Something about this quest does make it really hard. As a 31 warrior (I was only in there for the ore) I got killed once!

Anyway, there are three waves of Kobolds with what I thought were generous breaks in between. Something went off when I did this quest, and the second group didn't appear. Not an oppressive bug really. It would be a good idea to do this one with a friend.

This is a ridiculously hard quest for it's level. I tried this as a level 28 rogue with reasonably good gear and failed it three times. Once I just got overwhelmed by mobs, the second and third times I failed to aggro a mob that killed Piznik. Upon first approaching Piznik you'll have to kill 5-6 mobs (watch out, they tend to stack on each other, so what first looked like four mobs to me was actually six) just to get the quest. Also as a previous poster mentioned, Piznik has very low health - he can be killed by a single mob, and rather quickly if you're chasing a fleeing mob up the tunnel; you HAVE to aggro all the mobs that spawn. The first wave is pretty easy, only three, but the next wave had five, and then a couple additional adds respawned in the hallway I originally cleared to get to the quest giver. What finally worked for me was waiting at the slight bend in the tunnel where the waves spawn, quickly sapping one, tagging each of the other spawns to keep them on me, and killing the geomancers first. Made a quick target macro for them as they can get lost in the crowd. Crippling poison recommended to deal with runners when you're frostbolted.

Indeed it is hard, I tried to solo this as a lvl 24 warrior, with 1.4k hp I survived the first 2 waves, but then at the 3rd I killed the overlord and another guy and almost killed the other 2s, but eventually died and I had no potions left so I didn't try it again...

Garbage quest for a garbage item. It didnt say 'elite' or bring friends or anything, but not only did i wipe on it (23 warrior), but the mobs didnt despawn, so when i ran back, they wiped me again, and all the trash in the cave respawned, so i had to corpserun to get out of their with my full red gear and half health.

In case you are masochistic enough to attempt it, the quest is at 71, 59. You have to go inside the south mine in Windshear Craig and sort of wind down and around to the very bottom.

It's an easy quest to miss, and there's a very good reason for that: it sucks. Three waves of mobs spawn to attack you. Third wave came as I was still fighting the second one, killed me. The mine itself is choked with kobold miners on a miserably fast respawn rate, and the quest itself is more or less unbeatable for a soloer.

BTW this attempt was made as a level 25 tauren druid. The mobs were green and my healing timing was good, and they still took me down.

I tried this as a 22 Shaman, and at that lvl, impossible.
And the Quest was yellow even, shouldn't be impossible.

25 rogue, okay gear (mostly greens & some blues), easy to find the guy if you just hug the left wall BUT it's insanely impossible to do. So far I've failed and the gob hasn't even bothered to respawn. Great, at least I can stealth back out.

Never assume an inside quest is an escort, as I did. I mistakenly thought I'd just go in, help kill mobs on the way out and collect some easy loot. This was harder than the gorilla attacks in STV.

Don't bother unless you just like dying or you're totally twinked out.

Edit: It doesn't work to take too many people with you either. Very cramped quarters, maybe a 2- or 3-man can hold down the main "room" (it's more like a closet) & protect the miner. Anymore and the cramped quarters, with people swinging and killing, you won't be able to see your attackers. I guess just set to auto attack & REMEMBER THE ALAMO!

Completed successfully as a 25 BM hunter using a 25 boar pet. I'm no twink, but my gear was moderately enchanted using armor kits and simple enchants appropriate for my level. I was using minor mana oil, a sharpening stone on my other dagger, a scroll of stamina, 6 stamina food buff and a minor rejuvenation potion.

I pulled each mob carefully, making sure not to pull aggro from my pet, on the way in, never fighting more than 3 at a time. I used a potion only once. Once the quest started to protect him, my pet managed to keep aggro most of the time as I healed it moderately. I used a frost trap in case I was charged but the goblin was not attacked once. Then I left the place the same way, did not die once or come close.

