To complete the quest i found that if you enter the Zethgor barracks and kill the mini boss 2 eye's should spawn, the big one and a little one in the hall behind him. You want to select the small eye and use the crystal on it. For some reason sometimes it does not work but keep trying. You can also find some of the eyes outside. Once you have the buff and are glowing green just run back to spinebreaker post and stand in front of the little pot with the eye above it.

There is an 'Eye of Grillok' wandering the Zethgor area. Coords: 67.74.

How to do it? Once you have located the Eye, target it, and use the quest device to capture it. Several people are complaining about an Eye in the barracks that can not be absorbeb. So, I would suggest to use it only on the wandering Eye.

Now, go to Spinebreaker Post (Horde) (you can use your mount if you want) and stand beside the NPC and his cauldron (Zezzak). You have 5 minutes. Once you are at the cauldron, target yourself and use the device (Zezzak's Shard) again.

Quest finished ^^

NOTE: This quest is a pain if you are in a crowded server. I would suggest to do it when there are few people around (I did at 4 am)

Additionally, Everyone in your group gets credit if they are within range of the turn in, so one person only has to get the eye and return to the base and then everyone in your group that's there gets credit. I picked up the quest literally 10 seconds before my group member returned with the eye and got credit.

Took three tries to get buff, then used travel form to avoid the mobs - and lost the buff. This is really a pain.

This quest can be a bit of a challenge if you don't time it just right. When you see a patrolling Eye of Grillok in Zeth'Gor, you must use the provided Zezzak Shard on it. This will channel the Eye into you and you'll get a buff saying it is in you, and the Grillok sees what you see. The Eye itself will not attack you, but this is where it gets tricky. When the Eye sees you, it will aggro all mobs within an (estimated) 30 yard radius. On top of the fact that you might get up to at least 5 mobs on you, if you get hit, the channel of the Eye into you is interrupted and the Eye then disappears.

Once you successfully get the Eye channeled into you, you have 5 minutes to run back to Spinebreaker Post. Walk right up to the cauldron that Zezzak is sitting next to. The Eye will leave you and float into the cauldron. This completes the quest, and you just talk to Zezzak.

Must be a bug but i absorbed the eye and returned to the post, the quest giver did NOT have a yellow question mark and was not returnable.

After completing 'Wanted: Worg Master Kruush' this quest became available (as of 11/9/07)
Prior to completing this quest, Zezzak had no quests for me

Attention for all those who have the same problem as DuhAlex and me

Must be a bug but i absorbed the eye and returned to the post, the quest giver did NOT have a yellow question mark and was not returnable.

I opened a ticket and the GM asked me whether i used any addons. I use Titan Panel so i said yes,
he suggested that i delete my Interface and WTF map.
Interface is where you have all your addons, so i disabled my addons and tried the quest again and it worked. Dont bother deleting the whole WTF or Interface map.

ok heres what i did
it @#$%ed me off the first time cause it aggroed every mob there..
cause the eye saw me lol..
so i see this eye and i right click the shard..
mounted up,dodged some enemies and went back to the quest giver.. talked to him and finished it
word of advice.. dont stay there when you have it.. cause it will keep aggroing mobs for you to fight..
thats if you want to..
and you only got 5 min to turn it in
more than enough time right? :)

Once you get The Eye of Grillok buff on you, and you have ran back to Zezzak don't think you haven't finish the quest because you have, just stand next to him - close to the cauldron and wait for the Eye to hit the cauldron. The quest will then complete.

Very Easy, took me about 1 1/2 Minutes if that to complet. Walking towards coords i got form above, Saw green ball, Clicked on the Device I got from Q Giver,Drew in Ball, turned green,Mounted and headed back, Got lucky cause ball was outside of village more towards Camp, You get 4 minutes to turn it so dont stop to fight. EASY EASY EASY...

I've tried to absorb the eye three times. Each time the channelling completes and the eye disappears, but I never glow green and I when I run back to the cauldron, the eye isn't removed from me. I suppose I'll just keep trying, but it's starting to get annoying. Anyone else have this problem?

After posting this, I logged back in and was successful the first try. I guess the first 3 eyes just didn't like me

I decided to get the eye *before* it entered the fort. Previously I was killing inside the fort and would catch the eye as it came through the gates. Maybe that had something to do with it... dunno

Be sure that the eye doesn`t see`s you , and then click on the shard. after that run to camp and quest done :)

I was unable to absorb an eye while in Shadow Form but as soon as I dropped it I was able to complete the quest.

Turn off retribution aura or you will 1shot the eye while channeling. I imagine this goes for thorns as well. It took me a while to figure out why I couldn't do this, since it despawns when killed.

If it's a busy day and you can't find an eye, go into the barracks near the back, almost no one goes in there, and one patrols around.

I am also having a similar problem. I go up to the eye, I cast the stone (only seems to work when I cast it on myself) and it just 'fails' and nothing happens and then it would disappear.

