Bellygrub is found west from the flower shop , and he is quite hard to kill (for the area's level) so get 1-2 people with you. Killed him today with one of my alts and he even dropped a greenie!

Soloed as a 22 lock with my voidwalker to take hits. Put dots on him, stand back, and it's a very easy kill.

This guy is a really cool pet and I never would have tried him if I had not read about him first. Depending on the quest you are on and what you may need this boar does the job. I dropped my long time fav Mangeclaw to pick up my Bellygrub. I was on a quest to kill him but decided to tame him instead, it paid off. I took him into 2 cave quests so far and he has paid off in small areas. Now along with my Ghost Saber and Humar I have some options when I go out at night LOL. At least until 27 rolls around shortly and I grab me my Ghostpaw Alpha. I will have to figure out who I will need to kick out of the stable by then.

Bellygrub was great I didn't know about the quest at the start so as a lvl 24 NE rogue with Meteor Shard in Offhand and Talon of Vultros in Main Hand it was easy. I got Band of Purification lvl 18 rare 2 stam and 6 spirit and that was the first time I've killed him. How long till he spawns again approx? Just need to know for when I want to farm him or tame him as a pet.

This is a real easy mob and the quest is about 20-100 feet away. The quest gives 1950 experience, and I finished it in a minute like this (24 hunter)

I sent my pet, lvl 23 ghost saber, at it, casted mend pet, hunters mark, then aimed shot and immediately after arcane shot, then serpent sting and arcane shot again. By then it was down to about 10% of health which is easily taken by arrows and pet damage.

Bellygrub has approx. a 10 minute respawn rate, for those who need to "camp" for him

I killed bellygrub with level 17 dwarf hunter with level 17 coyote.Then after i leveled up i took the quest and kill him again with hunter lvl 18 and coyote lvl 18

I managed to solo him at with a fairly decked out pally at 19 but had to use everything (potions, Lay on Hands, and Stoneform) to do so and even then it was close.

There's no guards in the immediate area so kiting is hard (my original plan). There was one that pathed close by but he started walking away just as I neared. The majority of my damage came from Judgement of the Crusader plus Seal of Righteousness and Judgements of Righteousness.

Since there isn't any way to get gore ranks five and six that I know of, one might as well grab gore rank four from Bellygrub since it will last you almost 25 levels. (rank 7 from lvl 48-49 Ashmane Boars in Blasted Lands, go figure)
As a horde, ravager upbringing doesn't get any easier for a long time. :-/

This guy was pretty easy as a Hunter (pet tank + mend pet). Plus, I had Kresh from Wailing Caverns, so I had him put up is "Turtle Shield." It was just a pain waiting for him to spawn especially when I saw him dead when I first got there.

I plan on taming this boar. I see so many boars in BG's, and their charge annoys me.

I just did it as a level 22 warlock. I had my voidwalker attack him while I did Drain Life and it went easier than some level 21 mobs I have taken out.

I've actually seen him @ level 23 before. No joke. I tamed him at level 23 as well. Took about a whole day of camping though...

I soloed him as a 20 fury warrior with cruel barb and smite's reaver, i had to use fishliver oil and retaliation and i ended up killing him extremely fast

Solo'd him as an 18 pally, with not great gear. The trick is to use the mana restore judgement so you can heal yourself, alot. Otherwise, this quest is probably doable at lv 20 or 21 for those who didn't roll a pally or druid etc. The NPC is found directly west of the questgiver.

easily solo'd as a lv 20 rogue, keep rupture and Slice and Dice up and keep spamming sinister strike. Should also have a instant poison on both of your weapons for some extra damage here and there

Soloed him at lvl20 with a Night Elf Hunter and a cat with Dash. If you plan to do this alone with a pet, be sure to spam Mend Pet. If you do that and you manage to keep your distance, it's a piece of cake.

Soloed as a lv 18 rogue with heirloom shoulders chest and dagger. If the dagger didn't have crusader i would of died.
If your going to attempt a solo start off with a expose armor with 5 combo points. Then use a haste potion (if you don't have one slice and dice). Keep up gouge and backstabbing when possible. If you are going to die and gouge is availabe use it and get back a few stebs and first aid up. I barely survived with 8 health.

