Paval Reethe was a lieutenant with the Theramore Isle military before deserting and taking refuge in the wilderness of the Dustwallow Marsh. To sustain himself while in hiding, he resorted to stealing supplies from the ogres of Brackenwall Village — a move that prompted Krog to send an ogre named Ogron to track Paval Reethe down in order to recover the supplies.

Paval Reethe was also implicated in the burning of the Shady Rest Inn, which left its owner homeless and insane after he watched his wife and child die in the inferno. Paval's badge was discovered along with a black shield and a set of hoofprints among the charred ruins of the inn. The burning of the inn prompted Thrall to launch an investigation into the incident, as the hoofprints implicated the Horde and thus implied that Thrall's order to leave the humans of Theramore Isle alone was violated. When Paval's involvement in the burning of the inn was discovered, Ogron was also ordered to extract any information regarding it that Paval may have had.

With the help of an unknown adventurer, Ogron tracked Paval Reethe down, demanding that he return the supplies he stole as well as release the information he had regarding the burning of the Shady Rest Inn. Unfortunately, at that time, Lieutenant Reethe was also discovered by Lieutenant Caldwell and his men, who were looking for him determined to punish him for his desertion. In the skirmish that ensued, Private Hallan killed Paval before the latter could reveal the name of the culprit responsible for the destruction of the Shady Rest Inn. Although Caldwell acted suspiciously hasty in ordering Paval Reethe killed (and thus possibly implying that Paval knew something that Caldwell wanted to remain secret forever), he, along with Private Hallan and the rest of his men, were slain in the skirmish before they could reveal any useful information.

In reply to the longer comment below... After you do the little event and survive. The guy in town sends you off to Thunderbluff with the sheild... "The Black Shield"

"Return to Krog", is next in the chain. Note he says that "Grimtotems" are customers of his wares. I've done this one before and I dun remember that part. Must have updated it with the Dustwallow Marsh patch.

He talks a little bit about a recent settlement of Grimtotems in the Marsh, which has another quest for it at Tabetha's Hut from one of her two new apprentices.

He then offers up two more quests. "More then Coinidence" and "The Grimtotem Plot". Both I plan on doing and uploading to here soon. Will update soon...

The Quest chain starts with the black shield at the shaddy inn. The shaddy inn is the demolished building that is on the side of the road that connects the barrens with dustwallow marsh.

This quest is available to both Horde and Alliance. My toon is an Undead so ill post what i know about the Horde chain.

The Name of the Quest is, The Black Shield.

Go to the shaddy inn and look at the fireplace, there is a shield there.
If you mouse your cursor over it you will get a cog and when you open it you get the quest.

Take it back to the guy at the village and you get some xp and another quest to get acid off of the spiders in the area to clean it off. once you complete that part you get Xp and nothing else off him.

Go back to the inn and you'll now be able to find Hoofprints in front of the inn. it just looks like a horseshoe crab on the left side of what should be stairs. Mouse over and get that quest.
Take it back to the guy and complete it and he summons a guy to go investigate.
That guy runs out of the side of the village and dissapears. dont bother looking for him.

Go Back again to the Inn and in the middle there are planks. on one of the planks is what looks like a pebble or small rock.Its a badge. Mouse over that and you get the last part of the quest. Go back to the village and talk to the guy again.
complete the quest. nothing pops over his head , but if you right click on him as if you were to get a quest you will now see another option to talk to him.
He now tells you to find Ogron. Orgon is at 40,36

this quest part is lvl 37 , the other ones where lvl 35

Its an Odd way for quest chain , but thats the way is set up. you have to go investigate it a few times over to be able to complete the quest .

the quest chain is quite the same on alliance side... you're sent a few times here and there, and suddenly the chain ends. i'd like to know how it would have ended if blizzard didn't forget it...