Works ok for me, but with different steps.

65.74, or anywhere since eye wanders around from outside to inside. As said before, the Eye does NOT spawn in the Barracks, that's a different eye.

1. Click on Eye out of aggro range, and then click the Shard of Zezzak
2. You will turn green
3. back to the couldron next to Quest Giver and click the Shard of Zezzak
4. turn in to quest giver
5. you have only 10 min

Witch? weird, he's a man, not a women...
Don't mix up the Eye of Grullok with the Eye of the Citadel that spawns in the barracks when you kill some named mob. That Eye is not what you need, you need the small eyes patrolling around the city. Be careful for if allowed to, they attract the Necrolytes and their skeletons to you.

If you're a hunter, make sure your pet is engaged with an enemy, or dismiss it entirely. Mine kept killing the Eye before I could use the shard to absorb it.

Ok, I just completed this quest; I ll try to clarify. I walked into zeth' gor and was killing the mobs, when the eye spawns to make it's rounds I tageted the eye and got withing casting range and rightclicked on the shard. Do this after clearing the area a bit because the eye will draw mobs to you. Mount as quickly as you can and make ur way back to spinebreaker post, walk up to the couldron and the spirit of the eye will automatically leave your body, no need to do anything else, just approach the couldron once the eye leaves you the yellow ? will appear over Zezzak's head. Hope this helps.

I keep getting the problem of me zapping the eye with a green light...but nothing happens. This seems to pull it to me, which then acts as an alarm that makes everything else nearby pull to me.

I think it needs to be pointed out once again that you do not capture the eye every time and you will turn green and get a 5 minute buff when you successfully capture it. Now, for Rogues like me, this quest is easy as hell. If you try to capture and don't, and the whole village runs after you, "Vanish" and then try again. Simple!

The location 67.74 mentioned above is right. There are more eyes outside at the cauldron as well. The spawn time is very long compaired to the respawn rate of the other mobs.
When trying to capture the eye, make sure the you are outside of aggro range, i.e. that the Eye does not see you, or else the process will fail. When it was succesful, a green light-link will persist between you and the eye for a short while, then a copy of the eye will move towards you and you will then get a green shadow and a debuff that lasts for 5 min. Go back to the quest giver at Spinebreaker Post and you are done. Good luck.

So, I had just gotten this quest, and I stood next the quest giver and went AFK for about 5 minutes. When I came back, I saw that the question mark over his head had turned yellow. So, I tried turning it in. It worked, I got the XP and everything. Now, there was another guy in my party who MIGHT have done the quest and turned it in in front of me, but the point is I didn't lift a finger. This happen to anyone else? I was wondering if other people turning it in when you're standing there gives you credit (because a quick little sequence plays out with the eye yelling at you).

You have to try it a few times. It doesn't always get captured. Just be ready to run if you don't capture it the first time. It will be obvious when you do cath it, you will be covered in a green glow. Mount up and ride back as soon as you get away from or kill the orcs that attack you because of the eye.

You need to goto Zeth'gor use the Zezzak's Shard on a then a Eye Of Grillok will apear. Use the Zezzak's Shard on the Eye and then return to the Quest giver, there is a cauldren next to him, simply target your self and use Zezzak's Shard.

Ok here goes:

1. Head over to Zeth' Gor, find Shard of Zezzak in your inventory
2. The Eye of Grillok spawns at about 67,74 on the path
3. The Eye of Grillok does NOT spawn in the Barracks, that's a different eye
4. Click on the Eye of Grillok and then click the Shard of Zezzak
5. You will turn green
6. Head back to the Quest Giver and turn it in, you have only 5 minutes

This really is how it works!

This eye spawns next to the forge. Some unrelated "eye" spawns near the barracks. Ignore it.

To complete this quest you need to use Zezzak's Shard to capture an Eye of Grillok.

Make your way to Zeth'Gor, there are several Eye of Grilloks patrols within the camp. Target it and use Zezzak's Shard from afar so it will not alarm mobs nearby.
After capturing an eye you will have 5 minutes to bring it back to the quest giver. Come close to the cauldron next to the quest giver so the quest will be completed.

I just did this in a party of 3 people, only one person has to get an eye and bring it back to the quest giver's cauldron in town for everyone to get credit, so long as everyone stays close to you. FYI you get a buff with a 5 minute timer once you capture an eye with the crystal to get this done.

I've tried 6 times to absorb the eye. It does not work at all now as of 10/16/21. Good luck to you guys out there actually trying to quest. It does, however, alert a ton of mobs that come and kill you after you're done absorbing it, which is awesome. **Edit** the absorb doesn't actually yield the Eye in the crystal on any of the 6 times I've attempted it.

If you're having trouble doing this on retail, I recomend abandoning and then retaking the quest. When I did this absorbing the eye worked first time afterwards. Maybe might work in classic too, idk.

Hunters and Warlocks : put your pet / demon onto passive or it will bestroy the eye before it can be absorbed.
