This is pretty easy once you figure it out, but make sure to use the AE knockback before you try and pick up the storm cloud to heal yourself, more likely to pick up the cloud then pick up an undead.

Absolutely awesome quest.

Basically these are the moves you get while riding the giant.

1. A stomp that hurts the people around you, have to target something nearby
2. A cone push back ability, any mobs in front of you will get knocked backwards including other giants.
3. Pick up stuff, either the elites you can throw at other things for damage or you can pick up storm clouds which randomly spawn and float about to heal yourself.
4. Throw whatever you picked up

Movement is the same and you can jump around as well. To dismount you just click the leave vehicle button like many other things in Northrend

After finishing it you can stay around to fight any giants on the opposing faction making for some fun giant on giant action.

Took 10 minutes to figure out what the storm clouds look like.

Bug in the game where you pick up a storm cloud and the giant wants to throw it instead of use it.

Hard to target what to pick up. Even harder to get him to throw the enemies right. Half the time he just drops them on himself.

The Prince does a shadow cast that takes 50% of the giant's life real easy. He also resets real easy if you run to get a storm cloud so guess what you have to fight him all over again.

After the 3rd or 4th time of beating the Prince after resets you will fight the big guy and once again he easily Evades and resets.

After 4 Prince evade and resets and 3 Thrym evade and resets I deleted this quest from my queue and then discovered I was still in combat, couldn't leave combat, couldn't logout and couldn't even quit the game. I had to kill the game from the desktop. Totally not worth 30-45 minutes of trying to level in a bugged out quest.

I REALLY want to like this quest because it's so cool, but once again Blizzard bugs it up as usual.

Algar the Chosen can be killed at anytime; however you must kill Prince Navarius in order to activate Thrym who stands (inactive) on a wall above Prince Navarius (32,64). Once the Prince is dead, Thrym jumps down and becomes killable.

Great quest. Also, I had some fun fighting other players on the backs of their giants during the quest so if you time it right you can get some hot giant on giant action in. It's hilarious to do the knockbacks vs. other giants and race around trying to be the first to storm clouds. I definitely had a lot of fun both doing the quest and fooling around afterward before turning it in. =D

knockback/target cloud..grab..he always picke dup something else

maybe was just me, but that was my issue and i had to drop and pick up again cause i couldn't heal up and never got the objectives finished :(

So, I let my giant die, and I no longer have the 'key' in my baggy to let him out again and redo this quest. Anyone know how to fix it? I tried going back to the questgiver who gave me the explosives, and no luck. Thanks!

Without a doubt the buggiest quest I've come across yet.

I killed the 100 scourge and the first 2 quest mobs and then killed Navarius 4 times and never got credit. I abandoned the quest and tried again and got the same result.

My assumption is that because everyone attempting the quest is instanced in the same version, they tag "your" mob and you get no credit.

I would wait to do this quest until there is absolutely NO ONE else around doing it at the same time.

This is such a cool quest. First of all, there's fifty people all trying to get the same guy. Second, Thrym never spawns for me. And third, Gymer loves those storm clouds so much, he'll run around with them all day. Until he actually needs one. Then he'll throw it away.

Pass. I've got far better things to do.

Surely a fun quest after a patch or 2. As it is now, I found this very irritating. Stupid giant refuses to use the clouds for healing, instead he inists on just picking them up.

If you have trouble getting Thrym to show (I did for almost an hour), he only shows *after* you kill the Prince. If you fail and go back, just kill the Prince again. You will also have to re-kill the Prince if you run away to heal and lose agro as this causes Thrym to despawn. Make sure there is a healing Storm Cloud nearby that will be unused. One spawns behind the Prince himself, but that seems to get lost while fighting him. There is another in the little ruined square thing next to him that heals. A third is in front of the ramp that is too small for the giant to get up. Thrym spawns instantly after the Prince dies so be ready if you are low from a mob of Scourge.

If you're on his abck head Northeast to the Reliquary of Pain and start attacking Algar. Spam skills 1 and 2. Then sometimes hit 3, when you have a Vargul in your hand hit 4 to kill a lot of scourge. Wgen you kill Algar, find a storm cloud (click on it and use 3 to pick it up). Then head south to Prince N. Do the same. When he's dead find a storm cloud again then head back where you killed him. Thrym will spawn. Immidiately attack him and spawn you abilities. DO NOT leave melee range or he will kill you easily. Good luck!

It does seem pretty buggy, earlier when I was trying to fight the prince, my giant got stuck in some kind of cower animation, I couldn't use the dismount button so I had to wait there until he died and go again.

As an aside: no one has mentioned it but the alert on the screen about needing a storm cloud badly or needing one and being about to die is a nod towards the old game Gauntlet, where a voice would call out "<Class> needs food, badly" and "<Class> is about to die!" when you were low on health.

Prince Navarius is a little bitty glowing ball, and easy to miss. He is actually a regular sized character, but you aren't. I found him all bundled up in a Paladin type bubble, so look for that.

As everyone else, I had trouble with this one. But after about 30 minutes, I managed to get it done. There are only a few storm clouds down where you fight Prince, and then Thrym. One spawns in the corner by the prince, another spawns on a small hill to the west-northwest a bit. Whenever I went further away than that, Thrym would reset. I suggest making sure that the one in the corner is there when you tap Prince, so that you can grab it right after you defeat him and before Thrym comes after you. Then make your way to that other one while fighting Thrym. Once I figured this out, everything worked perfectly and I downed Thrym with 50% health left. (Obviously, neither of these clouds was bugged on my realm, though many of them up by the Algar were).

Also, be sure to tour Zul'drak while on the giant. I cleared out the whole map in about 5 minutes, even if it was irritating to have to jump over tiny obstacles. One other fun item: be sure to take a swim in the lake to the south! The animation doesn't scale up to size very well, resulting in a normal swim speed (which is a CRAWL for a giant) and the giant actually swims about 10 feet above the surface of the water, when you're at the surface... funny bugs make up for the annoying bugged clouds earlier!

Fun quest... until it becomes infuriating. I nearly pulled a Bill O'Reilly on it. Good luck tagging the bloody bosses if any other players are around. And you can't see their names to invite them, so essentially everyone kills each boss one at a time, while everyone else waits for it to respawn, and by then a new questgoer has shown up to try to steal the tag. I gave up on this bullcrap, but may try it again sometime between 3-7am server time.

Update: I did go back and do it this morning. The quest is easy as I expected, when you're not fighting other players for tags. It's not even necessary to pick up storm clouds when fighting any of the bosses, so long as you are already full or near full health when you engage. Just mash your 1 key, and if you've attracted a great deal of little mobs, turn around once in a while and press 2. Again, I strongly advise you to do this quest during offpeak hours, otherwise you'll most likely be throwing away a large amount of time that could be better spent elsewhere.

