Theka the Martyr patrols around a room full of Scarabs. The Scarabs do not aggro unless you attack them.
This is a pretty normal battle. However, once Theka is near ~20% health he uses the ability Theka Transform, with which he becomes immune to both Shadow and Physical damage. Soon after this he makes the nearest Scarabs aggro, usually on the lowest group member (Usually around 5 Scarabs, so be careful if you're cloth). He stays immune for close to 30 seconds so just kill the scarabs then pound him.

If you're a rogue doing the scarab quest, it's worth a try to take this guy out. If you die, you'll take rez right by gadget anyway, so be sure to finish the quest before you try.
I faced Theka with a 45 rogue, mace (combat) spec. If you know how to stun lock and stop slow casts, you should be fine. I cleared the East corner of scarabs. This completed the quest for me after about 12 kills. (use a 3-off, 1or2-on distract pull method to grab one (possible 2nd) with garrrot and pull back to your corner. The entire time you are killing the scarabs, you must watch Theka's counter-clockwise rotation so that he doesen't see you fighting. Once you get the entire corner clear, ready up and start.
I started with a KS reading above that he didn't call for scarabs until later on, I stun lock him near his tablet (a clickable piece of stone with writing near the center rubble) until he unlocked. At that point I pulled him back to the corner where I'd been killing the scarabs before. Gouging for points and energy, blinding for bandage, even took one health potion that I "probably" didn't need, but I managed to down him taking my time.
He didn't call for any scarabs. This may be due to the fact that I may have had him stunned when he was suposed to. He also did not cast the "Immune to Shadow and Physical" I was only ever using melee so, not sure how I stopped that if it exists.
Battle stats (since I have very average gear)
Damage Taken: 3066h
Self Heals: 1952h (at 45% and 14% health - ban/pot)
Damage Done: 9548

I submitted a screen shot as to where to stand to make this easier. The scrabs is what makes this a pain for me at lvl 53 not bad but a cloth wearer I would feel for even at this lvl. I soloed at 53 rogue and the picture will give u an idea where to stand and you can pull the scrabs 1-2 at a time. then kill him as he comes around.

Easily soloed as 52 Moonkin.
Go behind the northern wall and clear the Basilisk, Scarabs, and two Trolls (one is wandering).
Pull Theka behind the wall. I kept him rooted with moonfire and insect swarm dots with an occasional starfire. I don't think he even hit me one time. No scarabs were called. Very easy.

Soloed him as a 55 prot pally trying to do this quest to get a decent shield upgrade, which I somehow missed in my Hinterlands travels:
https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=2936
The shield is this:
https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=10686
but there is also a great cloth and mail reward.
Remember that he's undead so you can use your pally undead- and demon-only fears and damage spells (which work nicely in these situations). Specifically, just before his 25% immunity (or just after if you miss it, like I did), fear him and for most of his immunity he will be feared and won't aggro extra bugs. This makes the rest of his takedown pretty simple.

Easy soloed as a 47 feral druid, pulled the Scarabs in groups of 5 with faerie fire and growl while he was on the opposite side of the room from me, then i guided the scarabs to the other side of the wall northeast of the room so he doesnt see me fight (you might want to kill the elite that roams around there first).
Once the room was cleared from bugs i engaged into combat with him, nothing too difficult since he couldn't use the bugs to help him (otherwise i bet its a very hard solo battle), faerie fire, demoralizing roar and maul with infected wounds to do the job, bash to interrupt the occasional cast. When he's about 30% he gets immune to shadow and physical damage so i used entangling roots and moonfire, waiting for the DoT to finish for the next moonfire. Not much healing aside from the preventive rejuvenation since my talent spec heals me for every critical.
The Theka Transform buff disappears after some time so you can go cat form and finish him off.

