As of beta build 3.0.2.8885, this place is now open as a level 73-75 5-man instance. Therefore, this instance is, in terms of difficulty and level at this point, will be "The Underbog" of WotLK. This dungeon is the home of the remainders of the once magnificent Nerubian Empire, not yet touched by the Scourge.

Did our first attempt at this today, a group of lvl 70's with 1 71 dps, all geared with tbc epic ranging from endgame tank to starting epics dps,
for starters we where surpised that at level 70 you can get in;)
the instance itself is a bit of a maze but surely doable, first part undead(bring a shackle) 2nd part humanoids, we failed to get past the 3rd boss though, just lacking enough dps(or actual hits for that matter^^)
all in all another beautifull instance
for those interested
1st boss, clear the 2 platform to free him
he summons a fireball that channels dmg to any raid memeber close enough, it floats away from the boss till it disappears, walking away from it will save the healer some mana but it's not hurting too bad
also he disappears every now and then and emerges behind a random(?) player and start sucking blood, this can be interupted by damaging him(no fixed amount of damage for breaking it, can happen first hit can take a lot of hits)
2nd boss,
fairly strait forward fight, only thing he does is bubble and summon an add every so often, the bubble will last till the add is death
during the fight some small spiders will run in as well, just have someone cast an aoe every now and then(they have 350 health) to get rid of them as they do hit for around 250 on cloth and if you have 20 running around it will be a strain on the healer or might even lead to the untimely demise of a player or 2
3rd boss, kill the worshippers to start the fight
when the fight starts a good number of adepts come running and gather around him in a dubble circle, these are imune to all attacks and do not attack themselves, every 25% he goes up in the air and 1 adept starts walking to the center to sacrifice himself, kill the adept before he reaches the circle(this is where we lacked dps at our low level), if the adept reaches the circle he will channel health to the boss
during the normal fight phase he will also use 2 abilities.
he will call forth a ligthtning on a player that hits for about 1500 and creates a thunderclap area that will deal damage to everyone in it each second, about 5 yards in diameter so easy to walk out
also he will do a sort of whirlwind around himself that deals up to 10K damage on leather and cloth, tank can be healed through it but melee dps should watch out for this, not sure yet if it has a cast time will update that next time i visit it
4th boss,
no idea yet but will fill in the blank as soon as i've seen it^^

Blizzard really did a great job with this instance, fun boss encounters, really nice.
For the previous poster:
4th boss has mechanics where you have to kill "clones" of your 4 other group members, I believe it's percentage based (33% or 25%, slips my mind). Depending on how fast you kill your set (you will only see yours until you kill them), you can help other people kill theirs.

I would suggest doing Prince 2nd and the Elder first seeing that the path to the 3rd boss is right next to the Prince. It is a really awesome looking instance. Very much detail to it, but also slightly confusing.

tough instance to start out with not knowing anything about it but that's half the fun
3rd boss took us a while but we figured out that u needed to down those spawns fast otherwise u get screwed and to stay out of the lightning bolts aoe

To all the mages, Frostbringer have an buff that's called Icy wind or something.
If you spell spellsteal this your casting of frost spells get decreased.
But your Damage done by your
Frost spells increases by 75%!
I had allot of fun with this buff :-)

Attention Warrior tanks: The Ahn'kahar Spell Flinger have a reflectable spell with a 6 second cast that does 20,000 damage! It's a 50% spell modifier and really holds the aggro.

This is a very Lovecraft-inspired instance. Hidden cult, sunken city, acolytes praising Yogg-Saron (similiar to Yog-Sothoth, a Great Old One in Lovecraft's fiction for non-Lovecraft readers out there), and Volazj is somewhat reminiscent of Cthulhu, being covered in tentacles and driving you insane. Good job on this one Blizzard, I /salute you.

I ran this yesterday, Nov 22, and Jedoga Shadowseeker bugged. When she elevated the first time, the mobs behind the adept's came in and wiped our group. Going back to her, the encounter did not reset. I reported it and this was the reply:
Issue Reported: The boss encounter in Old Kingdom seems bugged - boss: Jedoga Shadowseeker
When we started this boss fight, everything was normal. When she got to the point where she was going to levitate, the adds from behind those that were bubbled came in and killed us.
Coming back in, they had not reset.
We are aware of the situation you reported, and we are currently working on a solution. Please check the World of Warcraft website (

Complete guide to heroic:
-After going down the ramp and picking up the corpse you head straight in and to the left(I prefer left). Some mobs and then boss to the right
Through this way you will meet a "Ahn'Kahar Spell Finger" Interupt it as often as possible. Aspecially the Shadow Blast.