I had trouble with Algar as I would attack him, but no damage was being taken off. Eventually I had to find a cloud and heal and keep at it. Eventually after a few minutes his health started to get knocked off and then it was pretty simple. For some this quest was a breeze, for others there were bugs. You do get a blue reward though so keep it up. =]

Make sure you use auto-attack (usually right mouse click on the target, hits for 8-9k) in addition to his special abilities and the quest becomes a lot easier. I killed first 2 guys only using special abilities, dont make that mistake too. To heal yourself just grab a cloud (target cloud and press 3) and hold it, dont throw it, it will heal you for a good amount over some time.

A few things.

First off, this bugs like hell, so be ready for it. If you pick up a Storm Cloud and it does not heal you, drop it and move on -- it's bugged. While traveling, use your AOE knockback every time it's up to minimize the damage you take.

Bosses:

Algar the Chosen: Tank and spank, very easy.

Prince Navarius: Slightly harder. When he uses soul deflection, STOP ALL DPS. If you keep going all out on him, you'll kill yourself, which is not a good thing.

During boss fights, beat the crap out of him, and then when the scourge gather close enough, use your AoE knockback. Throwing things is fun, but this quest is buggy enough, and I wouldn't risk leashing/glitching anything by doing that.

For those of us (like me) with older computers, this quest can be pretty tough on them - the video starts getting really jerky. Reducing my video quality settings in the user interface before mounting up helped a lot.

How can anyone possibly enjoy this quest? Sure, it looks like fun in theory but zooming in as far as possible to get a better look at what I was doing was pointless: Instead of zooming into where I was (on TOP of the giant) I was zoomed in as if I was at the giant's feet. What the...?

Zooming all the way out (i.e. a birdseye view) was even worse because all I could see was the top of the giant...everything attacking me was nowhere in my line of sight. I could hear them but was unable to see what I was fighting.

Not being able to see what you're doing made this one of the quickest abandoned quests ever.

I had no problem killing Navarius and Thrym, and the storm clouds worked for me more often than not. But I've killed Algar 5 times now without getting credit, and yes, each time I had tagged him. I reported it, and Blizzard said "Abandon the quest and pick it up again from the quest-giver." So I did. Which of course reset the whole quest. This time I started out with killing Algar, and for whatever reason it's still not recognized. So yeah, I'd say don't even try this until after a few patches. The concept is really neat. The execution is abysmal.

For those who don't get the reference when it says "Grymer needs a Storm Cloud Badly" it is a reference to the old game Gauntlet in which if someone, say the green wizard, is low on health the game would say "Green Wizard needs food badly"

This was hard to accomplish but I managed it after more than a few false starts, trick I found that worked for me, was to look where the named mob was, run there fast grab a cloud and kinda hope u got your 100 scourge in the process of that, no tips, just sheer luck, and dogged perserverance.

90% of the time, the storm clouds don't work, just behave like a mob the giant grabbed.

Camera management is also a right pain in the a**.

Nice quest rewards, but don't waste your time until Blizz gets the bugs worked out ... if ever

Stupid quest, indeed. As said above, other giants can attack you and knock you back. Take care while fighting Thrym, since some bad manner players may try to knock you away of the aggro range, and steal Thrym. (It happens cause they're pretty stupid and don't know how to summon Thrym, btw)

Just did this quest tonight, and I loved it. Didn't have any problems killing any of the guys. Didn't have any problem picking up storm clouds. It was just tons of fun. The best advice is to make sure that you are auto attacking. I had to flee from my first battle because I was barely doing any damage to him with my special attacks alone. When I realized that I needed to auto attack, he went down fast.

Terrible quest. I was unable to survive long enough to kill the last boss. The health clouds are a complete joke and the fact that you have to kill the last 2 bosses each time is ridiculous. That doesn't include the ally doing the same quest ganking the whole time. I was unable to finish so I gave up.

I finished it today with little trouble. I did have to kill Algar twice, as the first time I encountered him low on health (didn't see any other giants around, so assuming someone failed and died just before I got there) and when I killed him that time, it didn't count, so I ran around and waited for him to respawn. Killed that time and got the credit.

A few helpful hints about this quest.

First and foremost, yes it is going to be hard to see. The easiest way (and it's not going to be great) is to zoom OUT as much as possible. You'll see a lot of giant and little else, but that's the best it gets.

Second, part of this quest is to kill 100 scourge. Do NOT go looking for scourge to complete this part, trust me, they will find you. Find Algar and the Prince first, and kill them, you will kill plenty of scourge along the way, and during the fights, and after the fights...

Third! This one is really important! <Gymer need Stormcloud!> This frustrated the hell out of me during this quest, because I could find the stormcloud, i clicked it, I right-clicked it, I clicked it multiple times, I stood in it, around it...nothing would heal me. If you'll look down at your new action bar you have 4 abilities, an earthquake looking button that does AoE damage, a redish button that does an AoE knockback +damage, a bloody hand that picks up Vargyl and picks up stormclouds to heal yourself and then another hand that throws a Vargyl if that's what you're holding.
So Click the stormcloud, then click the bloody hand. It will heal almost your full health (depending on what level you're at when you click it of course)

Fourth, as best as possible, run along roads. Your aggro radius is ridiculous, as a hunter I could see the armies of undead running towards me and it isn't pretty.Every now and then, stop and kill them all. Otherwise they will keep following you, right up to the bosses and then you're fighting 300 undead plus the boss. There is a way to kind of reset them and leave combat! There is a ramp at that leads up to the argent strand, run up there, and around the corner to the left. Go a few paces and stop, very few undead will follow you up there! You can kill them. And then, look down and you can see the Prince! Jump down (no fall damage!) and you won't catch any extra adds :D

The Prince Nevarius fight. PAY ATTENTION, he does a soul reflection spell, it shows up in yellow across your screen, it shows up as a debuff, AND it shows up as a channeled spell under his name plate! STOP DPS during this spell! You AREN'T HURTING HIM! You will be reflecting all that damage onto yourself!

After you kill him, quickly look for a stormcloud, but don't go far! Thyrm will appear then and if you run away you'll have to kill the Prince again to spawn Thyrm.

Lastly, for some reason, he doesn't auto attack after you do a damaging spell. You have to hit your "T" button, or right click your target. This will add so much more damage, and make the fights so much easier!

This quest was fun, but kinda hard to find the people you need to kill.
Algar the Chosen is at: 31, 49. He is flying around.
Prince Navarius: if you run up the stairs at 32, 66 you can wait their until the adds die off or you kill them. You will see him standing in a huge purple bubble around 32, 63. Just jump down and start wailing on him. I took him out without a fight. As soon as you kill him Thrym will appear. Be sure to fight him and as soon as it says you need a storm cloud run and get one. I was luck enough and found one at 31, 64 just west of where I was. Not far at all.

Here is a useful macro to help with the visual problems, it increases the maximum view to 50 units, from the default of 25. You need to scroll all the way out for it to work, but it is better than being stuck with the camera between the giant's legs.

