Step 3: Make sure no phantoms are lurking around where you will be fighting darmuk.
Step 4: Use your servant to fight Darmuk. (DO NOT HELP YOUR SERVANT).

Make sure you use all your abilities on the servant as much as you can during the fight.

My disguise failed as soon as i MC'd a servant. Do not worry, the servant will just despawn, he will not attack you.

when you MC your servant, use the buff that lasts for 2 mins (first ability). stand back and send your servant in and use the stun and the Gut Rip every time the CD is up.

I was able to kill Darmuk with my servant still at 50% hp or so

I dont know what im doing wrong, i have the servent and then i spam the abilites, making sure to stun, then apply the dot so it doesnt get dodged.... and my servent dies while the guy is still at 70%, im making sure hes enraged and everything. I dont know if its because people have aura's or buffs for theyre minions but im a warlock, and i cant help my pet at all, and my servent is getting raped everytime.

Also, anytime i try and get a second servant, Darmuk is still over 50% and and all the aggro is dumped to me and he kicks my head in.

It seems that if you try to kill Darmuk standing in the plateau your suit seems somehow to wear off before the battle ends. Stand where there are rocks in the end of the plateau. Coords where to stand 29, 51 ( I suggest you get somekind of Coord addon to show coords on minimap to make it easier to find coords whilst not looking map. Wowinterface being a good place from where to look.)

I was able to kill Darmuk with only 1 servant with around 20% HP by stunning (and using the bleed skill) whenever the CD was up and not waiting for when he uses his evasion skill.

Important note!
Do not stun on CD. It must be ready when Darmuk enrages!
Only use stun when Darmuk goes red!.
Thats when he does most damage to your minion.
Use the other two abilities on CD - easy to solo with just one Minion.

This quest is bugged to hell and beyond for me - there's no "pet bar", no way of clearing it with one servant, and when I'm getting a hold of a new one Daruk leaves combat, so I have to do it again. FML, this is completely retarded...

I've done this about a dozen times and I finally found that the trick is to fight him near the western end of the ramp he's on. If he's on the eastern end, your troll will hit for 300-400 and die horribly. If you pull him to the western end, an event will trigger where Drakmar says "Your disguise doesn't fool me fleshling!" and your troll will start doing 1000+ per hit.

Also be sure to transform a level 76 Servant of Drakuru because the level does effect your troll's stats.

Any ranged character can just kite him, he moves ridiculously slowly.

If you want to use the pet, don't just spam the abilities; any wins from that tactic will be pure luck. In particular, the stun must be used with care, stunning the enrages is a good idea. Someone also mentioned that there is a dodge ability that your target uses, stun druing that so you can apply the bleed would be smart.

All in all, unless you're a strictly melee class (warrior, rogue, deathknight?) I'd advise to just kill him the old fashioned way.

PROTIP:
Have another servant nearby. When the one you initially control gets low (10%ish) just use your rod and get a new servant. The boss will aggro on you but between the six second stuns you can backpedal to safety while your new 100% health servant finishes him off.

Went to the eastern end after grabbing a Servant of Drakuru on the southern side. engaged darmuk in the middle ran to the end of the eastern end and waited for the first servant to die, used the staff on a second then kited and stunned. using the abilites as much as possible This took a few tries, you have to kite darmuk for a while then eventually the aggro is directed towards the second minion.

I think maybe using 2 different "pets" may be nerfed now cause the second troll I MC CANNOT get aggro from me even though I cast NO spells and do nothing but run around TRYING to get the 2 to cross paths.

I cannot see the pet bar for some reason and I dont use any hot bar modifying mods, I use stock hot bars so im having trouble with this.

Note:

The Ferocious Enrage seems to not always trigger the damage increase - if your pet is red, but only does 300 or so damage, it didn't fire and you have little chance of beating Darmuk with your pet only. Correct damage is in the 800-1000 vicinity, which makes the quest easy.

As a level 74 Balance druid i killed him without any probelms, Root and Wrath, hots and Trees are helpfull to, mostly make sure to root alot cause it breaks fast and heal when he gets to you.

