This item is dropped from the Cache of Winter from Hodir 25 man.

To access the Cache of Winter, you must defeat Hodir within 3 minutes from the start of the encounter. Hodir will destroy the Cache of Winter if he is not killed within this time-frame destroying all the bonus loot inside it.

This weapon is an Alagon drop. Blizzard Seems to have changed loot tables this week through a hot fix: weapons that once dropped off Alagon are now dropping off hard mode bosses.

With the MH/OH combo, you get moar pure spellpower and a balance between crit and haste, with the staff you get a @#$% ton of crit, but less spellpower and no haste. Better base stats on the staff too.

From the moonkin point of view, the extra int and extra crit on the staff (through the moonkin form buff) are comparable to the MP5 on the mace combo for mana regen, A lot of the armor in 3.1 has mostly haste on it, and crit certainly should not be ignored by a moonkin, so I think I will go with the staff on this one.

Just my theory, of course.

to be honest, id choose this over . its much easyer to get, providing you have an exeptional raid group with you, (dont even thinnk about pugging for this item yet =D).
here are the comparison results:

val'anr, hammer of the ancient kings:

constellus:
spell power 650 (587+63sp enchant)

intelect 55 (71 with +16 intelect jem/ 82 intelect with JC jem +27 intelect)
stamina 54 (78 stamina with +24 stamina jem, not that you want it ^^)
critical hit rating 29 (56 critcal strike with JC jem/ 45 critical stirke rating with +16 jem)
mp5 +19 ( +26 mp5 with +7 mp5 jem / +31 mps with JC jem +11 mp5

so as you can see, not only is constellus a match for val'anyr, hammer of ancient kings, it iis much easyer to come across. just make sure you have plenty of dkp points, and good luck getting either one, as they are both very good items.

Your are missing one point, legenary weapons will have their iLVL upgraded after patch, so they could still be the best.