Had trouble with the quest myself, the comments about how to pick up the storm clouds where a great help. Killed algar without too much trouble. Navarius is tough to kill with melee, but picking up undead and tossing them down, works just great. Went to far away to find healing and Thrym despawned the first time. Second time after killing Navarius someone else tagged and killed Thrym, which didn't please me. Third time got it all working right, killed Navarius, grabbed the storm cloud behind him to heal, then just let loose on Thrym.

Begin the quest talking with Gymer(at 20,57) then u have 4 abilities 1.gymer's smash; 2. Gymer's roar; 3. Gymer's grab (importante to get an storm cloud and healing yourself) and 4. gymer's throw. Use them and will finish very easy.

Great idea for a quest - I expected it to be fun when I started it. I'm not impatient or thick in the head, I read the quest log, read everything the giant said, read the tooltips for all the abilities, then tested them a bit, then started... and found out after 5 minutes or so that it's simply an awful quest. You'd expect this to be a fast and furious rampage through hordes of undead but the giant just doesn't do much damage, at least not enough to kill 100 scourge reasonably fast.

Abandoning this quest right now and not looking back.

i spent approx 10-15 mins running around squishing scourge and found ONE storm cloud in that time. without the storm clouds being available, taking on the 3 main targets is impossible.

of course, the camera angle is appalling, but i guess you would have a pretty bad view if you sat on top of a giant...

blizz need to go back and have a look at this one.. the least they could do is improve the spawn rate of the clouds. i ended up just dropping the quest and moving on. i play wow for the fun and this quest simply isn't any fun, it's just frustrating.

Can someone describe a storm cloud? I've tried this three times so far and I haven't seen a single one (at least that I recognized as one). Does it spawn near the ground? at the giant's eye level? in the air above his head?

A fun quest, in my opinion (still, Blizzard's gotta work pretty damn hard to top the Frost Wyrm attack in the Death Knight starting region, and the Fel Reaver rampage in Shadowmoon Valley), but it does have its problems:
1) The Storm Clouds are annoying, mostly because Gymer doesn't bother to explain anything about them (and then proceeds to, with very poor grammar, shout that he "needs one badly" every 5 seconds when his health gets down below 50%). You have to work the details (pick them up, and attack while holding one to get the heal buff) out by yourself, by which point it's probably easier to just jump off and get back on him.
2) The SWARMS of Scourge get irritating REAL fast. Yes, you have to kill 100, but that's no excuse to throw 100 *THOUSAND* at us.
3) The camera. If you're going to make a quest where you have to ride something that damn big, then give us a *!@#ing camera that can zoom out that far! Even with the camera as far back as possible, Gymer easily takes up AT LEAST 2/3 of the screen.

It was a good quest idea, but Blizzard should've taken a little more time to implement it so that you don't rip your hair out from frustration.

I don't know if you're supposed to be able to do this, but I'm riding Gymer around the Alter of Quetz'lun killing lvl 77 mobs with a couple of hits each. The area is way, way east (around 70, 56ish) and I'm getting lots of easy XP.

I just managed to kill Navarius and Thyrm on the fifth attempt and it was SO frustrating. I'm not sure why what I did worked, but if it helps someone else reading this then it's worth it. Basically I headed straight to Navarius (I killed the first two with no problems on the first attempt) and grabbed a Storm Cloud on the way, picking up the first one I saw, as it still left three of them near the fight. Once I'd engaged Navarius, I spammed everything I had. On the other attempts I ignored the picking up enemies and throwing them abilities (3 and 4) and severly underated them. In my final attempt I used those a lot more and Navarius must've died in about 6 or 7 seconds, it was scarily easy. Thyrm will spawn behind you but you can't attack him right away, I used this time to grab the Storm Cloud that was right where Navarius died and I did the same thing with Thyrm, primarily attacked with the first ability, used the second one whenever I could and inbetween I would use 3 and 4. I had to grab the other Storm Cloud that's nearby (it's in the little square ruined area) and went back to work on Thyrm and eventually it paid off.

Just to clear up a few things: it seems that the Storm Cloud are heals over time, you just target them and then pick them up with ability 3. Not sure what throwing them would do, I didn't use the 4th ability while I was getting healed (you can see a light on Gymer while he's healing. Also, it does take a few seconds before you see the effects of the heals so be patient because those few seconds will seem like forever.

Tried it three times and all three times it was bugged. No matter what I did, Algar wouldn't die. Stuck at 1% for a long time and finally killed him. Only to discover I got no credit for the kill. So, I died and went back to get Gymer and try again. I couldn't get Algar from 100% and died again. This quest might work for some, but after 30 minutes, I said bah. I don't need it that bad.
It seemed like it could be fun though, but too buggy for me.

Something from the prince hits hard... very hard. 75600 to be exact. It is a high nuisance so be careful. Even with a storm cloud it can kill you very easily. Some tips would be nice for me, as well as anyone else who's getting annoyed at it.

Camera view really messed me up. And why I can't jump over fences that are relatively a few feet high is beyond me.

The first two went down easy and when I finally managed to be at full health for Thyrm, got him after a couple of tries.

Was so frustrated by this quest may just skip it on toon 2 and 3.

If you target a cloud then it doesnt mean he will actually pick it up when hitting that skill.

I found it easier to get those bosses down while pulling/holding an elite mob in my hand and throwing it whenever the cooldown was over. This does massive damage to those bosses.

I've also seen that you can get 'knocked' off the giant while you're still at 50%. Don't know what's that about...

I had a horrible time trying to finish this quest, most because some of the storm clouds wouldn't heal me.

I finally figured out something that may help others. The storm cloud directly behind Prince Navarius wouldn't heal me at all. It acted like it was another scourge that I had grabbed. I realized that when you grab a storm cloud, if you can still see its name above it while it's in your hand, then it's not doing any healing.

I had to kill the Prince so many times so that Thrym would spawn just because I kept trying to get that one cloud to work. I finally had to just run for it and find a cloud that would work and then run back to Thrym before he despawned.

Hopefully this helps some of you.

I ended up killing both Algar the Chosen and Prince Navarius 4-5 times before I got credit. to get credit for the kill you MUST walk up to him and use melee attacks. you can't just use the throw ability and kite him around.

i found that instead of zooming all the way out (which is still hard to see), zooming all the way in is much easier to see. FPS isnt the view i prefer in wow, but it gets the job done in this quest.

On top of the camera view disaster, My server seemed to have bugged and no one can seem to find prince and algar. I just ended up dropping the quest in frustration.

I suggest avoiding this quest unless you REALLY want that rare gear. otherwise its not worth the effort.

What do you do if you get on him, and you cant see anything? I went to all the places you were supposed to go, but there were no mobs anywhere. And the giant never lost health, so it wasn't that I couldn't see them.