For me the trick was standing on the northern edge of the platform. If you watch his path, there is a point where he walks to the north edge and stops for a few moments. This is when I enraged my pet and sent him in. The enrage buff applied correctly and he was hitting for 1000 or so.

When I attempted it from the western edge as some suggested I could never get the buff to apply right and the pet would only hit for around 300 or so.

Also, as others have stated, make sure you are only using the stun when he applies his dodge buff and all other abilities when they are off CD.

If you can get the pet enrage buff to work correctly then it's cake!

You can just solo and kill Darmuk without using the servant if you're at decent lvl and class to solo.
No need to use the Scepter of Empowerment to get the quest completed :-)

I managed to solo Darmuk as a blood specced DK, using only Chains of Ice, Icy Touch and Death Coil. I did not use the scepter and i got the quest completed.

Might be a bug, i dont know.

Ok, I had a little trouble at first but if you go to 30, 51 on top of a huge mound, you will see Darmuk and a few other adds. Yes you have to leave Voltarius to find Darmuk. The easy way to fight this guy is to gain controle of a pet send him gus blazing. The pets are all over the area on the bottom of the mound. Use every spell as soon as the cool down is done. If you do it right you can get Darmuk down to about 200hp, Then you can one shot him. I did it with a 75 warrior, but it worked fine for me.

I killed him twice with just the mind controlled troll, but I didn't get credit for the kill even though there wasn't anyone else around.

On the third attempt, I took him down to under 10% health with the troll, and then finished him off myself. Then I got credit.

I found this to be very difficult for my squishy 77 mage. Nearly 20 times. Huge repair bills. Frustration galore.

I used many of the tips on the board, but simply could not kill him.

He hits extremely hard, and so I could not live through the death of the servant, as Darmuk will indeed "see through your disguise".

So, I had to take a different approach.

I made a servant, and stood at the west end of the platform. Darmuk will wander back towards you.

He sees you and gives the "your disguise..." message. Have your servant/pet engage him.

Put it on STAY.

Wander over near another potential PET.

When Darmuk kills your pet (as he inevitably will) make a new one... you might live long enough to actually get the pet, and thereby complete the quest.

If Darmuk hits you, it will interrupt the Sceptre of Empowerment, so a new servant will not be made.

Okay this doesn't work for me at all. I'm attacking him at the western end of the ramp, he's standing on.. and I'm always getting a lvl 76 mob, and using the stun when he turns red. I've read all the coments about a mill times, and he won't die no matter what..

Just did this quest on my 74 Healadin. I used all of the servant's abilities as soon as they were available, and it seemed to work just fine. The only problem that occurred was when he was dropped to about 5k health, I accidentally used my Hammer of Wrath, which brought me out of the disguise and dismissed the servant. Luckily, i was able to bubble and kill him with Exorcism and Holy Shock.

It is bugged for me. When I use the rod to take control of the Servant of Drakuru, the action bar of the pet does not come up, so I'm sitting here holding in CTRL while I'm punshing on the number keys hoping to get one right.

Any help with knowing which CTRL+(number) combination there is for each ability, would be very appreciated.

I just 'did' this quest, seems a horde beat me to him, so I just kind of waited around while the horde killed him so he could respwan and I could kill him, anyway, the horde killed him and it got me the kill for it, I hadn't even attempted to kill the mob and I got the kill, it was quite strange, but hey, it worked

I used the level 65 minion and i did fine, use my CD's when they where up. Also side note, your minion can kill any one whos agressive to you (including the ghost that walk around and break your disguise) So you can use the time you have left to have him beat on a few ghosts.

I tried to do 2 or 3 times this quest last night but I failed. I was very nervous. Then finally I realised what was the problem. I wanted to slay Darmuk using a level 75 servant. Did not work at all. My servants died very quickly. They had no chance. After theese I caught a level 76 servant (at a venture) and happened miracle - this higher level servant could defeat Darmuk. I think the most important detail to use a LEVEL 76 SERVANT and you will be able to do this quest.

Everyone is mentioning to use the Servant's abilities. I can't see any option to use any of his abilities anywhere. I also had problems with the previous quest for Drakuru, and currently have a ticket open.