First Boss:
No cleaves so standing inside tank is prefered. Here is the protection paladins time to shine. Aoe down those tiny adds, annoying as a healer to be attacked by those. A raidwarning will come about an egg hatching. All tiny adds and boss because immune untill the elite add is down. Here is a picture of where to deal with him. Tank should stand atop of me, but he was moving :-(

Loot and go down stairs. Giants ahead fear, kill all mobs around and the platform. Remember a magic effect here is watching you. Sometimes it counterspells you and the healer might have big problems. try to dispell

Second boss:
Pull him down to the big area you came from, good space is beneficial. When he spawns his "Fire Spheres" move away, don't stand close to them and melee is the first ones to run. Now you can benefit from the space, because the tank can kite the boss. On 80-60-40 and 20% he will vanish, and sit down next to a player and stun the player. This player cannot be healed nor damage, only bubble and iceblock. On normal you need to nuke 20k damage. On heroic you need to nuke 40k damage before the player dies of 2500 damage every other second.
I usualy put my totems here(where the picture shows), to get good space and be sure we ain't getting out of line of sight(the circle where the boss is standing can LOS dwarves and gnomes)

Keep on going and kill your way through, upto the "altar" by going right side.The Worshippers do a really nasty Flamestrike you don't want to get hit by, and the Apostle is like a shaman with heals.

Optional boss
This boss called "Amanitar" is hiding around this place. When you enter this entire "altar" place check to your left, there you will see alot of mushroom, and this is the boss' hiding place. These trash mobs will simple do tank dmg, and some poisionous cloud around them, heal through it and go down to the boss.
Potent Fungus is the buff from the Healthy Mushrooms.
Poison Cloud is the debuff from the Poisonous Mushrooms. It is a poison and can be dispelled by all poison abolishing spells.
The mushrooms spawn as soon as you engage Amanitar and respawn roughly every 30 seconds.
All these mushrooms will spawn when the fight starts, clear out the bad ones and try to keep the good ones in order to boost your damage. The boss will do a debuff called "Mini" to everyone, decreasing damage done by 75% and defense rating by 500. This needs to be healed hard aspecially on warriors and paladins. Keep on going and kill him down.
This is a boss only for heroic mode.

Third boss:
Don't go to far away from the boss, stand inside the "outter circle" made by the adds the comes, or else you will pull elites behind you. Watch out for lightning on the ground(almost like thunderstorm from elemental shaman). When the boss fly up she will bring an add(one of those passive standing around you) to her by calling him out. Nuke this add very fast or else the boss will recive 200% more damage, which can two shot tanks. It is able to heal through this with nice spell power and mana regen.
Go back down the stairs you came from, and go the right, up the ramp of web. These following mobs will send out missiles to anyone standing more then 5 yards away. This missile take around 10k damage with a small AOE. Without a hunter you can stand in melee range and let the healer heal up the shadow nova damage. These also fear.
-Last boss:
This is a hard fight for the healer. Heal up the mind flay and damage on tank, a curse will bounce around. Have a resto shaman, druid or mage to decurse this fast. Then the "Insanity" comes. You will now have to kill your teamates with 12k hp. They only do basic spells, such as mages do fireball, warlock shadowbolt etc. but these spells vary with the players talent. The healer will heal hard, this should be nuked first and HARD. When you kill your 5 people, you can help your teamates, and if you are luck, killing yourself, and the rest. As a healer this is hard part. If your mana regen is low, just survive and don't mind the damage. If you got water shield up all the time or so, you can regen mana fast, and nuke. Don't always trust your teamates. If they die, you will not kill you later though. Meaning that when three people get insanity(three people alive) you only need to kill those three people.
This can be completed on around 30-50minutes with a good heroic group.
Note that the corpse quest(awards 22gold) can only be completed on Heroic.

