Around how long does it take for this mob to respawn? I just tried to tame it with a low level hunter, just to have some jerk kill it while I attempted to tame. Thankfully he had challenged me to a duel right before he attacked it and I attacked him while Mezz, and another mob that aggrod him, went at him as well. He lost the duel and then got one shotted by the add, but unfortunately he managed to kill the one I wanted to tame before meeting his well-deserved fate. I am hoping he reappears soon (Mezz that is...could care less about the jerk), but would like to know roughly when to log back onto this hunter to try again.

Spotted him at 46, 42 on a 7 druid; killed him on the spot. He uses Deadly Poison at about half hit points, but otherwise is about as tough as an Elder Plainstrider. All that he dropped was a lousy Pioneer Cloak.

I saw Ghost Howl in the same place moments later. For obvious reasons, I didn't try to take him on.

Mazzranache is a great, surprisingly well-rounded pet!

My scary pink bird goes by Moneymaker, and I'm pleased to say that Moneymaker has lasted me from level 10 (my first pet on this char!) until the present, without a single complaint from me.

Pairing an oddball pet with a funny name is certainly a cliche at this point, but sometimes the absurdity helps me get through the hunter-y grind of things.

I initially had trouble finding Mazz when I was going to tame her, but over the course of time I've found her at generally the same spot on each encounter. There's a small dirt path, heading west from the main TB --> Bloodhoof road. Leads to the cave for the Rites of the Earthmother quest NPC--the place you follow the spirit wolf to.

I definitely recommend this pet for anyone interested in a unique experience over a focus-dumping DPS machine.

I'd love to see some names from RP servers for this type of strider, as well!

I tamed this animal quite a while back. Come patch 3.0, I was farming some Kurenei rep with my pink flamingo, PinkyMcSpam (named after Arggo's PinkyMcSteve), and I noticed a very interesting thing about this pet: every now and then he will randomly charge off and eat a rat. I'm not sure yet if it's just rats he goes after, or whether he likes eating all types of critters, but it's certainly an interesting easter egg. I'm also not sure if this behavior is restricted to Mazzranch, or whether all plainstriders behave in this manner.

This bird has a very nice talent tree in 3.0 and combined with his suave, unique look is a companion with a lot of attitude! Before this patch, tallstriders were seen as low dps "caster" or "trash" pets, but recent improvements have made it more practical to keep for grinding and raiding, especially with Dust Cloud. The only other strider with a truly unique look is the Strider Clutchmother, a lovely teal and red rare spawn you can tame in Darkshore.

As fortune would have it, while traveling across the plains, I encountered it, and it took a nasty bite from my shoulder. He was as terrible as my grandfather described.

You could argue that the use of "he" there is a little ambiguous.

While it may be true that, in the case of most sexually dimorphic birds, the males are typically brighter colored than their female counterparts, there is little evidence that tallstriders even exhibit the same form of dimorphism.

For example: Strider Clutchmother is quite obviously female, and is bright turquoise and red.

When I arrived in Mulgore to tame Mazz, he was dead. I waited to tame him, then waited to kill him again (I wanted the +agi chest). He seemed to take about 30 minutes to respawn, and both times, spawned in the far west.

i think i pulled to dumbest move in wow on this guy. just got mty 55 hunter back up and i was like "what the hell ima get a cool pet for a start" so i ride over to mulgore. i look for abotu 15 mins and i find him in the far west all excited and like "finally!". i hit tame pet but i forgot i already had a stupid lvl 50 croc i tamed out of boredem. croc 1 shots maz and now i wait :[

Lol, just tamed this guy on my main 72 NE hunter, named him Mazzranache(i name all my petsby there origonal names). Had him 4 times beforehand on my 26 BE hunter. Found him around Thunderhorn water well SSE from Thunder-Bluff, usually roams around that area. If u don't find him there, just look around in a general circle from the center of the well. Now i have a Taurenian Legend as a pet :D

Just went to get it today.
At first he wasn't up but Ghost Howl was, so i killed that bad boy wolf and took another round to look, and what do you know, he was up.