Soloed as 19lvl MM hunter with bear pet. Unfortunately the bear didn't hold the aggro and I had to run around spamming concussive as much as I could, and used one lesser healing pot.
Killed him with 13 hp.

Im a level 20 hunter and Im going to get Ol' Sooty (lvl 20 Elite Bear in Loch Modan) for my main tanking pet and then when I level up then Ill get Bellygrub. Good thing about Ol' Sooty and Bellygrub is that they're both close to a graveyard so it doesnt matter too much if you die. I reccomend that you get a healer while you tame Bellygrub or Ol' Sooty because they hit pretty hard if youre just able to tame them.

Best 29twink + 39twink pet. I'm gona use him for lvl 39Bg's since ther arent any other boars from Rfk til lvl 48. Ez to tame, he's right next to the lake.

Btw, (i'm 38 and i have twink stuff so it adds to his atk power) right after i tamed him, i used him to atk an low alliance. As i watched, this boar crit for 120! :O My Stv pet only crit for 110 at lvl 37. (i'm marks)

O yea, the best way to tame isn't just using a freezing trap. Get close to the beast, and set a freezing trap in front of u, and cast scare beast (30sec fear). IF the beast is agreesive, then set a freezing trap to the side and cast "Scare Beast." Then walk to the trap and start taming.

Just tamed her tonight with freeze trap only at lvl 25. She's up the hill to the west of the Lakeshire Inn, past the herbalist's garden.

Tamed that today. Crits with charge rank 3 116 :P
Unbuffed armor ~1600 and hp ~915 (Im lvl 24)

Its very easy to tame, my ice trap resisted and still got it ~half hp left (Hp ~850)

I have him as a pet, I was looking all over for some special pet, since I was getting pretty tired of my lvl 31 cat, which had no special abillities and never seemed to get some, so as a lvl 31 hunter i went to tame bellygrub, and he's an awsome pet, little to low lvl actually, I need to be a little careful, but he catches up with me very fast. And I can't wait to train him and se how tough he's gona end up being then.

Tamed him tonight with my lvl 25 hunter. He is an AWESOME pet...with rank 3 charge and rank 4 gore he's hard to beat. Just lay down a freeze trap and draw him in, no big deal.

I honestly have to say That i am extremely pleased with my BellyGrub.... I tamed in one try witht he help of a frost trap and Only 10 minuites later i was Ally Hunting.. Taking out a lvl 26 paladin and a 25 mage.. This is only the second boar i've ever had.. I was always Cats And Bears FTW .. However BellyGrub ahs changed my mind... BOARS FTW! an amazing PVp'in Pet, and a suitable tank. Very impressed and i recommend Him to any Hunter Ally or Horde

Tauren Hunter lvl 26. Wanted to catch him for the gore and charge spells.

Easy catch. Ganked a few Alliance enroute -always funny - caught him and used until he gave me the skills.

Then I dumped him. He is a broing looking pig!

Boar's make great tanks because of their Charge ability. At level 26 it was generating 1.2k threat, just from the charge, at that point, it's impossible to rip threat off him.

as much as I hear people say Blizzard favors one side more than other, it is unfair that he is the ONLY boar with both charge and gore, and the only one with gore 4, you have to go to RFK just to get charge 3 otherwise and they are elites. By far the only boar for lvl 20's and bg's.

I did what several other above did and it wasn't quite as tough as I thought as at lvl 25. Take the zepplin to Grom'gol and hug the shore north, you get crocs but if you drift too far in, you get rapters too, alot. I did die once, but got away from 2 via wing clip and conc shot, running like hell. Farther north you find a troll village same thing died once. Afterwords it gets fairly simple there is a neutral troll village then swim to the Westfall lighthouse, everything else is lvl 19 or lower.