I had a horrible time with this, in the end I wasted way too much time on it, it's bugged, and apparently I need to wait for a server reset - I submitted a ticket to a GM, they are aware of the problem, but it needs this reset to fix it, apparently.

edit - duane, Ultra, Diriom this happend to me late last night/early this morning, looks like we all had the same thing.
Can't see ANY mobs, target anything - no scourge, no bosses, no storm clouds, no nothing.

edit x2 - I went into a LOT more detail originally, but sure enough the rolling restarts this morning (!) has this quest working now.
I'm still not a fan, as it's very buggy to get the storm clouds, you often have to kill bosses repeatedly, and I had to do 3 passes to get Thrym.
- When you kill the duo by the stair, when you hear the boss shout for him/Thrym shout, go get that guy who's even bigger than yourself!

I pretty much wrote this quest off when I was told it was dependent on a server reset, but maybe its widespread enough that this kick happened.
Well for whatever reason, it was enough to get me to try on my lunch hour, and now I have the plate tanking chest :)

I keep wiping at Prince, mainly because I can't stop autoattacking him in time when he does his reflection spell. I was low and I spotted a Storm Cloud near, picked it up, but I didn't get healed.. That's another reason why I wipe there. I downed him once but I was too low to fight Thyrm, and Clouds didn't heal me.

This quest is both incredibly awesome and incredibly lame at the same time. Riding a huge storm giant: awesome. Not being able to see anything and dealing with the bugs? A pain in the ass.

For me, storm clouds only seemed to work 75% of the time and I don't mind having to kill Navarius to get Thrym, but Thrym only sticks around for a short time before he despawns, which then in my experience, killing Navarius again doesn't work because he doesn't take any damage.

And I've tried killing Algar twice now and I can't do a single point of damage to him either.

Two things about this quest, the bloody hand picks up storm clouds when they are targeted....finally got that out the comments here...and I really dislike the way Thrym gets caught on ground items when moving around....

This is a quest that needs to be re-tooled from start to finish. Three times (once in beta and then twice on alts after live release) I've attempted it and every time I found it way too aggravating because I'm unable to see what I'm doing or what I'm attacking (even with the zoom as far out as it goes). I may as well have been blindfolded on this quest.

Result? I've abandoned this quest three times now...it's a shame because it looks like it could be a lot of fun. However, it's not...it's a waste of time.

Oh, and a little additional Comment on this BUGGED LIKE HELL Quest:

If you disconnect, or crash to desktop while riding this nice little guy, he will move about 25% of his original speed AND the flying banshees will target YOU instead of him for the time of the quest...impossible to survive more than 30 seconds fpr any class except a blood DK with 3/3 vendetta...bossfights also impossible.

So if you are unlucky enough to dc ... find safespot, leave him, an retry.

Something I didn't see mentioned anywhere; Once you've completed the quest, dismount. The armies of undead never stop coming while you're mounted. Just run away from them to a reasonably safe spot and jump off, they all despawn.

1) When fighting bossess dont forget to use AUTO ATTACK - right mouse(mouse2) usually then all bosses will die very fast and you will not waste time and will not have any problems.
And how to heal:

Don't worry about killing 100 Scourge you are guaranteed to finish the quest after you defeat the 3 bosses.

Algar the Chosen is located all the way north to Voltarus (27.6,46.8)

You will find Prince Narvarius after you follow the dotted line leading out of Voltarus. He located right above the stair on your map.

After defeating Navarius he will call for help and Thrym will show to avenge him.

***Spell Summary***(Names are made up however spell order is exact.)

1. Stomp - Stomps on all enemies around you, your only usefull DPS spell. Spam it!

2. AOE Fear - Fears all enemies around you, you probably won't need this because it costs so much energy, however use it when your about to die.

3. Grab - Grabs a nearby unit, i recommend only using this on Storm Clouds to heal yourself. What are Storm Clouds you ask? Well, look for the green glyphs, that where they spawn. Their friendly so their easy to spot.

4. Throw - Throws a enemy unit in your hand. You always wanna keep your hands free to grab Storm Clouds so use this after grab. You won't need to throw Storm Clouds!

I'm not sure if this has been covered, however, you HAVE to kill them in the order that the quest gives you: Navarius, Algar, and then Thrym. I ended up killing Algar first, but Thrym didnt spawn for another person had just finished killing Thrym. I went to Navarius and killed him. When I came back for Thrym, he wont spawn. I attempted to kill Algar again, but keep getting denied but Ill keep trying. If you are fighting one of them and need health, you can run and grab a storm cloud. Navarius will follow you but at an extremely slow pace, giving you enough time to health up. Algar is the hardest I think, but then again, I havent killed Thrym yet. Also, they do not regenerate health unless you die. If you run to pick up a storm cloud, they will stay the same health, at least they did for me.

Please note, that every twig, branch, rock, blocks your path and you have to either go around or hurdle over it. Also, the camera angle approach is extremely awful. If you get hindered, it will immediately go to the feet of Gymer until you are clear. I personally do not think the rewards for this quest are honestly worth it. Ill keep trying (because I'm dumb like that)

Be careful of the trees--if you're not careful you can get stuck amid the branches and not be able to get out in any direction. Just had this happen to me, very frustrating. Blizzard needs to do some extra work on the collision in this area of the game.

(Still totally worth it just to see the giant say "Taste Gymer's size 600!")

While on the quest "The Storm King's Vengeance" you will be zoned out of Zul'Drak just like when you are doing the starting Death knight quests. Don't make the same mistake as me. When I completed the quest I jumped off the storm king while standing in the road where the other Thrym Pats and just as luck would have it he was standing there and killed me. So jump off some place where you aren't going to die.

yeah, this quest is buggy as all hell. i wouldn't necessarily say 90% of clouds are bugged, but a good 60-75% are. i have attempted this 4 times now.... getting CRAZY frustrated. Had to Hearthstone after this quest. I waited 15 minutes and I was STILL in combat. Incredibly annoying as I couldn't find any other way in order to continue with my next quest which was to use Ensorcelled Choker. That particular quest item, surprise surprise, doesn't work during combat. >.<

Auto attack did not work for me, right clicking and using T gave me the msg "You can't do that right now" So my experience went something like this... Kill the Prince, get 1/4 of Thrym's health down, run away to find a storm cloud (which mostly didnt work) get healed, run back to find Prince respawned and no Thrym in sight. This quest will now sit in my log for the next 3 days until my annoyance with it recedes to the point where i can even think about trying it again.

Fight thrym on the stairs. After you kill prince grab one of the two storm clouds near by then run up to the stairs like you're trying to escape battle. But about 1/2 way up turn and fight him. You won't be able to use your throw (attacks 3 and 4) but if you grabbed the cloud just prior to fighting him you shouldn't need to. Don't hang out on the stairs like I just did while typing this cuz sadly my giant died. So now I gotta go pick him up again and finish the quest.

This may seem stupid to some of u more experienced players, but what do the dang storm clouds look like? I have attempted this quest twice and cannot cause much damage to the Prince, and have no idea what the cloud looks like to grab it. I see green mist but thats it and can't do anything with that at all. Help is appreciated.

Has anyone experienced being permanently stunned while trying to complete this quest?

