You have already seen them during previous quests, floating around Kolramas. Some irritating Skimmers won't indicate a real problem to that easy q.

Dont move until it gives you credit for each sprayer, it will take a second or two past the cast bar.

For the few people that still use mote extractors, I wasted about 10 minutes looking for the web shooter until I realized it had the same graphic.

The webshooters animation is wrong for shapeshifted druids -- the webs shot out from a few feet over your head, as if you were in non-kitty form.

I went to Spec. Cogwheel but she didn't offer me the quest. Does anyone know if this is part of a group of quests or why she wouldn't offer me the quest? I want that axe!

So no one actually links how you get to this quest. I figured it out (wanted an item for tanking) so I'll link the order the quests come in.
In order to open up this quest you have to first complete:

Throwing Down https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=12598 (this opens quests from our little gnome friend).
Skimmer Spinnerets https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=12553
Crashed Sprayer https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=12583

And then the quest is available.
I'm not 100% sure, but it's also possible you first have to have done a few of the quests at the Argent Stand in order to get that quest to open up (I don't think so... but I forgot to check, cause I ended up doing those first anyways).

this quest seems to be bugged to me, i can only down one of them and then they all turn grey as if someone else had already attacked them and they all say they r tagged.... i had to log out for like an hour to untag them so i could get another.....

If you have aspirations to be like Spiderman, this quest gives you your time to shine.

Channeling the web makes your pet run towards the Sprayer (underneath), if it's in Defensive Stance. If there're mobs near it, you know what happens.
If not, start over at level 1.

Level 58 Demonology Warlock. (Patch 10.2.0) THIS QUEST IS BUGGED. Tried this quest 4 times last night. Found the sprayers, targeted the sprayers, activated the item, got the channel animation, and got the crash animation. Count 0/5. Tried reloading, tried relogging, tried zoning out and zoning in- tried to crash the ship again- no change in count after each attempt.

Tonight, I had my friend a level 60 Arms Warrior come and help me. They caught up the quest (it is unshareable). They targeted the ship their channel made a web appear on the ship during crash animation. Their crash counted for me. I tried to do my own channel, no increase in crash successes for either of us. We tried one together. It did crash but did not count for with of us. I thought maybe it had to do with my pets (I did not know how to dismiss them, so changed to destruction spec, pets went away). I tried to crash a ship using the item- got the webbed part of the animation- crash count 5/5 for both of us, quest complete.

TLDR; THIS QUEST IS BUGGED. If you are a class with pets dismiss them first, or you will not get crash counts correctly.

Specialist Cogwheel at Drak'Sotra has asked you to use the Tangled Skein Thrower in order to cause the destruction of 5 Plague Sprayers.

Description

There! One tangled skein thrower ready and waiting for you to take those plague sprayers down.

You just aim and let loose. The webbing should foul up their hover spells long enough to cause them to crash to the ground just like Kolramas.
