This is an semi easy archivement. You need to kill his "Ichor Globules" wich are also known as Adds, ASAP.
The adds will spawn all over the place. The best thing is to stay at the stairs near the Portal.

If they get killed all nearby Players will get thrown away. So its far more easier to have a full Ranged DPS grp.

The tank needs to stay at Icherons spawning point ( The place where you are able to hit him after spawn) and Taunt him as soon as possible.

Just before he splits, have someone click an activation crystal, which has about a 6s cast time. It will fill the room with lightning and kill all the globules. Achievement complete.

We tanked her in the middle of the room and everytime she split we clicked an activation crystal.

It worked for us, but keep an eye on her body at all times so that no globule sneaks past you.

As of December 6, 2008 there seems to be a bug that makes this fairly easy.

Ichoron happened to be our first boss. We managed to kill him, allowing only 1 add to merge - pitiful. Interestingly, I (tankadin), our priest healer and shaman all died - all 3 characters in our party who could rez. Of course, the instance wouldn't let us help our poor two rogues, so we had to wait for the waves to destroy the shield, and reset the whole instance.

On the second run, Ichoron again (as it should be), we did well - his bubble shattered, we killed the adds, but when it was time for him to come back to life, two Ichorons spawned - the one we were fighting now, and the one we had already killed.* The one from the last attempt had virtually no hit points and only protective bubble on, so the DPS killed him in only a few hits - and we got the achievement.

*I suspect this happened because of the mechanics of the encounter - the "coming back to life" spell probably resurrects any Ichorons in range, and we had both of them relatively close next to each other. So the spell brough both.

It is worth noting that if you fail the achievement, resetting the instance event for "another shot" at the boss does not work. Once he has died once, all of the following attempts the boss is replaced by a similar NPC named Swirling Water Revenant ; and EVEN IF you manage to keep all of the water globules away from him, the achievement will not be completed. This, I assume, is part of the same constituency that contributes to him not dropping loot each consecutive time.

It's actually pretty easy once you know exactly what you're doing. A few important points:

*Dps is more or less unimportant for this boss. Unless I'm mistaken until the last 'combined' phase (at which point he won't split again anyway) he has charges on his water shield which prevent almost all damage, and get reduced by 1 whenever he's attacked. At 0 charges he explodes and splits. Having one dpser stay off the boss and stand ready next to the switches will not make this fight more difficult.
*The switches have a ~6 sec cast time.
*The insta-kill aura seems to pulse 3 to 4 times, and takes a few secs after the end of the cast time to actually start pulsing. Whilst I wasn't the one using the switches, it certainly looked like using the switches very early (~8 charges left on shield) was very handy, as the final pulses of the aura came as the elementals started spawning - meaning they barely moved at all.
*The non-switch users job during the splits is to snare/stun the globules that get close to the body if they aren't killed immediately.
*Tank the boss in the centre of the lower area.

Just completed this before server shutdown tonight. We actually 4 manned it. We had one DPS still in PvP instance so we thought we would start VH without him. We got to the first boss (Ichoron) and basically we just pulled the switches for the 3 splits. Continued DPSing him down in between. Absolutely no problem at all. Needless to say the lock in PvP immediately called for a summon.

Also, the 5 of us have only just begun heroics and we are far from fully epicced out. We have a few epics between us but we are mostly made up of crafted items, regular instance drops and quest rewards. It just shows that you don't have to be geared to do this instance or the achievement, just have a good functioning group working together.

We unfortunately didn't get to finish the entire instance because we started it with 20 minutes to go before shutdown. We got the second boss down and then hearthed out.

Easy achievement. Just a couple of points:

This is order of crystals I find easiest:

One to the left of the pool he spawns in (if you're standing at the entrance to VH). Use this first for convenience, especially if you're ranged dps.

Second to the right of the steps as you stand at the entrance to VH. Just down the stairs, to the right, on the wall. Use this second.

Third is in the left corner (standing at the entrance to VH) on the wall, between the entrance and the Ethereal boss. Use this third.

By knowing where the crystals are in advance, you can ran straight there as soon as you click the previous one, which means no matter how quick your group is on dpsing the boss, you will always be ready to click. As others have said, having 1 less dps to break his bubble makes little difference to your group, and as a shadow priest I thew on dots as I ran, and still had ample time to click.