The reason I ask is because I and others were constantly stunned while using Gymer, it appears as if an Alliance Warrior was somehow able to bug my vehicle out. He camped the start location and stunned anyone that appeared for several hours, once stunned you cannot leave vehicle or move, the only way is to log off or wait till Gymer dies. Many people in the zone were complaining for several hours until a GM intervened.

The other player was taunting us and using emotes every time he did it, so it was some sort of exploit he was using.

Buggy- first time there were no storm clouds.
Second time couldn't damage Algar.
Third time... same Algar was at different location and was unattackable.

Also- Gymer seems to get hung up on low lying objects quite a bit for a giant.

I found this one quite challenging...tried it about 8 times before I succeeded. Gemily's advice above was extremely helpful but let me add these observations:

1. Storm clouds. If you see one sparkling in your hand, it is a weapon and not a healer. Throw it at a mob.

2. Storm clouds again. Before you pick one up. Hit "throw" just in case something is in your hand. Also hit the knockback to avoid accidently picking up a Vrykul. There is a timer and you don't want to lose valuable time. For the same reason, don't wait until your health gets too low.

3. Getting to the Prince. Not necessary, but helpful: After killing Algar, unmount and ride/fly back to the questgiver to get a remount. This gets rid of the tons of undead still on your back and also positions you better to get to the prince. Once your remount, quickly go to the road that Thym travels. Watching out for him, run towards where the Prince is but, staying on that road, run up the stairs and turn left. You can jump down from there.

4. There is a glowing glyph on the ground near the Prince. (I cant recall the color...green or purple) Stand on it when you fight both the Prince and Thym. For some reason, my health stayed up and they went down faster. (I forgot to look for a buff..there may well have been one.)

5. If you run too far looking for a stormcloud while fighting Thym, the whole thing resets to having to kill the Prince. So....identify nearby stormclouds first.

Good luck...and don't get too frustrated. Its quite a challange cause Blizz did not make this one easy....

One thing to mention - despite being massively tall, Gymer can't seem to bring his "size 600s" to step over the smallest of landscape obstacles. Unfortunately, his massive size will keep you from passing through spaces occluded by tree branches or the like, so you can very easily get yourself caught on any number of terrain spots while riding the big guy.

Very frustrating when you've got several hundred scourge smacking him for 300-600 each, and you can't get the lumbering giant to step over a 1-foot rock.

All in all though a fun quest. Just make sure there's a storm cloud nearby the Prince when you fight him, because you will need one to stock back up on health when Thrym shows up to challenge you. If you have to run halfway across the damn zone to find a stormcloud, like I did several times, Thrym will despawn even if you tagged and are kiting him along with you.

Something interesting happened to me during this quest...

I was wandering around looking for Thrym ('cuz this was before I realized he spawned after killing the Prince) and my giant was getting hit repeatedly by some monster. I looked & looked, ran around, tried to target something, but no matter what I did I couldn't find what was hitting my nearly dead giant. I had temporarily out ran the mobs at this point & there wasn't anything near me. By chance, I happened to see something flicker at the edge of the screen. For whatever reason (maybe it's my monitor), I could barely see what the giant had in it's hand unless I turned the camera so he was sideways. As it turns out, the whole time he was receiving damage my giant was holding a monster that was attacking it the whole time he was holding it!

...and so I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this particular phenomenon.

(And yes of course I dropped that monster like a bad habit once I realized what was going on.) =)

It took me a little while to "master" the Button 3 option which lets you also restore your health from the glowing orbs.

Once I figured out how to heal myself, this entire quest was a piece of cake and I received over 30,000 exp. at Level 74.

1) Why the !@#$% does this giant need me to tell him how to fight? It seems he ought to be able to direct his own body a lot better than I can do by riding on his head.

2) Hey Blizz, how about some better instructions? There's no reason I should have to go to a 3rd-party site to figure out what "... needs storm cloud badly!" means. Storm clouds? Ol' Gymer here said nothing about storm clouds before we got started.

3) Aside from the "can't see !@#$" problem it's incredibly frustrating when I keep pressing an attack button and nothing happens. Maybe if I could see anything I could figure out why nothing is happening. Like, I might have noticed that the knockback attack only functions in a cone in front of me (another thing I had to come here to learn), so once I'd knocked back the mobs in front of me I would see what happened and realize I needed to turn around and do it again to the ones behind me, and to the sides of me...

Quest Was a bit of a pain, took me a few try's, for the last part for killing Prince Navarius slain & Thrym slain, just run form where you get on Gymer and run to 31,63 up the stairs and wait a few second then jump down and start on Prince Navarius, goes down rather easy, then when he does down you cant miss Thrym, By far one of the biggest NPC's in game even larger then some of the Major Instances in game. but back to the point you start on him as soon as it tells you, "Grymer needs a Storm Cloud Badly" get movein over to 29, 65 and get the Cloud and keep beating him there and then as soon as he goes down click the red arrow and your done, NEXT QUEST!

Argh! On top of the bugs already mentioned, it gets even worse if you disconnect in the middle.

It completely messes the camera up (upon relogging, the camera doesn't compensate for the fact that you're high up...so suddenly your camera is at butt level behind him, or at toe level if you zoom it in to first person mode), forcing you to either try to deal with it in first person mode right at ground level, or to try to restart the quest. Reloading the UI does nothing.

Sometimes the giant's abilities don't come back up. Sometimes they come back after several seconds up.

Sometimes they come back up on your display but won't work at all. They do nothing, not even using energy.

I've gotten to Algal twice in 11 attempts (damned disconnects), and just can't seem to hurt him. The storm clouds only work half the time. And hell, sometimes the attacks don't even do anything to the mobs around you...uses your energy up, though!

The biggest key to this quest, I found, is to absorb a storm cloud immediately before or during a fight with one of the bosses. This sends Gymer into some sort of overdrive and generates lots of energy for his abilities, in addition to healing him.

The opposing faction can be a big hindrance during this quest. While the Giant's offensive spells don't seem to do much to other giants, the Knockback effect will send you flying quite a ridiculous distance.

Also, Thrym does NOT get auto tagged after killing the mob that makes him spawn; After being harrased by opposing faction members trying to get this quest done, I waited for their Thrym to spawn and tagged him, and got total credit for the quest.

Great quest, really epic. The enemies are not all that hard though. Navarius and Thrym (who, like all mobs in this quest, is phased and has only 200K HP or so) are push-overs. Algar was a bit harder, but I tackled him first and that was when I didn't know what Storm Clouds looked like. Really, learn to recognize them, because they are life savers.
Biggest enemy in this quest is probably the camera, because you can see only in one direction. So for example, when you are battling Thrym and are looking at him, you don't get to see the dozens of undead trash mobs nibbling at your shins. Not that it really matters, because they don't do nearly enough damage to kill you, but I found it annoying anyway.

Just one question, is that Storm Giant in Howling Fjord now friendly to you? Would seem logical since you freed his king, but I have my doubts about a Storm Giants ability to think logical.