Go NE past Moonbrook and hug the river bank north on the Westfall side and you miss Duskwood totally. Go east through Elynn Forest hugging the south river, lvl 9's. Take the river north and you will be at 3 corners with plenty of distance from guard Parker. Quick left up to the 14-15 Mongrols behind them and you are to the west side of the lake where Bellygrub is, on your side of the garden, if he isn't there wait a sec, he will be. I was kinda surprised he took half my health to tame but I didn't use tools like freeze trap.

I was on a pve server at the time but I didn't run into anyone, I'm sure it could be alot tougher on PvP but the human areas are pretty low lvl anyway. I got him at 25 so I could lvl him along and make sure he was 29 for bg's :D

this sob killed me at level 23 and lowered all my armor to 0 duriblity. remind me to come back at level 70 and kill this s.o.b. and eat what falls out and have a skinner skin it and give me the leather so i can keep it in my bank as a tophy!

I picked him up as a 24 hunter on PVP was not too hard, i flew into STV hiked up through elwyn and hiked over to redridge.I was spotted by a few people but nobody attacked

Bellygrub in himself isnt hard, he has a really long respawn rate tho, i waited for 10 mins for him to spaw and a !@#$ing asswipe of a hunter steals him from me, blizz FIX THE RESPAWN TIME!

I am also a horde player, in reading the corpse run strategy I'd like to add a much less costly way into the zone.

If you can get to stonard in the swap of sorrows your half way there.

1. head north west to misty valley, there is a way into the mountains behind the cave, make your way up the hill into the barrier mountains, there is a path through them don't worry about being stuck just keep running.

2. use your tracking to watch the ally movement and avoid squealers. I like to use aspect of the beast.

3. periodicity change tracking to locate Bellygrub, I found mine near the lake. Set a freezing trap, tame and head either south back to STV or north to flame crest. Hearthing is the easiest way to escape though.

All in all this was a very smooth operation, and kinda fun in a james bond sortta way :)

Ideal pet for any hunter. Sturdy and reliable, does decent damage, tanks like a dream. Charge is incredible - very dramatic in action.

Be aware that Gore is a focus dump. Pig might not have enough for growl taunting if you keep Gore on auto.

Tamed today at level 24 with my 24 Orc hunter. Zeppelin to Grom'gol, run north to Duskwood, then north-east to Redridge. Spawned around 16,48. Even on a PVE server horde should be careful to avoid the ally guards/camps on the roads in Duskwood and Redridge if you don't want to be marked.

AotM, freezing trap, pulled with concussive, and my health stayed above 50%, so you shouldn't have much trouble. Fed until green-happy, let him kill about 10 grey mobs (level 16 boars) in the area and learned Gore 4 and Charge 3... adandoned the poor fella and hearthed out. Just taught my Agam'ar these two, and Charge 3 is fantastic. As mentioned, he generates ~1.1k threat, making it impossible for my crappily-geared hunter to pull mobs off of him :)

Managed to solo him as a lvl 18 hunter with a lvl 18 wolf. Fought him around seven times and only got him to 53% until I finally called for help. Decided to try once more before reinforcements arrived, and guess what! My wolf held aggro long enough for me to rape him.

I had the same bear on my hunter since lvl 10. I decided that i needed some diversity, so i got Bellygrub. Havent used him much, but when i have, WOW! seriously, good pet. But i got him at lvl 24 and he had -23 training points! WTF?

A warrior 24 friend of mine and I (I'm a Rogue 23) were helping a couple of 20s (both mages) kill Bellygrub. I guess it was a karmic reward that the Big Pig dropped a Killmaim. Lucky Warrior, I gave it to him. May want to add this to the figures.

This boar is great for training the titled pet skills. If you are Horde come in through Stranglethorn. Other routes are ugly for lvl 24'ish Hunters.

I have done my best to provide Map Mouseovers for each and every beast, wherever possible!
Unfortunately some do not yet have maps, but these will automatically be added to this post when they're added to the NPC's page.

Wow (no pun intended), this guy is tough. I hadn't even fully trained him, he was still 6 levels below me, and we still managed to tackled 3 at-level cats simulataneously. Just shows what the right pet can do for a hunter. Huzzah for Bellyrub.
