Ive gone and killed hundreds of booty bay guards for title and im hated with all of the cartel is there any other way I can get it

If you are completely hated with all Steamweedle factions you need to turn in the following amounts of stacks:

Ratchet (Non-Human): 168 Stacks of Linen and 336 Empty Vials will get you to Neutral.
Ratchet (Human): 152 Stacks of Linen and 304 Empty Vials will get you to Neutral.
Booty Bay: 84 Stacks of Silk and 168 Red Dye will get you to Neutral.
Gadgetzan: 42 Stacks of Mageweave and 84 Strong Flux will get you to Neutral.
Everlook: 22 Stacks of Runecloth and 44 Coal will get you to Neutral.

If you don't like to waste turn-ins, just turn in each quest 34 times (if you do all 4 quests once you get 1250 reputation with every faction, 42000/1250=33.6).

These calculations assume you turn in 168 stacks of Linen, then 84 stacks of Silk, etc. As Mageweave and Runecloth are more expensive on most realms this is the most cost-efficient way.

In 3.1 (which went live today) you no longer have to do this guy's quest or read any of the books to gain artisan or higher level cooking. Instead you can learn it from any cooking trainer.

You have to be level 35 and skill level of 225 before you can get Artisan training.
I think that applies to all professions, not just cooking.

1. You have to be level 35
2. Get the quest from the cooking trainer in Orgimar
3. You need to either farm or buy the following before you go to Tanaris
a. 12 Giant Eggs
b. 10 Zesty Clam Meat
c. 20 Alterac Swiss
4. Go to Tanaris - In the Inn you will find Dirge Quickcleave he will be on the right hand side.
5. Accept his Clamlette Surprise quest and turn it in you will receive 2 things from him.
a. You will learn 300 to cooking skills
b. 40 clamette surprise which is just food you can go up in health with 1392 health when you eat it.

Fist get 225/225 in cooking, The quest is for lvl 45.

I bought the cheese (as ally) in the cheese shop in SW.
Then on to Tanaris were I grindet turtles and birds to get the other things.
U need:
12 Giant Egg (drops from all the birds in tanaris)
10 Zesty clam Meat (clams drops from turtles just open them)
20 Alterac swiss (by from cheese vendor)

If u are higher then 45, like 50 or something u will have to speak with the cooking trainer where u trained first, becouse U wount se a Yellow ? obove them

Ok , just to make it clear for those who cant seem to get the training in gadgetzan , your cooking skill must reach 225 and u must be at least 35th level then u will get a quest from your original cooking trainer "To Gadgetzan you Go" to go see Dirge Quickcleave. If you do not get the quest to go see Dirge from your original cooking trainer then he will not have the quest for you to advance your cooking beyond 225. This one was a bit different then most , usually you can train your skill when your within 25points of max, this is not true with cooking , you MUST be maxed at 225 and then go back to your original cooking trainer... Yeah, so its my own fault. But I lost all my Cartell rep getting Bloodsail rep. Is this the only way to progress my cooking? Is dirge Actually Gadgetzan 'faction' or is he no faction and could I still talk to him if I fought my way in?

to get above 300 in cooking u must be lvl 45 and use master cookbook a vendor item : ) hope that helps

So I'm hated by Gadgetzan, I want to be friends again but they won't let me... guess they'll just have to all die. Seriously though it's &*!@ed up that u only get one rep per pirate u kill and you lose so much for killing one stupid goblin.

YOu do NOT need to go back to your original trainer!... i spend 30 min going to and from buying all the training to see if i could get a quest... never got one.. went back to Gadget and boom.. guy gave me the quest. Don't waste time stressing on who your first trainer was... cuz i couldn't remember after all that time..

just a word to the wise if you are at war with gadgetzan you cant get this quest at all, the level 77s tore my 80 up there were so many rushing me. So if you plan to go for the Bloodsail admiral achievement make sure you do the cooking quests BEFORE going for the achievement.

This is a bit weird.. I turned the quest in and got the Clamlette surprise scroll, but didnt get the skill up.. It still shows up 225/225. What did i do wrong? O.o

please respond ! any one im ALSO stuck there i dident get the Scoll and min at lvl 45 and skill 225 "max" cant get any higer atm. please any one ! the butcher wil not give me the scoll

I don't know if there ever was one either, I never saw any. But, it could have been before I got to the area.? I've been playing since closed beta 9/04.

The way to get there for alliance is to take that boat from Menethil, which goes to Theramore-Duskwallow marsh. then run through the swamp to the Barrens, then south and sneak past the Horde guards at the great lift, (unless you are a Mage, use slowfall hehe.) run throught Thousand needles, south east to gadgetzan.
another way is to run from ashenvale, sneak past the horde guards by taking the left (east) entrance to Barrens, then the same as above. Not an easy run for anyone below lvl 25, but Dustwallow marsh has lots of 36 & 38's Lurking.

You no longer need to quest to get Artisan Cooking. Any cooking trainer will sell it to you.

He is in Gadgetzan, in Tanaris,
Dirge's coords: 52,28 (inside a tent)

You must be level 35
You must have Cooking 225 (no less!)

You can take the boat from Booty Bay to Ratchet and fly down
Or take the boat from Menethil and walk down (or fly if you have the FP)

Well from what ive read Dirge is the Npc that has a quest and the reward is artisan cooking well....He offers me no quest is thier somthing I must do beforehand

I am talking to Dirge but he does not offer the quest for this recipe at all. The only thing I get when I click on him is his inventory of item to sell. Do I need to do something to get this recipe?

boat to theramore from menethil harbour, then jump into water from dock and swim south along the coastline, its alot faster and safer (no death for me or any agro whatsoever), swim close to shore as you will get fatigued if you swim too far out... you will come to a long sandy beach with buildings - its your stop, land on sand - run inland a short way and you will see a large fort on your minimap - grab flightpath and bobs your uncle - cooking guy is in the inn (butcher)

This is how I got there;

Took boat to Theramore and swam along to coast to the shore of Tanarism, then ran west to Gadz.

when you hit 225. got to Iron Forge. the cooking trainer there has a quest to visit Dirge. get that xp....may not be a lot...but better than nothing....you are going there any ways :-)