That said, I can agree how it would be hard had I not had the pet, or if I was a clothie. My recommendation, if you're not a hunter, is bring a friend, or make sure you have solid gear, use all the buffs and consumables you have, and fight smart, you cannot simply tank & spank this.

I agree that the reward was kinda lame, especially since it was mail boots.

Failed miserably with a well geared 26 shaman. Killed first two waves, but the 3rd wave (which had a melee + 3 casters that each hit for 60) aggro'd the respawns in the tunnel and i had 7 mobs on my nuts.

Do not bother with the quest, total waste of time.

totally ridiculous quest if you ask me
i got my ass wooped as a 25 warr
the wave itself isn't as hard as it may seem
but the respawn rate of other kobolds are just ridiculous

but i guess it's doable when you blow all your CD
my warrior's major spell was on CD so i can't tell (meaning retaliation)

PS. when other adds come, make sure you kill the geomancer first
as i mentioned it above, third wave itself can easily be solved with retaliation

Soloed this quest with a level 25 prot warrior in the 3.0 patch. Not hard at all, didn't even have to pop any cooldowns. For any squishy class I'd imagine this quest would be pure hell. I suggest just skipping this quest period, unless your going for the loremaster achievements.

Not a walkover, but doable as a 25 ret pally. Used Ret aura, buffed myself with Righteous Fury and Consecrated when the waves came in to gather them up. Had to heal myself during the second and third waves, but there was enough of a gap for me to drink.

Soloed this as a 25 enhancement shammy with bad gear (besides Reef Axe). What saved me were Gift of the Naaru and Lifeblood. I failed the first time, but the second time I remembered to save BOTH those DoTs for the final wave (the third wave).

There are two entrances (one at each end of the building). Hug the left wall if you enter from the south. Hug the right wall if you enter from the North.

BTW, I stumbled upon this as a level 33 rogue while leveling lockpicking and still failed the first time. I wasn't expecting the third wave. Piznik went after a kobold while I was fighting others. I figured he could handle one of them for a few seconds. Wrong!

Just tried this quest, started it and ended up standing there for a good 2 minutes. Finally I decided to leave and sure enough all 3 waves spawned at the same time, needless to say my 22 warrior had no chance....

Despite what is said here, you can pick this quest up before level 22, I was able to do it at level 18 (with a little help of course).

Edit: Wowhead seems to have updated this to the proper minimum required level: 17

Lvl 24 prot warr solo, one of the easiest protection quests ive ever done. I just popped shield block all three times and AoEd them to death. I dont really have an idea of what geared is at this level so i cant comment, however with the 2nd wave i reccomend line of sighting the casters by running past the corner

If you do this quest at high level, after the first "wave" you might think the quest is bugged, because nothing happens.

Actually, you will kill the "waves" very quickly, and the timer between them is fixed (45 seconds or so). So be patient, and wait for the next wave, don't abandon the quest angrily like I almost did :)

The location of the mine where you need to find this guy is SE of Windshear Crag. After you click on him he will mine and there will be three waves of attacks while he mines .... so be ready .... uhmmm but I did this at LVL 57 (pally) so it was no problem

Piznik is in a short side tunnle at 71,60.

Beware for the mages in the second wave. If Piznik dies it takes him - at least - 5 minutes to spawn.

According to CT add on this Quest is a level 22 Quest, I am a level 26 Warrior and finding it tricky, Its the third wave that gets me, I think this should be a group Quest.

i tired this quest at 27 while doing the brutal armor quest i died the first time at about the 4 or 5th wave but was really close to dying earlier

Don't know that the waves are about but when I found him, he was surrounded by about 8 gnolls. I died trying to nab them ( some were double stacked so I didn't know how many till I died ). When I came back to start the quest all I had to do was kill the respawns and they were slow and easy. There was only one real wave and that was an overlord and 4 guards. I did it as a 28 Hunter so I can say that I had it a little easy. But at the level the quest was for I can understand that it should be a group quest. No way a 22 can handle that one group let alone possible wave or two of respawns.....