EDIT: Logging out and back in again worked. If you are having problems with this or the other quest, try re-logging.

There's a nice little bug in this quest as of patch 3.0.8: You don't actually have to be the one to kill Darmuk. I picked up my Servant of Drakuru and ran to Darmuk, and when I found that someone else had already pullged aggro on him and tapped him, I stood by and didn't attack, waiting for him to finish so I could pick Darmuk back up after he had respawned. But when the player I was standing next to killed Darmuk, it gave me credit for the kill.

So don't stand around waiting for another player to come by and kill Darmuk for you, but it's still a nice little way to get out of having to do too much work on your own. =)

Here's how I did it.

1. Make sure you're at full health and apply some buffs in case you might have to polish him off.
2. Get a 76 Troll, they are tougher
3. You and your troll should stand by the western part of the area, I stood by the edge of the ramp that leads up to him. He should say something about seeing through the disguise
4. wait for the elite to walk towards you, he will rip his arm off and stick it back in, and walk west.
5. Once he gets really close sick your troll on him.

Now the part that's tricky, and where I think people have difficulty is spell rotation of the troll.
I'm not sure the buffs but I know the one to the right is stun.

Here was my rotation, once your troll has engaged the elite.
1. the one on the left, has the longest cooldown hit first
2. keep spam the middle one it has the shorter cool down

repeat until,

3. pop the stun when you see him get enraged, the red skull will appear
4. if you can wait till left buff is ready, click that then the middle. Otherwise, click the middle and wait for the left buff to be ready.

Stun should wear off by now, and you'll use steps 1 and 2, until 3 happens.

It should be really close, your doing ok if you see the elite and your troll about same health all the way down. By the time the elite is almost dead, your disguise should be failing, and get ready to fight just in case, but hopefully your troll and the elite are dead.

Good luck, this one did suck, kinda like the tamproline quest in outlands. I skipped that after enough tries. Couldn't skip since this is tied to a achievement.

Some other options, although not tested:

1. Get a pug a kill him straight away, I think i doesn't matter how he's killed.
2. if you have to engage with the troll, roll solo and have your buddies help kill him once your troll is engaged, but I suspect it won't be necessary.

Again these aren't tested, let me know if it works or if its easier than getting the troll combat right.

This quest is ok to do, but requires some set up. This is what I've found works.
Go to 30: 49 and

1. Check the area for blightguards - you don't want them disrupting you
2. Refresh your disguise - you don't want it disappearing during the kill
3. Target a Servant of Drakuru (make sure it's level 76) and use your Scepter of Empowerment
4. Use the pet bar to attack Darmuk
5. Spam Feroicious Enrage (first ability) and Gut rip (second ability) when they are up
6. Most importantly don't spam Stunning Force (last ability). Use it only when you see Darmuk turn red. This will mean you stun him during his enrage and should complete the fight with only one pet (tested 5 times).
7. Don't use your own abilities on darmuk or the pet - it will break you out of costume and fail the fight.
8. If for some reason you don't kill him on a single servant, quickly control another servant and immediately use Stunning Force (last ability), you can then run around while your servant kills him, or if you are a class that can kite/in plate, kill him yourself.

I beat him my first try. One thing that really helps is to time your stun with the cooldown on the rip ability (also as was mentioned stun him when he turns red) and keep up the buff ability the whole time and you will be fine:)

While listening to Pat's first PVP video, I was getting almost smashed when my disguise weared off when I just engaged him. I'm a 77 Priest and I didn't knew what to do. I was hoping the boss could be shackled, and yes he could :-) !

For some reason the MC'ed troll was despawned, and my rotation was the following:

Macro 1: Target Focus
Macro 2: Shackle Focus
Mind Blast
Macro 2: Shackle Focus
Mind Blast
etc

Took me quite some time, but I found out it gives me more pleasure then doing it with a mind controlled troll. Thanks to Blizzard for giving Hymn of Hope and Dispersion ( shadowfiend would break the shackle =/ )

Just did it as a 77 Elemental Shaman. You can drop Totem of Wrath while in disguise and its debuff will affect Darmuk. However, none of your friendly totems will affect your pet. You can heal while disguised, but you cannot heal your pet.
For those of you (like me), whose pet bar was bugged and did not appear--

CTRL+1 = Attack Target
CTRL + 5 = Rend/Rake ability
CTRL+6 = Stun

I just spammed 5 and 6. Darmuk killed my pet with a sliver of life left, so I just Flameshocked+Lava Burst'ed my way to victory.