Named it DennyCrane since they call each other Flamingos :D

I found him just west (a litle noch north) from the venture & co. water well.
If you want to tame him you better just stay around there. I think he also spawns there (not sure though)
I made a macro: /target Mazzranache and i kept spamming it till i found him =)

My Blood Elf hunter has this guy and he's a pretty decent fighter. I get a heck of a lot of compliments for him, too. But I just think it is going to be really cool when I hit level 40 and get a mount because the BE mounts are these striders too. Anyway, I camped for him at 38,44 right next to the road, and I saw him spawn slightly northwest of where I was.

I, too, got him at the tender level of 10 (after making 3 tries to get him, dying once and going crazy for about 1/2 hour looking for him again lol). I'm also a blood elf, and I'm thinking of how wonderful he'll look next to my mount when I get it, as well as how peeved off the alliance is going to be when I pwn them at level 70 with a buff pink flamingo! My best advice for those of you looking to tame him is to make the attempt at about 4 a.m., that way there won't be as much competition from other people who want to kill or tame him, and bring healing potions, because this bird hits hard and doesn't tame very easily.

I thought I might share a nice story about my attempt to catch this guy... Im a 70, and I figured I would go back and grab him, train him up to 70, and keep him from there on out. Its a pain to do, Ill admit, but why not. Im bored. As soon as I go looking for him, I find him. I dismount, summon my pet to dismiss it... then forget he was on aggressive, and he one hits him. I didnt even get to loot it. Yay for stupidity :D

Moral of the Story:

If your going to hunt for a rare pet, STABLE YOUR DAMN CURRENT PET!

I am a dwarf hunter. I had the pink flamingo pre BC all of the hunters in our 40 man got one and named them after our main tanks. It was hysterical to send them into battle in MC or BWL and watch the CT raid message that a tank had died when it was really a retarded pink flamingo. My flamingo is now 70. It is hillarious to hear the thing screech as it goes waddling off to combat. It is even funnier to watch a pink flamingo turn bright red and wtf pwn clothies and rogues.

Seems like the respawn is about 30min for this little guy. Took a friend out to pick him up and someone else snagged him just as he spawned. Waited around for a bit and he respawned.

I got this bird six levels ago (level 21 as I type this), and I won't give him up for another pet. Not in a lifetime.

He is rather slow, to the point where he lags so far behind when I'm using Aspect of the Cheetah that I have to slow down just to see him by my side. Despite his lack of speed, he's a wonderful fighter.

Even when there are cooler, stronger, and faster pets out there, not once does my little pink strider leave my side. Not to mention, he turns a lot of heads when I'm running about Stormwind. ;)

It seems following speeds have been fixed (when Warlock's Minion Speeds were) as this guy keeps up with you just fine, even with AOTC.

Just got him myself, he wanders across the middle of Mulgore (as the map contributed above shows) and am looking forward to laughing as I see him chasing clothies all over Alterac Valley!

Found this Beast sittign by the road where it splits off the dirt road near the dwarves, was typign to some friends and happened to look up and see him, i was just sitting on my mount. took him long enough to spawn though. bery sick looking bird.

every one is about right i caught her just around the well right there just south of thunder bluff.. i am lvl 14 as of now great pet only has cower and growl but does ok dmg and has 483 hp and 887 armor she eats fruit fungus and cheese the fruit vender is in thunder bluff so u can feed he asap cause she will leave fairly quickly had to get her twice lol :) the mushroom guy is in under city he wonders around just take globe from silver moon if your a blood elf like me although getting there was fun lucky i am best friends with a mage got a port for free and off i went to get my bird the cheese vender is in falcon watch square so there is all your food...
i am frostin soo naturally i named her CupCake :) we make a great pair i will kinda warn you she is expensive gets un happy rather quickly but i dont care I LOVE MY PINK BIRD :)

This is the best tallstrider in the game because that they are all the same it comes down to looks and well shes bright pink.
The spwan time for her is about 15mins couse i killed her 3times in an hour and tamed her once after.