Found out that last boss is easier if you only have 1-2 dps left standing!
I tanked this last night with a druid healer (green/blues) and a warlock, hunter, rogue.
On the first Insanity the rogue and Hunter died. After that it was easier than ever.
The healer just healed himself through the insanity with a few HOTs and i just healed myself using Death Strike. The warlock managed to kill his clone party (took a while) and he helped the healer kill a few of his afterwards. We just tried to (and managed to) stay alive until the Insanity effect wore off and it was back to tank and spank. Extremely easy to heal if you're a druid healer as the Mind Flay does close to no damage if you've got the right resistance and AM-zone and AM-shell also helped.
So here's a tip: Don't worry if 1 or two of your DPS die. It will be easier for the healer as there'll be 2 less hitting him/her with the Insanity effect, and it's easier for the tank and last dps as well. He goes down fairly quickly even with just one dps.

I'm a holy priest and I saw someone mention using MC on the clones and then dismissing and they will die. I tried this last night and I'm able to MC one of the clones ok, but it wouldn't let me dismiss it. I tried 3 times clicking on dismiss but nothing happened. The next time i just used MC to help kill the other clones. Also used fear and that hymn spell to CC them until other party members helped me kill the rest.
Also for some reason during the second insanity, everything reset so we had to start the fight over.

This instance, though considered to be the Underbog of Wrath of the Lich King, is not nearly as easy as the original. The bosses are actually quite difficult for a lot of groups (from my experience) and this dungeon was a challenge for me and my guildies. Despite its difficulty, it's still a beautiful dungeon. Blizzard has really outdone themselves with this expansion.
Here's a run-down on the Bosses:
1st Boss
This guy is pretty annoying. He summons little spider adds that are fairly easy to deal with unless they get on your healer. There are tons of em, and it interrupts healing a LOT. After a short while, you will get a raid warning about an elite hatchling. The boss and all of the adds become immune to damage and the elite add starts attacking. Down him as quickly as possible. Rinse and repeat.
2nd Boss
Easy boss. He casts

that damages your party. Simply move away from them. Every 20%, he will

3rd Boss
In my opinion, this is the 2nd hardest boss in this whole place. First, clear all of the small adds around her before you pull the boss. Then, pull the boss. She doesn't hit too hard, I would guess somewhere around 600-800 on the tank. She also has a knock back,

YOU MUST KILL THE ADD BEFORE IT REACHES THE BOSS
. If you don't the boss receives an Enrage buff, hitting 200% more damage. This can
EASILY
2-4 shot your tank, depending on how much their health is. Rinse and repeat until the boss dies.
4th Boss
Personally, this last boss is one of the best boss encounters in all of Northrend. The boss casts Mind Flay on the tank, which is no big deal. Then, the boss will cast

on a party member. And, finally, the boss uses

, which makes everyone in the party phase out. They are forced to kill one of every party member, including themselves. These adds have around 4k health. Once everyone has killed their clones, they can resume the boss fight. This happens about 2 times per fight, from what I can tell.

Heres my order for boss hardness (on heroic) i ran this yesterday and we were fine on first two bosses wiped once on heroic boss twice on twighlight cultist boss and 2 on volazj. The order is 1 is not very hard 2 is harder and so on until 5
Number 1 on easiness is prince taldaram tactics are easy no one in group even got to lower than 5k health.
Number 2 is Elder nakox one person died but other than that we downed him.
Number 3 is Aminatar please remember those mushrooms and though being mini is fun make sure you get it off if you can.
Number 4 is Jedoga Shadowseeker i really hate her if you-re a clothy dps stay away from her as she hit me for a 19k hit on her whirlwind and your ranged dps stay that way.when under the influence of having killed a cultist ive seen her hit for 60k (that part was really weird) so follow tactics and if you-re ranged dps stay at far range.
Number 5 is Herald Volazj i highly recommend 3 manning this as the 12k copies can be bloody difficult to down we wiped twice before i thought of a clever warlock trick and my group 3 manned him to his death.
This i think is an order most people will agree on but feel free to post your own order.

For quick heroic badge daily proof of demise you only have to kill 1 boss (not counting herald) heres how:
In the first room take the left instead of the right this will take you to a ramp there are 2 groups of four mobs down them. Next go down the steps and you have skipped elder nakox then do prince encounter. Go to Jedogas room quickly clear some mobs to heralds room you have now done the super quick 30 minute glit4evr run please post if this works out for you. If you want you can go back and kill the other bosses but with this method you skip out annoying Jedoga.