I'm a Warrior at lvl 34 and the quest seems still troubling. Mobs are easy killed but they are so many that if one escape can kill the miner at your back while you are fighting... Maybe at upper levels with fast killing it is easier to protect this (slow!) miner.

The regular mobs respawn during the quest that is why the waves are harder than they should be. Instead of just the quest mobs you are also fighting respawns

The respawns in this cave are insane. You fight your way in, and get to the quest giver who is surrounded by at least 4 or 5 mobs. Once you hit one, the rest just steam roll you. I made it to the last wave, but died really fast due to respawns in the area. Dont attempt this without at least 3 people, or you and a good healer. It cant be solo'd at the quest level.

When being attacked by the waves, I jumped up on the ledge that is in the corner of the cave and they stopped attacking and just stood there, watching me. I couldn't attack them; they evaded my arrows, but it did give me time to heal.

I dont usually have a hard time doing quests but this was a pain. As a 25 druid with ok gear I did it on the 3 try when I had figured out what types of mobs attacked and the respawns didnt happen during the most crittical times. When I was done I had killed 15 mobs. 3 of them where respawns. Use the "shelf" if you need to to, that evades them. First pull is 3 meele guys, second is 2 meele guys and 2 casters, the casters hit for 70dmg so take them down assap. Then its a overlord and 4 helpers. I took helpers then the overlord. Good luck, you will need it if you are around 22-25

To all you posters who saved my 25 Rogue what would probably have been a frustrating series of unnecessary deaths. Rapid respawns are really irritating, particularly when you haven't killed all the original ones yet.

This looks like a typical farming quest, but with some added annoyances.

all the kobolds in the area also seem to hit harder than their level would allow.

and this quest involves four waves of four kobolds, with barely any rest time between them.

CONCLUSION: this quest totally sucks and is not worth it. It may be listed as level 22, but if you're doing it at that level, you've got 4 buddies with you. You ain't soloing this til 28 or so.

Attempted to do this quest as a level 24 Warrior and I didn't have a chance. Also after ressing 5 times only to aggro 3 mobs i had to ressurect at the spirit healer. Now I have to wait 10 minutes that I paid for only because Blizzard can't design it's goddamned game.

I went as a 23 druid and got to him in stealth no problem but you have to defend him while he mines the ore and you get about a dozen mobs attacking you. I think a group of stealth classes could do it fairly easy but Im gonna wait on this one for a while.

I didn't find this mission until I was level 34, so at that point it was a piece of cake.

The patrols consist of two sets of four-creature mobs (two melee and two magic attackers)from the hallway. Then, there are a couple of solo attackers that appear closer to Piznik. It takes about 5 minutes of waiting for Piznik to mine the ore.
The patrols range from level 22 to 24 (non-elite).

I'm currently lv 31 warrior i'm still having a bit of trouble. I was on the way doing Brutal armor and stumbled on this goblin, Piznik, who gives the "Gerenzo's Orders" quest.

The easiest way to get to Piznik is probably from the Eastern (far) entrance. Don't even bother entering from the Western (first) entrance you see at the mine at 74,60. Piznik is around 71,60 in a single dead-end arm of the cave. If you take the Eastern entrance, just keep to your left and you will see the dead-end arm. Just talk to him to get the quest. You may need SuperShredder 6000 from Ziz first.

I encountered at least 4 waves of enemies. first group was 1 Overlord and 3 Diggers. 2nd group was 2 Overlords and 2 Geomancers, 3rd group was 3 Geomancers and 1 overlord, 4th group was about 2 Overlords (lv 21), 3 Stonecutters (lv 23) and 2 Geomancers. Keep in mind that the kobolds flee, and attract help, which repops quickly. The singles mentioned below are actually repops. This is a little difficult if you don't have Area of Effect spells, which Warriors really don't have.

Or... maybe my camera settings suck :)

First wave is 3 level 21 melee mobs.
Second wave is 2 melee and 2 caster mobs levels 22-23.
I was unable to solo as a 26 priest.