She is very cool but shes not the strongest pet so i use her for show more that anything else.

heres info to get him if you have a pet you dont wanna abandon
1 beast mark the beast
2 have your friend follow it
3 go stable your pet at a place near
4when you stable your pet go to where your friend followed it
5 tame the beast
thats how i got it and if you dont have a friend online or dont have one i can help you or you can type in general that you need help taming a beast after i got mine i dismissed it and my friend bought lots of fruit my server is black dragonflight happy hunting

I was going for my alliance hunters pet. And decided on this rare to be it. So i treaked from exodar all the way to mulgore only dieing once to horde guards. So i get to mulgore and start my looking for it. As am looking, a horde rogue starts wanting to duel me. he was a 13 and i was a 10. i did not fell like battling him so i denied. after 20 mins he was stalking me every chance challenging me to a duel. I then find the bird go up and start my tame and boom..he runs in and kills it.... Right then i had lost it....so then he continues challenging me to a duel.....i just sit down and wait till he left about 20 mins later. after that i was unable to find the bird.

Seems more popular for Alliance than Horde, odd consider Alliance has their own, far rarer bird than Maz. That said, both my Allie and Horde hunters have Maz.

I got him tonight as my first pet which was pretty freakin awesome. My friend came on as his lvl 19 undead priest and shielded me so I could get him.

His stats when you first get him are:
LEVEL 9
Strength 30, Agility 26, Stamina 29, Intellect 22, Spirit 23, Attack 45, Power 40, Damage 14-18, Defense 45, Armor 412

I was actually searching for another rare, Ghost Howl, which ended up killing me because I wasn't paying close attention. Before I released my spirit, I noticed in the distance a pink Plainstrider! But I had already clicked to release so I only got a quick glance, and remembered that the name started with an M and had two Zs in it. I searched around and discovered that it was Mazzranache and that my eyes were not deceiving me -- it WAS pink! I had to make her mine. :)

I wandered Mulgore after that for HOURS. When I resurrected, she was nowhere to be seen so the hunt was on! I looked everywhere and was just about to give up hope when I read what a few others had to say here. I am also an alechmist who specializes in herbalism, so I had herb tracking on. I took the tip from the other poster who mentioned that they had beast tracking on and would hover over the marks on the map to see what beast they represented. I had done that and still walked around for a LONG time. I was about to give up hope and headed back towards Thunder Bluff to turn in for the night. I hovered over the marks to make sure that I wasn't missing anything and THERE SHE WAS! Thank the heavens above!

I abandoned the temporary pet that I had tamed in the mean time (a level 5 wolf) and got to taming! Luckily the Mazzranache that I found was a level 9. I was worried I'd get a much lower one. She wasn't that hard to tame, although there were a LOT of other beasts around so I was worried I'd be getting attacked by something else while trying to tame her! I wasn't, and I had finally gotten my Mazzranache. I named her Roxette (but love the name Barbie that someone else came up with!) since that's what was playing on my playlist when I finally got her!

I found her at 43, 42 in Mulgore, very close to the Thunderhorn Water Well.

Best of luck to anyone else who wishes to tame Mazzranache! I love her so far!

Found again at 47,43 this time while gathering herbs and not even looking to grind or tame anything. I actaully had the Mazzranache that I had tamed (see previous post) with me. All that it dropped was a Pioneer Belt (not even a green item).

I have him as well, on a nightelf hunter. Haven't seen anybody else with him for a long time now. It took around 1 hour to get to Mulgore, and 5 mins to find him, and i can tell ya he's worth it. My main tried a Lost Torranche as well, but they are bugged (uses the walk animation instead of the run animation, it looks really weird).
It's fun how much attention he gets, since most people should know about him now. Then again, most people have random cat/boars on my server, so when my little elf runs up with a pink flamingostrider, who's named after a goddamn wrathguard, *shrug* its bound to get some looks xD

Was camping for this guy at Thunderhorn Water Well by Mulgore tonite with my partner and went afk for a min. Came back and found it dead-my friend had to kill him as he spawned and agro'd big time and my friend didnt want to tame him. Was very dissapointed but kept camping and after about an hour it respawned and I nailed him. He shrinks alot but is a very pretty pink. Hehe! Two mega pets in one day This guy and the Rake! Was a good day!