Whoever designed the trash mob positions, the mobs' capabilities, and the tricky boss fights needs to be fired. casters that don't obey LOS, pats that can't be pulled without pulling at least one other group, and a boss fight that takes 3 dps in all epics all out dps to kill them, and then just barely, or the boss get enraged and kills the entire group. In any particular case, they can be worked around. combined, and it's nothing but a wipe fest.
I pull a group, one caster stays and casts, pulling the pat and the next group, so we get to fight 11, not once, not twice, but 8 different places. it's totally pathetic. We didn't wipe on a single boss fight, but we wiped 14 times on trash mobs. How pathetic is that?

If you're pugging this instance with decent dps and you fight Herald, when he turns you all insane, kill the healer first (especially if he/she's epic'd out, times and time again where my party nearly wiped because they could not kill the healer, kept the clones alive. btw it's 12k hp on heroic.

I find it difficult to imagine taking 5 hours to clear this in Naxx gear. My partially geared, (1-2 Naxx each) guild group took under 90 minutes.

Did this instance yesterday as a holy priest level 73 with 1K SP and a group of 74-75. It is an amazing , beautifull and fun instance, but i found it not easy :) (and thats the most fun imho)
Lucky we got a good warrior tank and a very good mage. No wipes, but i did need to rez some players hehe. I wasnt awake and on my relax mode, but that was not the best option here haha. at the 2nd or 3rd boss, cant remember it, our mage got a crushing blow from full health (10K) till death: oops ;( damn...
We cleared it in 1 hour something. the best wotlk instance so far :)
But with that shadow fight i didnt know what was happening... I dont even know where my attack button is haha. was trying to heal the others but that wont work....after reading the above i know lol. i shielded and hot and after some time my group mates came to the rescue. This place didnt gave me only experience but i did really learn something here as a 'green' healer ;)

I like to call this instance in heroic mode the "Instance that everyone wipes at least once while attempting it".
Today I had a group of me tanking with pre nax gear(prot paladin) a healer friend in 25 nax gear (Holy Priest) and 3 pugged dps (1600-2.4k dps range)
We didn't wipe at all until after the first boss, which I found odd. While walking down the path after the first boss, a dps pulled the pack of non elite undead that run around the stairs, but lived through it, then when we reached the pulls before the prince (the ones you have to do in order to open where he is contained) that have two skeletons and two fire ghosts, here I died for the first time but luckly the group didnt die since the mobs had taken a lot of damage and died after I hit the floor.
After the prince boss, we headed down the tunnel and into the area where all the twilight cultist are, and sort of ironic, just before I say "all right, Im going to pull the mobs up here to the stairs, I don't want adds", one of the dps becomes impatient, and pulls a group of two mobs, who then chain pull 2 other groups of mobs.
Eventually after the wipe passed and we recovered, I felt like saying it big and loud: "THIS IS THE INSTANCE WHERE EVERYONE WIPES AT LEAST ONCE EVERY TIME"
Wotlk might be "EZ mode" for some people, but no matter how much gear and how "easy" the game is or isn't, just a little amount of stupidity and selfishness will cause the worst wipes ever, specially this lovely instance and Azjol Nerub (which I hate greatly with my heart and has a hate place inside my heart for the first boss pull, just beside Skadi's gauntle even over at UP, the Brann's event at HoS, and the final HoL boss) which both are merciless to even those with "Immortal" tittle.

Uh..... sounds like you're just new..... or bad. The spell flingers at the start need to be interupted, silenced, or death gripped back to the party. The pulls after the 2nd boss can be line of sight pulled up the stairs. dps needs to use their cooldowns at the right times on bosses, and people need to interupt or CC the healer during insanity. It's basically the only challenging heroic in the game, I like it.