As long as the boss doesn't die, you can try again for the achievement. You just can't kill him. Once he is dead you get the Swirling Water Revnant instead, but if you think they came together, wipe and start over

Oh, its also a lot easier now as the crystals click instantly, there is no "cast time"

Why am i the only person that can't do this? I've done the boss 3 times now. we hit the crystal right when they spawn. kill them before they really can move, none "merge". I tank him in the middle while a range dps hits it.

This is one of the last 3 achievements I need, I'm just curious before I run it and mess up. Where do the adds spawn from? Say if the boss was tanked in the center of the room, where would they spawn around him, how many adds are we talking, and how much time is there between them spawning and reaching the boss. I just ask because of how random this boss is to spawn, and I want to get it right.

If I were to leave a tree druid at the top of the stairs, and have him hit the switch a second or two after the adds spawn, will that do it? Do they only spawn once? I know it's a couple questions, but it's a few I don't believe were covered above.

Just attempted using the crystals. Did not work. Going to try again in future. They may have taken out the ability to get this achievement witht he crystals in 3.1. Will keep you all updated.

Added a screenshot to help those who are having trouble finding what items to click for this achievement.

Obviously it will take some time to get approved, and I hope they do approve of it.

Basically they are little red crystals on golden holders and they are spread all across the walls of the instance. Look especially near the holding/stasis pens for the bosses.

As you come inside the instance, make sure you take a good and long look at the female NPC standing at the very entrance. To her left (your right) will be this very sort of crystal. Once you start the instance by talking to her, she will activate it and bolts of lightning will pretty much kill everything (as you've probably seen). This same effect is achieved when you press any of the other crystals strewn about.

I just recently got the achievement and it took no time at all. The crystals activate instantly so, it should go quickly and smoothly.

Just a quick note also...

The crystals seem to be only be able to be used once. So through the fight, you will click all of the 3 crystals around the room once each; one new crystal each split.

This is one of 2 achievements I have left for the Red-Proto.

Fluffed it the first time as I tried clicking the crystal I had successfully clicked previously - no zappy zappy, no achievement. Stuffed it again this morning, as through lack of communication someone else clicked a crystal, and so no third crystal was available for the third split.

Due the the nature of H VH, players become saved as the first boss is revealed, rather than after he is downed. This is to prevent people from avoiding the harder bosses. However, if the random number generator has been unkind to you and you have been having trouble attempting this achievement, this mechanic can be used to your advantage.

You can either run another character, or have one of your helpful friends, run this dungeon. If Ichoron comes, simply wipe it and find something else to do. Now, all group members are saved to an H VH where Ichoron will be guaranteed to come. Later, form a group with one of the original members, and a bunch of people who don't have the achievement.

It is best to bring guildies who are generally more willing to help you out, but you can also find puggers who are willing to take the wipe if you toss them some gold to cover repairs and time (I paid 100g to a couple of them). Just don't try to run this if its the daily.

WIth the 3.2 lockout extensions, you can actually keep the saved instance more than 1 day if your unlucky friend is not available for a few days.

Is it just me or does ichoron not spawn alot?
This is my last achievement for Glory and i'm sacrificing my exams to get this done but the daily grind of the same bosses without Ichoron is quickly becoming annoying..

He used to spawn pretty often before. Now he's one of the rarest spawns in the boss cycle inside Violet Hold. Even with the random heroic option, having this run 3-4 times per day proves to be a pain.

It's also one of the 5 last achievements I need for the Red Proto-Drake and I already have the strange feeling it's going to last until it's the last one in there. Annoying, isn't it ?

I failed the first time because i went to the wrong crystal. Two of the crystals are located on the left and right side of the entrance, mounted on the walls, closer to the portal spawns. The third is located on the wall where Ichoron spawns from the water.

The crystal located at the entrance door should not be used when attempting to complete this achieve. It won't activate.

I've not seen anyone else say it, so I'll just put it here.

There are actually 5 crystals in the instance, the one at the entrance can NOT be used.

The first 3 are on the lower floor, one left, one right and the middle one left to Ichoron's cell.
The remaining 2 are on the higher floor, 1 left of the Voidwalker boss, and the other one to the left of Moragg's cell. Can be handy if someone accidentally uses a crystal when they shouldn't have.