I had to kill Prince V. twice before Thyrm came around. So make sure you look around for thyrm and then kill him. Make sure there is a storm cloud that you can use because after killing the prince you will need more health.

My two cents:

Do not trust too much in throwing the Vrykuls for damage when you need that oh-snap AoE Damage quick. Gymer is an idiot and tends to throw the vrykuls into targets that are far away, even when he's being raped by millions of ghouls eating his ankles.
I think the strom cloud near prince doesn't work. I tried to use it a few times in a row, and left the quest because I thought it was bugged. Later I found that that all clouds worked fine, except that one. At least for me.

this giant handles like a freaking tanker ship so using your mouse to steer might be an idea. I lost count of how many times I tried to get out of a crumbled structure (there's so many in the area they're hard to miss) and the legions of undead were on me like a pack of dogs on a three-legged cat. So yeah, don't steer like you're on a regular mount or on foot, use your mouse.

What this guy said. Except I could activate Storm's Fury just by STANDING in the clouds for a couple seconds. The buff lasts for 8 seconds I believe but you don't even need that long to kill the elites.

Gymer makes the undead taste Gymer's size 600!, the elites die within a matter of seconds, and you can finish the quest in a minute or two. What's not to love about that?

This quest is absolutely ridiculous. Unnecessarily difficult, and it took an absurd amount of time and tries to complete. Those "Storm Clouds" were absolutely useless as they bugged out and didn't do anything. All those mobs coming at you were incredibly frustrating as well because they never stop coming so by the time you get to the guy you're supposed to kill, you're already down to half health! DO NOT do this quest. Do not waste your time. It took me well over an hour to complete the THREE objectives!

Seems to be very buggy still. I can't kill Thrym as none of the orbs heal and Prince does his reflection move about 2-3 seconds before he even starts casting it on my screen resulting in me having about 1% health by the time Thrym spawns.. pretty much impossible to complete at the moment. Tried several times already and same thing every time. I can clear the 100 mobs and Algar without issue, but with the orbs not working at all, and the Prince reflecting damage without me knowing it's pretty much impossible to win.

I also had the troll custom glitch when I forced myself out of it (right-clicked the buff) and delete all my macros/undo all my binds. I highly suggest avoiding this quest. It's not worth the reward with this much trouble.

Oh, another thing. If you run too far away from Thrym, he will reset and despawn. Meaning you have to kill Prince again to make him spawn. He will not follow you far, so you need to pretty much use the two orbs near Prince, both of which wont heal me.

There's only a couple quests in the entire world o' warcraft I hate on the way to lvl 80. This might be #1. You can't see well at all, the controls are not intuitive, and what you need to do to keep Grymer alive is buggy. Worst part is not being able to see well at all, even when you zoom out all the way. This is about the hardest quest I've ever attempted I've never completed it it wAs so hard all I no is kill all the scourge then the dragon then the prince but when the prince dies thrym spawns and by the time the prince is down I've only got about30k hp left I picked up a lighting ball but it didn't heal me......extremly hard

This is a great quest for gathering Love Tokens. By the time I killed the 100 Scourge that the quest requires (less than 5 minutes), I had gathered about 25 of them. I decided not to complete this quest and use it again to gather the rest of the Love Tokens that I need.

Took me a few tries to do this quest. Mostly due to the horrible camera angle. I had to zoom in to a first person view in order to finish it.

Also, I'm not sure how you got the love tokens on this quest. I didn't get any either. ebonhand must be right that Blizz "fixed" it. I did a quest in Dragonblight where you drive that tank and kill scourge getting plenty of tokens. In retrospect, since there's no time limit on controlling the tank I should have sat there for a lot longer until I got about a 100.

This would have to be one of the most annoying quests in the game. I understand blizz are trying to make the game fun and stuff with a variety of quests but when it is bugged it gets a little old. The storm clouds don't do anything! You hold one in your hand and attack to try and heal yourself and nothing happens! Camera angles are pretty much !@cked and you spend half the time trying to fight off mobs that don't seem to die. The quest rewards are rubbish for the effort. PLEASE ANYONE WHO IS DOING THIS QUEST READ THIS! the easyest way to do this is to not zoom your camera out all the way, but to move it into first person view, that way you can at least see what is in front of you even tho you cant see you, at least you can see somthing.

Personally thought this was a horrible quest. Annoying, endless spawns of undead, and even though I had the storm cloud targetted the Giant would decide to pick up a Vykrul instead.

Then when I finally had everything under control and was taking down the Prince, a second giant came along, ate my storm clouds, then left me to Thrym.

This q-line could have been so epic but instead it is very annoying and poorly executed;
He gets caught on the tiniest of ruts and lumps on the ground
His jump is stupidly low
You cannot zoom far enough out to target the enemies or see what you doing
Doesn't do enough damage
Not enough energy regen
He seems to agro the whole zone sometimes
To get rid of the ridiculous amount of undead follwers it is quicker to dismount, fly back to the quest start, then run back the area you were just at

Just my opinion so don't go ape on the downrating

(Edit: also the crummy thorny things around zuldrak dont help mobility issues)
(Edit 2: he makes aggro noises all the time just to confuse you some more)

Don't worry if the giant is about to die.When he does,you go out of combat,no damage.I bailed a couple times,eventually got it done.

Just keep at it,and try to find the clouds on your way in so you know where to head when health gets low.

Forgot to add that if you leave the giant or he dies,you don't fail quest. I had to run from Almar,came back,got kill.

left machine,started again. Managed to kill Navarius,then Thrym spawned.Another giant jumped in,but my giant died.

Went and remounted,came back and got Thrym with a couple of other players.

Have to applaud Blizz for letting you keep credit for kills without having to start over.Also for taking you out of combat.You won't die unless you run into too many regular scourge.

This is solo-able even if you're below this quest's 76 lvl rating.

Just remember these:
- use your AOE blast often to knock back those "pest" below.
- heal with the storm cloud at about 50-60% health; target them (they are at ground level) before using the Grab button. This is not an immediate heal like the potions, wait for a few seconds to charge.
- Price Nav is a little hard to see/target because of the small size (since you're a giant now) among the waves of mobs. Just look for the one with the purple/pink shield, that's him.
- For Thrym, just attack him and AOE blast once a while. You'll probably need 2-3 heals. There are 3 storm clouds in the area just manage them properly in terms of allowing some time for respawning.

Anyone else experiencing bugs with credit for killing Prince? I've killed him and then killed Thrym about 4 times and I haven't gotten credit for killing the Prince. Obviously I did kill him and Thrym spawned, but Blizz says it's not their problem.

Last, but certainly not least... for this particular quest, there may be different versions of the NPC's you are trying to kill. Please ensure you are killing the correct version of the phased NPC at the correct location.

Of course I'm killing the correct one since, oh I dunno, THRYM SPAWNS AND I KILL HIM.