After possting this he spawned and agro'd us again! Maybe 10 minutes had passed. If anyone wants more into on location would be happy to help!

Both times my warrior, Wellin has killed him, he's dropped the Sleek Feathered Tunic. Both of them sold successfully on auction, and I'm looking for him a third time.

UPDATE: Found him in less than five minutes. I got Pioneer Boots, Cracked Bill, Cracked Eggshells, and Plainstrider Claw.

Have this pet at level 60. Got her when I was level 60 (and she was level 9).Has taken a LONG time to get her here but she was worth it. Named her Corky :) Hopefully Bliz will put in a special feat for plainstriders in a future patch. I'm thinking a "kick" like ability would be awesome! I don't know... I'm highly displeased at how my Humar is doing at higher levels, honestly, so I'm trying to go back to Mazz at level 60. I'm currently MM spec'ed, so I really just need something that has armor and can take the heat. I don't really ever use Prowl (although it's cool for a little while), and Bite/Claw just doesn't do very much damage. :( Humar is actually kind of loud, roaring all the time, and it seems like everyone has this "uber rare" pet. >_>

Mazz may not have extra armor (which is really what I need), but... S/he's pink. I am female. She works best for me. :)

Quite frankly, I plan on respec'ing to BM just for giant bird fun-ness. :D I don't want to level past 60, though, and I have to level her up from 28... Think I'll be okay if I just grind?

Just West of the goblin water well (and a tad North), on the right side of the road is where I found this beauty. Didn't do anything special, he just happened to spawn and I moused over the "dot" while tracking beasts.

2.0 attack speed, nothing special so far (I've only leveled him to 11 so far, with my 35 Hunter, hehe). BUT--he does look pretty freakin' cool.

Got him the other day. About 2 hours respawn rate. Stat info at lvl 12 & 6 loyalty: str:33 agi:38 stam:28 int:23 spi:25 attack:60 power:46 damage:16-21 defence:60 armor:580. Hope this is helpfull to someone ^^ hes the cutest birdy you could ever have!

I have this pet on my tauren hunter Cilitbang (yes I know the detergent is Cillitbang but that name wasn't available) and of course had to name the bird something pink and cleaning like, so I went for Vanish (since the jar is pink).

Have had Vanish for 13 lvl's now (since I was lvl 10) and he/she is really cool and a rather nice tank. I won't swap him/her for a long long time... think my next tamed pet will be at lvl 60, when I'll go for Sian Rotam, the white lion in Winterspring.

Get comments (all good) several times a day. And he/she really really looks cool.

My NE hunter has Humar the Pride Lord still at lvl 60, and he's just GREAT aswell.

Just tamed this beauty a few days ago. Once I hit level 10 I ran from Auberdine through Ashenvale to the Barrens. I grabbed a disposable tallstrider pet while heading through Mulgore. I ran around for an hour looking for Mazz spamming the target macro I had made.

When I finally found her a couple of low level tauren hunters killed her. So I logged out and came back the next day. Lucky for me Mazzranache was a few yards away from where I had logged out. I had to clear out a few mobs before taming her. Once tamed, she knows Cower Rank 1.

People are always stopping to check out my pink bird and wanting to know where I got her :P

u guys are weird,
A. he is NOT rare, he spawns like ever 20 min and is not hard to find
B. he is an easy tame
C. he looks kool, but except for cower, the thing is totally useless, if u want a lvl 10 first time pet, go for the rake

Found her in a few minutes on my 40 hunter, shes great to walk around and show off, I named her Whitescarlet =)

i found him on my lvl 8 druid, about 20min later i found him again, another 20min later i found him again, killed him all three times, gave me 2 sleek feathered tunics and a pioneer bracers.

well he IS awesome and i haven't ever seen anyone ever use one in PVP, but im getting him on my new cow *!@#$%^ - i mean hunter. Stats are ok but other than that it's all looks. lol... Pink...

found Mazzranache at 37,44 at 8:30pm Pacific Time.