His fight is a simple one, same as fighting a standard trash mob, but with a twist. At about 25% HP he becomes immune to physical and shadow damage. However, if you stunlock him from 25-0% he will NOT become immune. Also, as of patch 1.12 the immunity is a buff that wears off after 30 seconds. AoE damage must be avoided as the numerous scarabs surrounding him can overwhelm a party. Note that Theka is an undead target and can be hit with spells such as Exorcism, Shackle Undead, Holy Wrath, and Turn Undead.
Theka the Martyr is involved in the quest
The Prophecy of Mosh'aru
which is obtained from Yeh'kinya located at Steamwheedle Port in the contested territory of Tanaris. The quest is a follow-up from
Screecher Spirits
, which is a quest also given by Yeh'kinya. You need to kill screechers (
1
,
2
) in Feralas and use the given quest-item on their corpses to summon
Screecher Spirits
. When completed, The Prophecy of Mosh'aru is given - when you've completed that quest, you'll get lead to
The Ancient Egg
in which you need to obtain
the egg
, which is located in Hinterlands - if you're a horde,
there are about 6 quest to do in Jintha'Alor, so don't forget to pick them up.
Other than the ancient egg, they mostly start in Revantusk Village and not a single one of them is a chain-quest. (click
this map
to see the eggs location clearly)
When you've completed all the three parts in this chain you'll get lead to the final part;
The God Hakkar
. You'll be given an Egg of Hakkar when completing the previous quest, and this item you must use in a sanctum inside The Temple of Atal'hakkar to summon a boss called Avatar of Hakkar, he will drop you the
Essence of Hakkar
and you may complete the quest back to Yeh'kinya.
There are three nice rare-quality (=blue) rewards to choose from.
Avenguard
Helm,
Lifeforce Dirk
and
Gemburst Circlet
. You may complete even the final part as early as level 40, if you have someone to boost you, the rewards are astonishingly powerful in the hands of a level 40.

Whats with this guy? i was killing with a group and he went immune for well over 5 mins... how do u get him out of it? he eventually snapped out and we killed him.. but dont know how! Help!

Yeah, he's immune to melee. You have to finish him off with magic. You can also stun him before he puts up his shield and finish him off that way. Hope it helps.

Theka's immunity is apparently on a 5-minute timer. We fought him long enough for Vanish timers to reset. 2 hunters (lvl 50), 2 rogues (44, 49) fought him like this: stunlock him until he's down to 25 percent health. He'll (insta) put up his shield, so off-tank him to the pets. Then hunter soaks damage, feigns death, bandages. Repeat on 2nd hunter. Then rogue dodges, parries, soaks damage, vanishes, bandages. Then repeat on 2nd rogue.

Priest's who have holy attack spells such as smite, will be able to penetrate his shield. As well as any paladin's who have holy spells. Easiest way i've found is to keep aggro off of a priest and let them attack with their holy spells. He dies fairly quick by doing this

I soloed him as a lvl 48 Troll Rogue. I fought him twice, the first time, I got him to 30% health or so fairly easy with Cheap Shot, Ripostes, and kicks. than he went immune and I had to vanish.
I lucked out because vanish wore off in a few seconds becuase he had poisoned me. Which made me change my approach second time. That time, i swtiched instant poisons to deadly poisons (DOTs) and kidney shotted him around 30%. Also, I loaded him up with 5 combo points and used rupture on him in case he did get his immune up (which he didnt). Went down and I grabbed the tablet. (Also, I did use my Helm of Fire on him).

Easy solo with a hunter if you have to, as I did. Ditch your pet. Hit monkey. Mount up and ride in. Find a corner, FD and wait for everyone to clear.
Get back up, summon pet, and fight. When he goes immune, the key as a hunter is to keep a scorpid sting on him and keep pet healed. Mix in some eyes of the beast kiting if your pet is fast and you'll use less mana healing. After a million years, finish him off.
Mount and FD works well for getting to hydromancer V too, but turn off autopotion if you use it. I got off a good FD, but then for some reason autopotion decided to stand me up and swig a pot, wasting the pot and getting me killed to boot.

