If you're having trouble getting your ram to go, remember to repeatedly use the Ram Racing Reins that you get with this quest- but remember, use them too much and your ram will become exhausted!

Trot - Simply use the Ram Racing Reins after every two steps the ram takes and you will maintain this speed easily.
Canter - Use the reins once every second.
Gallop - Spam the button! Do this one last since it will fatigue your ram fast.

I got a chuckle after reading the name of the quest when I grabbed it. It's a reference to Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, with a rather infamous line by Jake Lloyd (Li'l Anakin) "Now THIS is Pod Racing!" from the Podracing scene.

For the noobs - drag the Ram Racing Reins from your inventory to the Action Bar and mash the corresponding button fervently - watching for fatigue as Onyx suggests - as Left-clicking may result in a serious finger injury! MOST important are the food baskets that kersje mentioned - you can do the following quest(s) at full gallop if you run down the left side of the road and circle the one in the Ram pen... good luck!

During the quest to run back and forth to Kharanos for tickets, I find it easiest to head straight there and don't follow the road, and try to keep at the 2nd speed it only increased by 1-2 every second and when it gets a little high on the exhaustion rate (around 80+) just run to a apple bushel. Made it a lot easier for me on the quest. Or you could go balls out top speed and stop by a bushel, tried it once, but only got 2 run back and forths until I got full on exhaustion on my ram.

This is explanation of the horde run outside org in durotar. and explains how to get a max of 8 barrels thats x16 tokens in 4 mins by rushing the ram at full speed all the way,,, explanation below.

during this quest there is no need to worry about fatigue u are meant to hit the reins as fast as possible. there is barrels of apples along the road which refresh your rams fatigue to zero some are hiding behind objects some are in plain veiw however there are three u can use so u do not have to go slow at all. Every time i do this q i do it at full speed the apple barrel locations are as follows, there are 4 i know of but only 3 to use:

1. as u set off down the road there is a barrel of apples just below the brewfest drinking area on the road itself to the right side of the road. (although this barrel is the middle of the three its still the first u hit)

2. as u aproach the gnome at the bottom who throws the barrel to u, do not go streight for him look to the left and a little behind his possision u will see a apple barrel on the road there run to that from the right side of the road as u hit the barrel and turn to go back up he throws the barrel as its automatic.

3. on the way back up u will have to use barrel no.1 again to keep max speed then as u drop off the barrel to the guy at the top the is the final barrel of apples behind his tent, inside the pen of his brewfest mounts on display. as u aproach him go past him then round to the right of the tent and you will see it just inside the pen.

Blizzard removed the ability to stop while on the ram by pressing back this year, so you now have to get off the ram to actually stop. It's easier to talk to the NPC when you are not moving, so jump off the Ram once you completed all objectives.

I did the quest, and recieved my award.
Afterwards I had the opportunity to ride the ram again, and collect more tokens (2 per keg gathered).
After dismounting again, I found myself in the situation of not getting back on a ram again.
Driz Tumblequick would give me new reins, but those aren't to much help!

How can I get back on a ram? Do I have to wait until tomorrow?

If you watch the buff area on your screen, you'll see that at trot it's one color-greenish to me; canter is yellow ball & gallop is a pinkish one...I just kept an eye on the colors & got it done with no problems.

This was recently confirmed in a blue post by Blizz rep. Kisirani.

I'm just popping in to confirm this resets every 18 hours, not 12 as has been the case in previous years.

It's every 18 hours from when you last did it, and no, there's no place to check when your time will be up.

The idea is it's meant to be done once a day. The 18 hour reset is there so the time is more flexible for people who might do it later one day and earlier the next, as opposed to, say, a 23 hour reset which would be a significant detriment to those with limited but inconsistent time to play.

If you can happen to do it once every 18 hours on the dot rather than once a day, that's a bonus, not a punishment for the lack.

If you're looking for the exclamation mark, you won't see it, as it's not a quest. Speak with the ram master and he should have a gossip option to set you to delivering kegs.

It's all about timing.
Getting it to a steady gallop is easy, just whip it constantly, then slow down clicking the whip to a Canter. Some people find it hard to keep her to a trot, just go slow, you have lots of time to try it out. Most importantly HAVE FUN! :D

Follow-up is repeatable every 12h, also there is no Quest-Mark above the NPC, just talk to him.

Equip the reins from your bag to your quick bar and click on them. The more you click, the faster it goes. There is a fatigue meter where your buffs are. When it fills to 100, the ram is fatigued. The top two speeds drain fatigue and the bottom two recover it. Took me ages to work out how to make the ram go faster and judging by the number of toons shuffling around, I wasn't the only one.