Affliction Warlocks, you CAN solo him.

I was reading a lot of these posts to see how I could help myself. (I didn't go far down enough to see the Health Funnel post).

At first try, almost immediate fail, but, as I was running away I noticed Curse of Exhaustion worked on him (I can only imagine any other slowing talent/spell would work too).

Second try I figured I'd try kiting him, except my diguise failed as I was trying to control a servant. Servant + friends had their way with me =s.

Third try, disguise failed as soon as the fight started.

Finally, fourth try, servant got him down to 2/3 health. (I'm not the greatest at timing those abilities to Darmuk's enrage). So... I

CoE, SL, Corr him as I ran around like crazy, refreshing them all as needed while i ran around a couple of trees and SB when Nightfall proc'd (once).

This worked a lot better for me than trying to figure out the other steps so I offer it as, yet another, option.

I tried on my own several times and got killed. A horde guy started killing him and i quickly got a servant controlled and joined the kill. It was easy as pie. Don't know if you can use more than one servant at a time, but sure would help.

Just like Atatimelikethis said, if your first servant gets to looking like he's going to die, say, 15%, go over to a new troll and start using your scepter on him immediately, then send him after Darmuk. Use the Stun to keep him away from you while your new troll beats him up. You can also heal yourself while in disguise without breaking it.

Well i dont know what u guy are on about cause im running a 74 DK and when i pick up a servent there is only one ability it has and thats attack and armor reduction.

Applying the stun immediately once gives you a fair edge, and its cooldown will be ready when Darmuk enrages.

Did this easily with a single lvl 75 pet. The above non-stunning tactic failed thrice, while using a lvl 76 one and only spamming abilities #1 and #2.

I do have one problem though: My pet dies, and when I run to get another, Darmuk resets and the whole thing can start over.
I'm not sure how to tackle this. - It may have to do with the fact that I can't seem to make my Gutrip and Ferocious ... work. Only my stun works, and it workeed exactly the way you said it would, though Dormuk had too much life left for me to be able to do in with him myself.

I guess there's a tad of luck involved too, as there is in a lot of quests.

if it's not working for you make sure you have the right level of pet (level 76) and try to find 2 together, that way if you pet dies you should be able to pick up a second without resetting him (he has a large agro range). Better still, try to time your stunning force better - most times you should be able to complete this with 10% or so health left on your pet.

When I did it first time my servant and Darmuk died at the same time, without using any help. did NOT got any credit though for some reason :(
seems like the servant must be alive when slaying Darmuk.

Remember: Use all your abilitys when outfighting Darmuk when they're avaible, much as possible.

Solo'd on a 76 arcane mage. I suddenly lost my disguise and my minion was dying after having done maybe 10% damage. I tried to run, and use slow on him while I ran away, but he kept following me. Noticing that he wasn't catching up, I just kept hitting him with slow, then arcane blast 2 or 3 times, then arcane barrage. I kited him pretty far away, and was pretty surprised when he not only died, but it still counted for the quest.

Well i tried this on my level 79 Druid, with roughly 19k hp in bearform and in a mixture of greens and blues. To be honest it was a disaster from the start, I got a lvl 76 troll as recommended and had it attack Darmuk. Within 30 seconds the troll was down to 50% hp and getting crit for 5k+. My disguise then disintegrated and I decided to take on the leet by myself, as it had 'only 55k hp'. I then found that I was getting smashed for 2.5k + in bearform,even with demorazlizing roar working its magic. I may decide to just pug this quest as it seems not to be worth the time waste of getting a troll each time. = /

I tried it three or four times and failed badly. I then clicked on my pet before I used the enrage to see does it stack. It didn't stack but I went from my pet dying when Darmuk was at 50% to killing Darmuk when my pet was at 50%. Might of been just pure luck, or maybe the enrage doesn't work unless the pet is targeted.