NPC is within a mine next to the large exclamation mark on the mini map. He is far in with many mobs at 22-23, once you enter he is on the tunnel on the left, bring a friend with you because it is hard. Btw be sure to have free inventory space when you do it because he gives a quest item at the end (no big deal though just talk to him again and he will give it to you if completed).

So I just spent nearly an hour clearing out a full cave to get to a quest deep inside, only to find it is a group quest after I start it and die on the very 1st wave, lvl 27 palli BTW.

This should definitely be treated as a group quest. I attempted twice alone on my level 23 Hunter, but failed both times. The groups themselves (particularly the second group that spawns) are tough enough due to the number of enemies and the attack speed buff from the Overseers, but when coupled with respawns will likely spell death for a level-appropriate solo player.

If you insist on trying alone, bring at least two healing potions and make sure you have your utility skills off CD.

(Classic) Difficulty of an Elite/Group quest at least, rewards of a green quest of your level.

Absolutely not worth it. Disregard this quest unless you're grinding Ratchet rep for whatever reason. There's almost nothing worth the stress here.

Truly crazy. Not the first time green solo quests are way beyond level.

First time after I got killed, I got killed again because the mobs were not despawning.

I gave up and came back a couple of hours later to claim my body, but there were at least six mobs at the end of the tunnel where Piznik (And my body) were.

I ended up taking resurrection sickness.

25 Shaman. Not a chance.

This quest seems to be bugged on classic. I've done it on 2 different characters and both times is was the same. One time alone and another time with 2 of us (I failed trying it alone).

In each case we got there and found all the mobs that are supposed to spawn were already there just standing in a tightly packed group. Perhaps from someone else trying the quest. Managed to pull and kill them.

Then upon actually starting the quest, they weren't appearing for a while. Moved along the cave a bit and then suddenly all waves appeared at the same time right on top of me. No chance to take them out before dying which fails the quest.

I set out to complete all the quests in Durotar, Barrens, Stonetalon, Ashevale, Thousand Needles and Desolace as a shaman. This quest broke me, I will not be finishing this quest until I am very bored and it is grey in my quest log. The third wave killed off my totems, me and then the goblin all in quick succession. I went in for a second attempt hoping to time my health pot better and to try to kite them a little bit only to find the third wave refused to de-spawn as well as now being flanked by re-spawns in the cave, they killed me as soon as I rezzed. Recommend bringing in a mage with the CC + AOE if you must complete this quest at the level it was designed.

If you start this quest just after someone else completes it, no mobs will spawn.

I got there just as two Warlocks completed it and left, and when I started the quest, nothing happened. I sat there and waited, ready to fight, but nothing ever spawned. 5 minutes later the NPC finished and the quest completed.

Tried to solo this as a lvl 27 Dwarf Rogue with BiS-enchant on my gear and poison on my daggers, and failed due to cave respawn. I started to re-clear the cave in a hurry, and wave 2 spawned right upon me.

Easily soloable as a 28 Rogue. You can either kill the trash or sneak past it, but the waves are not difficult at all.

This quest definitely broke me. There's + 'group quests' for escorts where you only face up against a couple of mobs and can solo with ease, and yet this one is supposedly not a group q? Tried this as fairly well geared, well buffed and experienced 26 Druid (I've max levelled 3 druids at this point, I have a problem), figured it would be easy pickings as a 22 green solo q. How wrong I was. Not only were there a bunch of bugged spawns in the area to start with which I assume hadn't despawned from the last time someone tried the quest (4 mobs stacked inside each other), but also the rest of the spawns inside that part of the cave. I cleared the entire area (died once just trying to clear a stack of 5) and started the quest.

