This is one of the easier damage rush achievements, since it requires a paltry 1068 average DPS from your four non-healers. Even considering the movement requirements, that's easier than say, Good Grief; that requires 1798 average DPS between the four. The only challenge would be ensuring your group's tight movement in and out of Lightning Nova.

A well geared group with a strong AE healer could also simply stand in the Nova, reducing the challenge significantly.

I just got it with my group today, 5 wipes to down him, your healer must stop all heals + spells and run along with the group, We used a strategy of running down the line twice, and up the line twice etc etc. It works perfectly and we had the dps to do it. :)

we weren't that geared either, I'm in northrend blues barely even hitting the 540 defense cap, 533 actually. Good luck we didn't really aim for it it just happened.

Our strategy for completing this achievement was a little different: don't bother to move at all during the Lightning Nova. Players with damage mitigation or invulnerability abilities should stagger them to take the load off the healers, and off-healers should help to get everyone topped up before and after the Nova.

For example, our most recent success involved a Prot Warrior, Rogue, Ret Pally, Frost Mage and Resto Druid. Everyone stands at Loken's feet, burns their cooldowns and burns him down. When he starts to cast the first Nova, the pally bubbles and the mage uses Ice Block followed by Cold Snap. After the Nova, everyone gets topped up by the Druid and Pally. Second Nova, the Rogue uses his Cloak. Third Nova, the Mage uses his Ice Block -- if Loken even lives that long.

Because the party is able to keep up DPS while they would normally be moving, DPS goes up significantly.

If you wanna make it really easy for your healer, you could also bring an Unholy DK for Anti-Magic shield. He has to time this very well though, if the shield is put up too early the AoE will eat through it before Lightning Nove gets cast.

With that, it shouldn't take you more than 3 Lightning Nova max before he goes down. That's with blues-geared DPS too.

This achievement requires you to kill Loken before his third Lightning Nova, basically. If everyone in the group has at least 16,000 hitpoints, this achievement won't be a problem. You don't need a priest or a druid either. Naturally, the fight is meant to be done in a specific way. You're supposed to run away from Loken as the Lightning Nova commences.

However, due to the way his lightning pulse works (the further you are away from him, the more damage you take), in order to do this achievement, you're much better off getting some nature resist (don't gimp yourself with nature resist gear, just get mark of the wild, or a nature resist totem, or nature resist aspect) and staying in for the lightning nova. After the nova, everyone gets topped off over time, and DPS continues. He should die shortly before or after his second lightning nova.

The reason you won't want to run away is that, while you won't take the lightning nova damage, you will be losing DPS time running away from him, and back to him. If you run away and back to him each time, that's ~20 seconds of non-DPS, and you only have 2 minutes to kill him, not to mention that you'll be taking damage from his other lightning attacks as you're running back to him (which, given how far away you are from him, will do a lot of damage).

Just did this achievement for my heroic group with a feral druid tank, 2 ret pallies and a mage. We stayed in for lightning nova with only motw on as any kind of nature resistance buff and our mage died to the first nova because she only had around 12k. Even with just 4 of us we easily downed him in time for the achievement.

Tactic we used: Group consisted of myself (Retribution paladin), a death knight tank, a mage and two shamans (one healer, one Enhancement DPS). The tank suggested to us that we stay put during the Lightning Nova as long as the healer had both Chain Heals spammed at all times and her Nature Resist totem was up. Dead in about a minute ten.

when i got this achievement for a couple of people ( i already hat it done on a regular run beforehand) we wiped 2 or three times due to people being movement impaired and generally idiotic. ( priest without coh even though he was deep holy and similar stuff). we were a mage, a hunter, a ret pally and me, unholy tank. after the second or third wipe i got fed up and told the priest to just spam prayer of healing, huddle up and burn him down. first nova i used my amz which negated almost the whole dmg and after that the priest just spammed prayer of healing and we made it easily.

so a tactic i devised specifically for my semi retarded group got us the achievement as well :D
granted it was not really rocket science, but it shows that this achievement is a lot easier than it looks. at least compared to volazjs quick demise for example ^^

edit: why does this get rated down? it is usually easier for everyone to move, but some people don`t manage this boss, so this strat works well for those as well as for those who want this achievement.

Just did this with me, a Unholy DK (22k HP), Warlock (15k HP), DK Tank (30k HP), Ret Palla (18k HP) and a Resto Shaman (13k HP).

We went inn and the shaman popped up Nature Res totem.
We all stood close to eachother and just nuked the boss down and stood still when the Lightning Nova came. The shaman got to about 1k HP at each Lightning Nova but it went fine :)

Not as tough as it seems :)

Timely Death is pretty easy as long as your group is competent.