If you can, just go and fight him normally. I was doing this quest and my disguise failed and Darmuk attacked me. Well, I just spanked him the "old fashioned way" and got the quest done. A lot more easier than trying to get the servant work. :)

Just a note for the spank method users: he starts to hit a bit harder after certain damage, so keep your heals 'til then.

This quest works perfectly fine and should take you 2 minutes to complete the following way:

Use the Scepter of Empowerment to control a level 76 Servant
Go near Darmuk, he will aggro you and shout "Your disguise doesn't fool me, fleshling! Your defeat will please Drakuru!
Set your servant to attack Darmuk and spam your servant's abilities all you want, just try to stun Darmuk when he enrages.

The above will work wherever you are on the platform, the only requisite is that you aggro Darmuk yourself to initiate the script detailed. There is no "tech" and the servant will handle him easily.

This quest is very simple, just use your heads a bit guys. MC one, have it go attack the guy. At around 10% go find another guy to MC. Use the stun, MC the other guy and have him go attack. You can literally not use any special attacks besides white damage to kill him using this technique. Good luck

Special note - after failing this as a lvl 75 warlock... four times in a row... don't DOT... don't even bother casting anything at the beast. Instead, use "Health Funnel" to keep you servant alive - using the pet bar while you are channeling health to keep the DPS high. I'm pretty sure you can use other health giving methods as well. Ok, first of all, the pet has no abilities. Second of all, by the time this guy kills the pet, only 1/10 of his life is down. Third of all, you can use heals, but if you try to "finish him off", your pet dissapears, all the ghouls around him fight you, and his hits do 4k damage, even when I use 1 hander and shield, blessing of kings, and devotion aura (and my plate armor, which is a given anyway). If you try to get one pet after the other, you'll find that only some pets are within darmuks combat range, like 1 or 2 of the. If you use them up, and the only trolls left are far away, you'll lose his interest, he'll return to his post, and regain all his health because of "evade". So what the #$%^ am I supposed to do?

Is this quest bugged now? I can use the 'Scepter of Empowerment' at max range out of combat. But no luck. The Servant of Drakuru people just run up and start attacking. Tried this, at max range / out of combat, several times.

THE easiest way to do this quest is to stand at a range near a 2nd troll, send your pet in, chain the CD of the stun, and when your pets about dead, use the scepter on a different troll....hell kill the first troll and because hes so slow, you can charm a new troll and send it at him before the guy reaches you.

I was able to finish this quest as a level 74 DK w/ a level 75 Servant... was just fine, and my Servant had about 1/5 of it's health left at the end.
The key to this fight: keep stunning. Use all three abilities as soon as they pop up, but focus on the stun. Don't cast any of your spells or else the disguise will fail and you're in for a world of hurt. I use Target of Target on always, and if you don't already use that, use it for this fight to keep an eye on both Darmuk's and your Servant's health bars. You shouldn't have much trouble with the fight this way.
Also, have the Servant attack and once it gets Darmuk aggro, put it on "Stay" so as to ensure that it keeps the aggro.
Piece of cake, takes about a minute to kill him.

Trying this on my 3rd character (a 77 rogue), I had all sorts of trouble. I had zero problems on my warlock or deathknight, and they did this at about the same level. I don't know if something has changed, but I tried all of the strategies described; Using a level 76 servant, fighting him at specific ends of the platform, spamming everything as it came up, and then saving the stun for when he enrages, nothing could take him below about 1/2 his hp before the servant croaked. When I tried getting a fresh servant while the 1st was at about 10% I had no problem grabbing one, but the servant couldn't pick up aggro, even through a stun, buff, rip, and a bunch of auto attacks, he just couldn't peel him off of me. Thankfully, having seen 99% of all of the Northrend quests on previous toons, I don't care to keep dying when I can just move on, but I post this here in case others find their case to be like mine. In general I find more bugged quests/weird anomalies/lag in this leveling content now than at launch, I wonder why?

Darmuk is at 31, 51 use the stun imediately before gut rip every time it's availailable and the fight seems too easy

I used my newly acquired minion to do most of the work, and used all three of his special abilities as soon as the cooldown was over. After he killed my minion he had about 3k health, so I was able to finish him off on my own.