You're expected to solo waves of 4, WITHOUT the npc helping you. Gottta brave it alone. He has almost no health so you have to take all aggro- he can just about survive vs one mob if you're quick enough, but even that is risky. Vs 2 and he dies real quick, so you have to face tank at least 3 at once. Kill 4 mobs and you've only got a short window before another 4 come. If you already used most your cooldowns or a potion, at this stage you're pretty much fooked. I was SO CLOSE to killing the last wave of 4... and then all the extra mobs in the area respawned and joined in. Seems like even if you clear that entire area and start the quest immediately, you'll still have to compete with respawns, of which there's about 4 or 5 in that nook. There's the added bonus that if you die, by the time you run back to your corpse, most stuff has respawned and there's no safe spot for you to rez, so you'll be fighting the second you pop back alive with 1/2 health. Oh AND they run away at low health, which usually pulls more if you're not quick... After my 3rd death on this quest I ended up just taking rez sickness and calling it a day. It's a no from me, dawg.

Was able to solo it as a 26 Enh Shaman with full blues. You have to time the clearing of the hole before you start the quest. I cleared the hole then immediately started the quest. Used stoneclaw on cooldown, and focused one at a time burning through mana to finish each wave early enough to drink in between the waves. Set focus target to the Goblin, so you can pop him with a heal if need on the last wave. Bring mana pots.

The person who designed the mob layout in this cave was legit smoking crack lol but then again its Blizzard. They are way more incompetent now than they were in 2004 so
a hotfix is highly unlikely, They can stick this quest where the monkeys stick their nuts till then.

The best part about this quest is that if you die, the gauntlet mobs don't despawn. They stand perfectly stacked and make your next attempt much harder. I'm sure in another 15 years of experience, the WoW devs will figure out how to solve this issue.

I tried to give the full Kalimdor leveling experience a legit try. I really did. But after the broken escort quests, having to ping around between multiple zones in the 20s, this quest made me give up. I'm not dealing with these horribly slapped together quests. It is obvious Blizzard made EK first then threw Kalimdor together, or assigned the intern to design the quests. I give up. I am a 24 druid with full heirloom and the 5 mobs on wave 2 destroyed me. I'm going to EK. Leveling is far more predictable there and is a steady ride until mid 40s when it guides you to Tanaris.

for HC do not recommend, I tried to do this mission as a 23 rogue with a 22 mage. It was a pain in the ass and we both ended up dying, I think it's possible if your coordinated or are overleveled. But the recommended lvl, for solo is basically impossible. Should be a group quest.

I'd skip this quest in Hardcore. Level 26 warlock. I could tell midway through just clearing the cave that it was going to be rough. The mobs are too close together to kill one at a time. Hearthed before getting to the actual quest mob. One of the caster mobs in this cave has a 30 min duration -6 int debuff and casts frostbolt so you are slowed...

If you are not overleveled and try to solo this quest you will most certainly die

Cave is packed with angry cobolds and quest itself is like 5 minutes long so you WILL have to deal with respawns on top of quest waves of 3-4 enemies
As a level 27 warlock I had really hard time and almost died when tried to fight my way back outside after completing this quest

Careful. Accepting the quest prompts your party members to accept the quest like an escort. HOWEVER, it does NOT lock out others from also accepting the quest while the event is active.

We were in the middle of the event and a random came up and joined our group. He started his quest and it reset the event. When the event finished, only the random got credit and none of the original party members got credit.

Obviously this quest cna be griefed by someone abandoning and picking it up again. So beware.

Managed to solo as a 25 tank shaman in SoD. a few pieces of BFD gear but def not perfect BiS. got a little dicey when there was respawns at the same time as final wave but managed it with a bit of finesse

Not worth the headache as a solo even more so if youre on hardcore, tried twice as a 26 warrior and failed both times. The mob density in the cave is too high and the kobolds respawn fairly quickly. Also, if you die you will need to take res sickness, as the kobolds will make your corpse their own property.

Description

You know, I was once the second most important person here at this site. That all changed when Gerenzo took over. Fired my boss, Ziz Fizziks, and sent me down to work in the mines. Ziz told me to stay here and gather information, though. His new boss will pay us well if we can find out what Gerenzo's plans are.

Anyways, what I do know is that Gerenzo has ordered large amounts of this gold-green ore to be mined. I can get you a sample to bring to Ziz, but you'll have to watch for patrols while I get it.