This is a pretty fun but kinda-hard place and I think I'll explain all but Elder Nakox's fight:
Prince Taldaram: He 'Vanishes' mid-fight (His health does not regain and you keep in combat) He will throw up on people after being vanished, as an Orc Hunter with 19.6K Health he was able to kill me by the time he was done throwing up (He throws up on the player with the most DPS) 'Bloodthirst' which does 120% of damage and makes the next 3 attacks he does heals for 1% of his health, he also does 'Conjure Flame Sphere' which does about 700 dmg per .5 seconds I believe and its similar to rock shards on the Archavon the Stone Watcher fight.
Jedoga Shadowseeker: She will be untargetable and there will be about 20 mobs, have your tank pick them up then AoE.. When they die about 20 people with 60K Health spawn, Jedoga comes down and starts attacking, mid-fight she will go up in the air (not resetting) and one of the 20 people will yell "I am the chosen one" or something like that and walk to a circle, try to kill it before it reaches the middle where Jedoga Shadowseeker will come back.. If they don't die Jedoga will come down and do 200% damage than normal for about 20 seconds, this is survivable and by not killing any volunteers you get an achievement. She does a Thundershock which creates a circle of thunder that burns for about 1700 DMG per 2 seconds, dissapears after being placed for 10 seconds, she also does a simple Lightning Bolt which does nature damage, Cyclone Strike which is similar to mortal strike but instead of healing reduction it knocks you back, this does normal weapon damage + 150%.
Herald Volazj: I love this fight personally, he does a spell called Insanity which 'takes you out of the real world' stalling Herald's health and making you attack your group members (they all have 12,000 health when insanity is active) your group members don't lose health or die when you kill them as they are 'NPCs', you kill the Healer first, Tank second, and your 2 DPSes (Depends on what you are im a DPS) he does a Mind Flay which does Shadow Damage and slows you similar to the priest move Mind Flay, Shadow Bolt Volley which is an aoe Shadow Bolt dealing some Shadow Damage, Shiver which does 1500 (around there) damage and jumps to nearby players which being spread out helps.
Amanitar: (Only seen on Heroic Mode) Is a pretty simple fight, after the tank engages the boss a ton of 'sick' mushrooms will spawn, these should not be killed at all and spawn 5-10 healthy mushrooms, he does a shrink which reduces the damage you deal by 75% and defense by 500, this should be cured by killing a healthy mushroom which makes it necessary to tanking him near a healthy mushroom and killing it ASAP. the sickmushrooms drop a poison cloud when killed and does around 2K damagea pop, while killing health mushrooms without the mini debuff it increases your damage by 100% which makes it necessary to kill them. His abilities aren't very 'bad', hes got the mini which is the shrink I mentioned earlier, Venom Bolt Volley which is like Herald
s Shadow Bolt Volley which does nature damage, Bash which does around 4K damage Entangling Roots that does damage every 2 secs for 10 secs, ifyour a paladin or something you can help out the healers by dispelling that but the damage isn't big-time.
I hope this helped and I will see if I can do Elder Nadox.

Doing this as a healer on heroic is a tad more stressful than the other heroics.
Lots of disease and powerful AoEs and silences too.
Bring a warlock to banish the fire elementals in the 2nd half of the instance, they suck.

In the area north of the 2 platforms needed to open up the prince there are about 4 big spiders channeling spells around a huge statue of a prophet. Anyone know who it is, or what they are doing? If anything at all other than cosmetic effect.

everytime i come here on my rogue and kill a few of the bugs i get and extra buff called combined poisons. I get it randomly in here and from what ive seen in my groups i have been the only person to get it. It is like an extra poison buff that does natural damage to enemies everytime i hit them. Anybody know why i randomly get that buff only for my rogue?

Probably the worst Heroic to end up in if you use the random dungeon finder. Every single group I've been in skips Amanitar all the time, sometimes even Jedoga, and this is the only Heroic I need for the achievement Northrend Dungeon Hero. I've atleast gotten HoS, but as I said, either get a guild to run this or don't aim for the achievements.

so what is the purpose of that little off-shoot in the upper right corner of the map? After my group disbanded, i went to go check it out. A few swarmers on the circular landing (easily swiped away) then a standard pack of trash gaurding some sort of door. Couldn't get much closer, even while prowling, so i couldn't investigate this door.

heres my questing you know the shadow blast attack on heroic when first tanked this i did fine but then i just tryed again betetr geared and everything and i got nuked and died in 2 hits from mobs which made no sense def capped and everything can someone tell me whats going on >.<

Probably needless to say, but this instance can be rather easily soloed in normal mode by protection spec paladins.
The only boss that I thought would maybe be a little tricky was Prince Taldaram, as his Embrace of the Vampyr lasts for 20 seconds and only Divine Shield gets rid of that (PvP trinket doesn't have an effect). However, the shadow damage is perfectly sustainable and for a few times I just waited for the stun/debuff to run out.