If your group is full of ranged DPS, they can simply stack away from the tank, and the tank runs to them once Loken casts Lightning Nova. It pretty much kills any challenge the achievement could have.

Yeah fairly easy with a good dps group. Did it with 2 Warlocks, Warrior(Tank), Druid (Healer) and Pally (Ret) all pushed over 2k dps on him. Credit always goes to Healer otherwise (Fail)

Retribution paladin;

Restoration shaman;

Ignored anything, including novas, just stood on top of the tank and nuked. Took 41 seconds to kill.
All in all it requires a good dps on him to kill fast.
If you are sure your dps is good but got any doubts regarding a healer - you can get outta novas as well - you will make it anyway.
If you got a decent healer but dps could do better then ignore novas - good aoe healer can handle.

I tried this last night with a group since the regular dungeon daily was here anyway (yes it was on heroic).

Feral druid (tank) (mix of bought blues and epics, 1st heroic instance tanked)
Destro warlock (me) (mix of Icecrown quest blues, heroic blues, and heroic epics)
Resto druid (not sure of gear, but did great)
Ret pally (not sure of gear)
MM hunter (mix of epic lv 70, green icecrown quest reward, blue, and epic gear)

We were able to stack up on him and survive the nova even though our hunter had 16k health buffed. There wasn't much strategy, just stack on him and DPS as much as possible (constant heals from healer) and we survived. But we missed this achievement...BY LESS THAN TWO SECONDS! It kinda sucked too because I had my hopes up when we got the first two achievements here (first boss because I forgot to mention the buff the boss gets and we beat him anyway, second one just killing him without much of a plan).

I guess what I'm saying is if you have a group with everyone at lv 80 quest reward blues or better, a tank that can keep aggro, and a healer that can heal through the nova, this shouldn't be hard. Our hunter might have been the weak link in DPS, but he, along with the tank and myself, are in the same guild and we wanted close to a guild run. The healer is a friend of our hunter, so the only one in the group not close to us was the pally.

Hardest to heal by a Holy Paladin because they have no AoE heals, no HoTs and still have to walk away from his nova.
I advice you bubble through the first or second nova so you can keep on healing (mostly second nova, because then people will NEED your healing).
Also don't stay too much near the boss as you need the time to finish that last 0.2 seconds of your holy light and die while running, when you're getting 10% of your health a tick you should be just fine (do remember to heal yourself on time because of Loken's Arc Lightning).

Simple as simple can get, 213 geared Shaman (resto) and any combo of DpS/casters. All party members just stand under his feet tank grabs aggro shammy bloodlusts and just chain heals with a riptide at random (usually the lowest person's health. Totems wraith of air, stoneskin, mana and flame toungue. Fight takes no more than 53 seconds. might have to pop manatide totem depending on how big shamans mana pool is.

On my first run of Halls of Lightning, I was the only person of our 5 people to get this achievement when Loken hit it.

Shows how easy it is. Simply don't let up on your dps and he should fall fast.

I would imagine that this makes it easier because you only need 4268.98333 dps to get him down in the 2 minutes.

With that group make up I Could imagine it would be a cake walk given the abilities of the group.

With a bad geared warrior tank, that is holding threat off 2 Ulduar damage dealers(although i would imagine that they are holding back quite a bit) I would say you are pushing 1k damage per second yourself?

A elemental shaman I would say could pull 1k damage per second easy at 80, most likely closer to 2k. The elemental shaman would drop Nature Resistance Totem(Rank 6) and that would help mitigate some of the damage coming in.

But, I think that the Ulduar paladin and Shaman made this a bit easier all by themselves.

The Ret paladin I am sure was using Divine Storm every time it came up, and that would heal 3 people in the party every time he hit it. If he had the Glyph of Divine Storm it would of made it all that much easier, but I would bet all the way down to my last copper that he didn't even think about getting it. (seeing how it wouldn't improve his damage per second at all)

Then the Restoration shaman in Ulduar gear. This is the real prize winner here. I am betting that the shaman had the Glyph of Chain Heal, and that would make their chain heal hit all four players in the group all at ounce making this fight much easier from the healers standpoint. If they didn't have the glyph then they would still only have one person left to heal after each nova, and not two.

I am kinda mad that I didn't come up with this group make-up myself. It does look like a group make-up made in heaven. Another thing is that everyone can hit in melee(sp?) meaning that the whole group can just stand in one spot and nuke the boss till he is dead.

I have only tried this once myself (I was unsuccessful).
My make-up was
Holy Paladin(Me)
Frost Death Knight (Tank)
Two Hunters(Not sure on spec, but I know they weren't beast mastery)
arms/furry warrior

At the end of the day we didn't have the chops to pull it off.