Apparently sometimes when you grab a Storm Cloud.. nothing happens. and then you die. 'cuz every time you grab that cloud, nothing will happen.

The post that this was from is what helped me get this done...it is still a horrible quest and I never want to have to do this one again!
Plan on getting frustrated and want to abandon the whole mess!
I am not sure it was even worth the 500 Argent Crusade rep.

This is from someone elses post, but it helped me out a lot:

1) Storm clouds: These are all over the place, but there are two types. One type will heal Gymer and the other type is a bomb. Use the "hand" icon to pick them up. If you get a bomb, it will appear in Gymer's right hand - use the "throw" icon to get rid of it toward a bunch of scourge. If you need to heal, you need to keep picking them up until you get one that heals you. As mentioned below, the healing will begin immediately.

2) Thrym: He will spawn AFTER you kill Prince Navarius. If you find him wandering around, it's because some other player failed to kill him. He is completely solo-able with Gymer - there is no need to party with other players except to share the kill. The fact that Thrym won't spawn until after you kill Prince Navarius was the most confusing thing about this quest.

3) Scourge: It worked well for me to kill the little guys as I went along - there will be plenty of them, so use Gymer's knockback as frequently as possible.

4) Prince Navarius: Make sure that you target the mob you are trying to kill. Especially the named ones. This will ensure that your efforts are focused on your goals. Prince Navarius hits especially hard, so bring him down fast, find a storm cloud that will heal you and get ready to fight Thrym!

Yes, there are aspects of this quest that make it blow (more on that in a moment), but it doesn't have to be that hard. Here's how I've done it (with three different toons):

1.) Kill Algar the Chosen. You must kill Algar first! Mount up on the giant (talk to him in order to do this) and head northeast to the Reliquary of Pain. Algar is flying around the area on a skeletal dragon. Use the various combinations of the giant's attack buttons to kill Algar (and the many, many adds). If you need more health, grab one of the little storm clouds floating near the ground throughout the area (you do this by targeting the cloud and pressing the #3 button).

2.) Kill Prince Navarius. He is due south of Algar, near the stairs going up toward the Argent Stand's main base. You will recognize Navrius by the purple dome protecting him. Kill him the same way you killed Algar, again keeping an eye out for the healing storm clouds.

3.) Kill Thrym. Killing the prince spawns Thrym (He will /yell Master! No!). Spank him like you spanked the other two.

And that's all she wrote.

It's likely that in the process of killing the three bosses you'll have killed the requisite 100 scourge. If not, mop up any remnants to finish the quest.

SO...what sucks about this quest? Two things:

- The POV blows. It makes navigating and fighting with the giant very hard. Fortunately, the giant's two main attacks are massive AOEs, so targeting mobs doesn't matter so much.

- The stupid giant is so damn big that he gets caught up on every, tree, branch, stump, and stone he walks by. Very irritating!

I tried this quest and was able to slay all but Thyrm but it took several tries. Each Gymer died I was able to go back and get him again from the cage. I tried again today but someone else was fighting Thyrm so I had to wait. Apparently Gymer times out at some point -- he just disappeared. Now when I go back to the cage, it says I have to use the seaforium charge to open the cage first. How do I get another one? Going back to Engineer Reed didn't work. Anyone know?

Couple of things:

Use number 3 the fist to [ickup the Thunderstorms which are smallish glowing balls which float around. If you have a bad guy in your hand already throw him with Number 4 the open palm. Watch your Giants health bar if getting around 30% go looking for a cloud the bad guy will follow you. Number 2 will basically get you your 100 Kills. Number 1 for killing the 3 bosses just keep hitting it and occasionally number 2 in case you have smaller adds kicking your ankles as well (plus adds to the 100 needed). You will find large numbers of the bad guys will gather towards you so Number 2 the Blast takes good care of them. When you get a healing cloud you'll see sort of beams of light coming from your giant and your health bar increasing you may need 2 or possibly 3 to get back to full health.

Prince Navarius is a little guy normal human size over near the stairs, left side as you look at the stairs from lower level. He has a purple bubble around him. If your low on health go get more before killing him.

1. Killed the scourge first-- Focusing on them first makes things a lot easier.. just get it out of the way.

2. Killed Algar The Chosen (North East Section-- (27,46).-- Get right on top of him, target him, and wack away.

3. Killed Prince Navarius-- (South East Section-- (32,64).--Again, get right on top of him, target, and pound.

4. Killed Thrym-- (Spawns right around South East Section)-- He will spawn within seconds so be ready.

Maybe it's just me but all these jump-on-a-mount-you-can't-control-and-learn-a-bunch-of-new-buttons-on-the-fly quests are not that fun. Sure blizz has tried to mix things up a bit and I'll grant you that it's different from anything pre-wrath. But different doesn't equal good. I'm just waiting for the quest that has me jump rolling barrels before I grab the hammer to pound the giant monkey. These episodes, brief though they may be, turn a great game into a button masher that would appeal to a seven year old and not the game I've spent countless addicted hours coming to know and love.

The Storm Clouds aren't glitched, there's 2 different kinds. Pick one up and look at your buffs, one gives a healing buff, one gives a +attack power buff.

I'm not sure what all the complaining was about below in regards to getting this done. Got it first try without reading all the stuff on this page.

You don't get xp for killing them so run away. Do the 100 guys last since you will get a bunch of them while fighting the bosses and they keep coming at you infinitely during the quest. The road to the east is basically the boundary. Need a break? - run there and head south until they stop chasing you. Not all the storm clouds do something. If you grab one that works it will start healing you immediately. If you grab one that doesn't seem to do anything find another.

I completed this quest after three tries and after reading these posts. I even abandoned and then picked up the quest again. The information in all of these posts is correct, but confusing. I will try and clarify what I found confusing ....

I tried this four or five times. It is hard to find the storm clouds. It is hard to tell which ones give health. It is hard to determine which buttons do any damage.

All this is on top of being hard to see, hard control, and hard to move.

I'm sorry, but I'm busy. I have more to do than to fool with an unworkable quest. I'm gone on this one.

to heal your friend Gymer, "grab" the storm clouds floating around, it super charges him, dont worry about killing the scourge first, you'll easily get 100 kills while doing the named.

have to do the named in some order, all I know is Thrym wont appear (he dissapears from the walkway when you get onto Gymer) until you kill algar and navarius.

I tried this quest about a too many times to count, killed the first 2 guys ok but the storm cloud bug made it so that I could not have enough health to kill Thyrm.

Some suggestions to make this quest more enjoyable.

1 ~~ the Storm clouds are bugged...fix it so that they work every time.

2 ~~ make Gymer so that he can walk through at least some of the debris. It is just stupid to be on a giant that gets stuck on every little twig. I found it to be really hard to control where the giant was walking. Hard to reach the storm clouds with the giant stumbling about like a drunken dwarf lol

3 ~~ delay the spawn time of Thrym a bit sheeze

I tried to do this quest but since the free server transfer my server has had alot of lag and for some reason it really shows up on this quest. Every time I engage a boss it lags out and I can push buttons and nothing happens for about 10 seconds then bam I lost about 20% hp and the mob I am fighting doesn't lose any. Never had this problem before those free transfers.