He's immune to shadow damage. So as a warlock it took me a while to figure it out. Then my pet and my immolate finished him easily. =)

there should be a laugh-track for this fight if you solo it as a rogue
here's what you do:
- he's stunnable at first, so beat on him as much as you can, fight him however you've solo'd elites before. For me, this involves something like this: cheap shot, backstab, gouge, backstab, kidney shot at half-2/3 energy, pound pound pound, gouge, backstab, ss, gouge, backstab, kidney shot, etc; rinse, repeat.
if I've been unlucky, at some point, I must either use the kidney shot, extended gouge (5.5 seconds with talents), or blind to bandage myself; if I'm lucky, I don't have to do this until the point where he shields - he is blindable in this state, so save it until then. blind him right when he shields, bandage yourself, and run to the other side of the little ruins that he wanders around, from him. keep those in between you and him, for around 3-4 minutes, and you'll see his shield go off, then go over and beat him up.
if you used your blind, use sprint instead, and get around to the other side of the ruins from him, and keep him on the other side. it's not that hard, just tedious. once he unshields, you can then run over and gouge him or use your kidney shot to bandage yourself (or by now your blind may be back up).
good luck

I noticed that serpent sting also works. When we did him we didn't notice this at first, but later on I noticed that my serpent sting did damage him, so the other hunter used it too. This way the fight was easy

Me (50 rogue) and a 49 shaman beat this guy a couple of times pretty easily. Shaman just saves as much mana as possible for when he goes melee immune, then he "nukes" away... pretty crummy drops tho (some silk cloth and silver both times :p)

I've solo'd him as a level 52 Rogue.
After dying about 4 or 5 times, I found a successful combination:
Poison both daggers with Deadly Poison.
Stealth and Cheap Shot him, then Sinister Strike for the first round of bubbles.
Slice and Dice to raise your DPS (Don't Blade Flurry, as this will draw Scarabs into the fight.)
Use Evasion if you have to (I did).
Use Sinister Strike exclusively, keeping yourself at 5 bubbles, but leaving enough energy to Kick him every time he tries a spell.
When he's down to 30% and about to shield, Kidney Shot him.
Immediately use Adreneline Rush and then Sinister Strike and Eviscerate to take his health down as fast as you can while he's stunned.
If all works well, his health should be under 15% when he comes out of stun. At this point, he doesn't bother to use his shield, and you should be able to easily finish him off. I didn't have any health potions, and didn't need to Vanish or bandage during the battle.

Fought him today. His immunity to physical attacks wore off after a few shocks with a 6 second delay between them, so I'm guessing the shield only lasts for 30 seconds or so.

Tried to solo him today as a 51 rogue (Krol blade, Joonho's mercy both with lifestealing). Used a +50 agi buff from Blasted Lands. Easy enough until 30% when his invulnerability kicked in. I thought maybe deadly poison would work... nope. Then I thought I could kite him around until it wore off.. no, although I only tried once and I think if I'd used the Geometry alittle better I could have.
Anyway - Not very Rogueable.

Make sure you have a mage with you to kill him, as he gets immune at about 30% of life left.

It's possible to solo him with a rogue, or in a party with a rogue but no caster. Just make sure you are maxed on combo points when he gets close to 30% health, then hit him with kidney shot. Even if you can't kill him before the stun wears off, he doesn't seem to get his immunity and is easy to finish off.
Like other posters have pointed out, though, he doesn't have any regular drops so you might as well pass him up.

Very easy, pet didnt have a problem at all, and Serpent Sting hurts him through his enrage.
Intimidate, BW, RF, Aimed Shot, got him to Enrage fast, then just kept Serpent Sting up and Healed the wolf a couple of times.

This was easily solo-able as a level 47 Combat
Rogue
. As others mentioned, you can beat on him easily using
Evasion
and
Adrenaline Rush
with a couple of bleeds and kicks until he get to about 30% HP. Once he's at 30%, he gains an Immunity, but this can be countered by just using
Blind
on him once he gains Immunity. Once he's blinded, use
Bandages
or
Healing Potions
and
Sprin
t away if he gets close. I ran circles around the pillar in the middle of his area and was able to evade him and also
Gouge
him if he got close. I only had to run for about 1 min until I could damage him again. His Immunity phase honestly seemed to be shorter than 1 min, but I played it safe since others said it could last up to 3 mins.
After that, it's quite easy to kill him once his Immunity fades, again, it's super helpful to use
Kick
and
Kidney Shot
when needed. I had double Instant Poison and Vanquishers Sword/ Sword of Omen when this was done.
Hope this helps!
