathcharger was easier to farm

Dropped off the Prince in Mana Tombs, last boss. Only I could see the recipe, being that I was the only Alchemist.

Dropped for me as well off Nexus-Prince Shaffar. Two Alchemists were there, I was 375 and the other was 315. Because the recipe is 360, he couldn't see it and I was the only one given need/greed option.

I obtained this recipe at 355 Alchemy, so I don't think that you have to be able to use it to find it.

Also, if anyone is looking for the potions, Smaken can craft on Alleria.

Answering to my own question.. it dropped for me on a heroic run on June 15th in Taiwan Server. So.. both normal and heroic mode drop this!

I got this on my second time through, and the mats arent that bad as it does not create one potion, but five.

Remember that even if it does drop and there IS an alchemist to roll on it, other people who don't see it STILL won't have it recorded in the thottbot parser, if 5 people who have the mod run it, and 1 is an alchemist, and it drops, you still have 4 people reporting to thottbot that it didn't drop. Just food for thought.

It dropped for me on heroic mode and I was the only alchemist in the group.

Its worth noting, I did NOT GET A LOOT WINDOW for this. I could only see it by checking the body of the prince -- which I did to pick up my badge and spirit shards fortunately.

So if you're the only alchemist in the group (quite likely), you better check the body manually, you may not get a loot window.

This recipe dropped for me yesterday on a heroic Mana Tombs run.. (my first complete run) .. im so happy with that

And after get the recipe i made a some potions and Discovery the Cauldron xD

Now only lefting Fire and Holy protection recipes

Those drop rates are absurd. It should be 100% if there's an alchemist in the group. Takes hours to complete an instance, heroic or regular. The shadow and arcane protection recipes drop from a little grinding in Shadowmoon and Nagrand, respectively. And those two have far greater utility!