In any case screw it. Junk reward and I am sick of wasting time screwing with blizzards mistakes. Abandoned...

Killed Thrym just by constantly pressing 1 3 and 4. Started with 75% health and it was no problem.

I kept killing the Prince (who makes Thrym appear) and my health would be too low to fight Thrym when the Prince was down. So I would run around and get storm clouds to get my health back up and Thrym would then disappear. *sigh* I did this 5X. I found that if you stand on the green glyph right in front of the Prince when you fight him, your health will stay up. Then when Thrym appears over to the side, run over to him and attack at close range. Then drag him back to where you fought the Prince standing on that green glyph thingie. Spam #1 and hit #3 and #4 when the cooldown is up on #3. Ignore #2... It just keeps you from hitting #1 as often. Hope that helps.

these posts were very helpful except for the fact that NO ONE bothered to tell anyone that the healing storm clouds are blue spheres floating on or near the green glyphs. That little fact might have been helpful juggarnauts. So to all those doing this quest when looking to heal look for glowing blue spheres that look like balls of lightening. It took me 3 hours and 5 trys to find this out. Did this at 78 Prot Pally.

This is another of those of those set play pieces that infest the WotLK expansion for Warcraft.

Once you mount Gymer, you phase to another plane, so the mobs you see on Gymer's shoulders are not the same mobs on the ground when you leave, so dismount somewhere out of the way.

The instructions given in previous comments are probably correct and usable if you have green latency. If your latency is not green, then dump the quest unless you really need an item of gear.

If your latency is yellow, the first thing you will noice is that #2 does not kill the basic mob and two or three blasts may be neccessary.

Further, you can not just one hit (#1) Algar(78Elite) to kill him and basically you're totally out of luck. From 100%, I'd taken off maybe 10% of his health and lost 60% of Gymer's health before I decided to bail and dump the quest.

Also, you do not need this quest to get the 100 quests in Zul'Drak.

I would be interested to see if a group is taken out of plane with Gymer, which might make it doable.

What are storm clouds...I don't see anything resembling a storm cloud. My button 3 and 4 either don't do anything, or I get some lame error telling me my pet is out of range.

So, please describe the storm clouds, what do they look like, where are they? Cause I don't get it at all.

And your right, he hangs up on everything. I've had to dismount twice because I can't heal myself and he won't move off the branches and twigs.

One thing that previous posts have failed to mention is that in order to get Thrym to spawn you must first kill the prince.... (previous post give co-ordinates).

I cannot beleave that blizzard actually has this quest live? Firstly if you select a cloud that you desperately need, when you pick it up instead you pick up a nearby NPC... Really we have an entire partially working game for which we pay hard earned money to play as entertainment, surely you could get this small detail fixed...
Secondly you have to run around (DESPERATELY) to find these flippin clouds... BUT the minute you run too far Thrym returns to his spawn point and RESETS HIS FREAKIN HEALTH! WTF Blizz? so in other words you spend more time trying to get this stupid quest done and in the mean time they are coining it from the extra game time that you are playing..... (BTW this is the same reason the flight paths are not direct and fly you half way across the continent to get you to a flight point in the neighboring town...)

This quest was very frustrating.

Here's how I did it:

IMPORTANT NOTES:
*As tempting as it is to spam the fist pound ability during all fights, don't, because you will lose all your energy and not be able to use the AOE spell which gets all the scourge off you. Keep the scourge away as often as possible.*

*Memorize where the Storm Clouds are in the vacinity of Prince Navarius and Thrym (South East Section). You will have to break off during mid fight of Thrym (possibly Prince Navarius as well) to heal with Storm Clouds. If you break away too long you will have to fight both over again.*

Good luck. This one aggrivated me to no end.

Storm clouds look like little balls of electricity on the ground. I had an issue where one out of three I used didn't work. He just picked it up and held it in his hand.

Oh and if you logout while on the storm giant when you log back in you aren't on him anymore and you take fall damage.

This quest is one of the most frustrating worthless quests in the game. I found that I couldn't move without getting caught on objects, I couldn't see where I was going when I could move, half the time I couldn't attack the creatures attacking me. I dropped this on 2 different toons before evening getting to the first elite.

When you kill Navaius, Thrym will give an emote and appear. whoever killed Navarius gets the ability to tag Thrym, although anyone can engage him. Make sure you land at least 1 blow on Thrym to get completion for his death.

There is an order to this. You have to kill Algar (approx 27,46) to have Nav appear (approx 32,64). Once you kill Nav, Thrym appears at approx 32,63.

You will need to grab a storm cloud for every one of these fights, and i would recommend getting at least two people to try Thrym.

I had just started on Prince Navarius when I went link dead. I screwed up entering my password so it took me a bit longer than normal to get back to the "fight" which I thought would have been over by the time I got back. Well, not only had I defeated Nav while I was 'gone' but Thrym was down to 1/2 health. I was too, but I started punching buttons and he died. I guess what I'm trying to say is try going out for a smoke or a cup of coffee when you take on these 2...you might win without all the headaches.

But he seems to spawn just outside where Prince Navarius is located

This quest is working as it should be for the moment i believe. Kill the two first bosses, and use the ability where you pick up a mob and throw it to kill the prince, then Trym will spawn close to where the prince was. A bit anoying at first, but when you get the hang of it, it's not that bad. The exploding mob seems to work good on Trym as well, and try let some mobs be around when you throw, it seems to make a chain reaction on the damage.

- All mechanics of this quest work fine, the only thing that can cause problems is Gymer can get stuck on geometry at times and you'll have to release and grab him again from the cage, no big deal.
- The general scourge trash is easy to smash and cleave. The aoe knockback ability does a ton of damage and flings mobs into ones further away so you won't even need to run around chasing mobs down to get the counter to 100 kills. A couple aoe's and you'll have dozens of mobs running at you.
- Thrym spawns in the general vicinity of Prince Navarius when he's killed. You know this because you will see Thrym yell in chat. Make sure you're near 100% health before fighting Thrym.
- There isn't anything special with Algar the Chosen.
- No, the storm clouds aren't broken. You have to use the grab ability to pick up the storm cloud before it will start healing you.

Unnecessarily convoluted quest. Find a boss, grab a storm cloud glowing on the ground, go to town with 1 and 2. It will heal the giant and cause him to do a lot more damage with attacks. Kill the guy to the south, then go up to prince and kill him real quick, Thrym will spawn, grab another cloud, kill him too. Just ignore throwing things.

This quest is still extremely buggy for me. I get disconnected within 1 minute every time I become the giant. Then when I relog I'm no longer the giant, get killed, then can't rez at my body. Even upon using the graveyard rez I am bugged and the game thinks I'm stick in the graveyard. I have to rez and then hearth/teleport out for the game to actually register that I'm moving.