If you do start fighting Darmuk, note the blight crystals he's throwing at you and the orange gas they create. You must keep moving so you aren't standing in the (hard-to-see) gas clouds.

Don't know about you guys, but my troll "pet" only had 2 abilities - Gut Rip and the stun attack.

Died 5 times, finally got *!@#ed and had an 80 help me kill it.

The big guy must be on a leash, because when he'd killed my servant (twice) both times I hit a health pot and ran off the end of the ramp toward the wall and dropped aggro. Next time I will definitely try it with a level 76 servant--hadn't even considered that before.

This is a 2-3 group Quest ALL day long.
Ive gotten killed at least 6 times and didnt even scratch the Elite.

Im a 78 Dark Knight and cant fire away from a distance.

It really helps if you have full health. I tried five times when my health was down to about 80% and could not get Darmuk down, but when I went and repaired the minion took him down without any problems and I did not have to pop out of disguise to help.

I can confirm that it is necessary to physically hit the attack button for you new minion and to work you way through his skills as he will not auto-attack.

It is also good to pop out and then back into the disguise before you start as previously mentioned. You can do this right on the side of platform that Darmuk is on without pulling him, and then snag a close-by troll. This gives you plenty of time to tranform a troll, fight Darmuk and then run back and turn in the quest.

This quest sucks if you dont do it just right

The easiest way to complete this quest is:

zap one of the guys to be your pet - make sure he is level 76 not 75

Use his attack buff and have him attack the bad guy.
Use his gut rip
Hit the attack button unitl Drakuru gets his 75% dodge buff

STUN.

wash rinse repeat amking sure you continually hit attack button as the auto attack is to slow.

k here's how ya do this one. take the rod drakuru gives you and warp back down to ground level. just to the south and east a bit is a giant mound, located at 31,49. you will find darmuk there. giant undead troll. hard to miss. he's a 76 elite.

1) make sure you're still disguised. may want to cancel and recast just to give yourself enough time.
2) use the rod on a nearby servant of drakuru. (smaller undead trolls, plenty all around the mound)
3)with your new elite pet in tow, take down darmuk.

one or two things to be mindful of. during the actual fight, stay back. helping you're servant in any way will pop your disguise, though this won't actually mess with the quest. the pet should be enough to take him out if you maximize all of its skills, although mine died just before darmuk was dead and i finished him of myself, so i can confirm either way counts as credit towards completion.

Grautod has some good points, but it's much easier than he thinks. This quest basically turns you into a pet class for a short time, with a twist. The twist is that your pet should do ALL of the damage; otherwise, your disguise will drop and you will be attacked by the numerous mobs around you. Here is how it goes:

1. Get yourself a level 76 pet (Servant of Drakuru).
2. If your disguise fails after getting the pet, you still have the pet. Just reapply in a safe place.
3. Go to Darmuk who is located around 31,49.
4. From a ranged distance, use the pet control bar to send in your pet to attack (CTRL-1).
5. Use the 3 attacks on the pet control bar (4, 5, 6) whever they are available.

That's all you need to do. If your disguise fails during the attack you may need to start over, if you lose too much time or get attacked. Just run to a safe place, rinse, repeat.

Wrath Classic Beta: A lot of the 2008/9 comments remain relevant. Make sure you have a fresh disguise, if it falls off you are done. Engage or pull Darmuk to the west of the platform, make sure he calls out your disguise, or the pet won't do enough damage. Also make sure you use the Enrage ability on the pet, or it's impossible. It was also bugging with "You can't attack that target" when using the Claw/Stun abilities, if you can't use those it's not possible, they need to be used on cooldown. The enrage only needs to be cast once. Try to get a level 76 version of the pet.

They must have changed something or some fibbing is going on about how easy it is/was in the past. The stun timer is very long now, it can not be so called spammed or Blizzard has timers all messed up in Lich King Classic. Darmuk's health is hardly touched when the "pet" dies. I have tried to get a second pet and not much joy there plus the disguise fails about that time. It is acting like a group quest or a higher level quest