...figures...I'm only lvl 8, so by the time I get to lvl 10, I'll forget all about her and just go for the Rake. Just wanted a rare pet that LOOKS rare.

My hunter, Drankk, has now had Mazz for 25 levels, being level 35 himself, and she's great! Lots of stamina, and nothing wrong with the damage, can learn Dash later making her even more useful... Just waiting for a chance to use her as main-tank in an instance, mwahahaha!

The trip to Mulgore was intresting, as a dwarf.
Dun Morogh -> Loch Modan -> Wetlands -> Dustwallow -> Barrens -> Mulgore
And once I finally got there, I saw her being killed by a tauren... after running around Mulgore waiting for her respawn for about 2 hours, I found her! No taurens to mess it up or anything, just ran up and took her! She's been with me since then, and I wont change to any other pet on this character!

Oh, and for those that preferes The Rake and such.. I understand you, but some of us go for the looks instead of stats, and this is a perfect example, heh

She spawned on me while I was on my level 9 Horde char. What a surpise it was to have one of the nice bird things start attacking me lol. I freaked out and killed it. I saw it was a rare monster but all I got was a pioneer cloak lol.

After hearing so much about this uber-cool pet I decided to start up a night elf hunter and get one of my own today. Took me a few hours to get to the magical lvl 10, and after that I pretty much just ran all the way to Mulgore. Surprisingly little aggro at that lvl, only died three times on my way there :) The hardest part of getting this pet is actually finding her. She wasn't at the location mentioned in the previous posts, so I just walked around aimlessly looking for her. I was about to give up when I managed to enter horde territory by mistake, and I hid stealthed while I waited for PvP to go off (this was in the middle of the night on a low populated server so I wasn't particularly worried). I had track beats on, and suddenly one of the dots showed Mazzranache! She was right by the road, around 39,44, so she probably spawned right at that moment. I ran over and started taming, and in the middle of channeling a tauren runs up to me! Luckily my PvP flag had gone off, and somehow I managed to complete the taming before he could kill her :D

Basically getting this pet is not hard, not even as lvl 10 alliance, as long as you know it exists ;) I didn't until yesterday, and I've been playing for almost a year now. Oh, and a piece of advice for those who want to go get one for themselves; bring some fungus, cheese or fruit with you. She's a picky eater and the mobs in Mulgore mostly drop meat ;p

After 3 hours and watching 4 seperate people kill this guy before I could reach him, I finally tamed him! I paid some people to help me get him, and from the time his corpse disappeared to when I found him it was 20 minutes.

Mazzranache is a very underused pet. You might see alot of people talking about it here, but they do get rid of it eventually (Most, if you don't you're awesome, I have yet to see one of these at 70 :3) I had Strider Clutchmother as my tallstrider, got rid of her when I found out about Spot. ..Off topic.. Mazzranache is a pretty fun pet to see chasing people in the battlegrounds. I mean it's funny watching people run from a giant pink bird! Imagine that, hah. Her Respawn Timer is 20min. Good luck!

Met this fellow today, needed to go afk for a minute, parked myself in a safe spot on the road well away from nearby mobs... and came back to find myself dead.

Looking at the combat log I saw the name, looked him up here and found I'd got killed by a silver elite - just my luck! I vowed to get revenge, hunted him down, and my druid now has his first green, as the chestpiece dropped :-)

I spent two days searching for this bird on my NE hunter. Getting into Mulgore took the longest, and then I just kinda logged on now and then for the next couple days and ran around, mashing my target macro I had set up. But finally I saw her! She's pretty, but she shrinks a TON. Why do all the cool pets end up small? She's still pretty though. I named her Donut.

9/3/19 Just got him at 44 40. And he can still kick your butt. It helps to be a couple of levels higher than he is. He has a kick like a mule but he's so worth it. I'm gonna limp back to Thunderbluff and repair now. Good luck finding him.

Tamed him on my lvl 10 dwarf hunter (classic reboot). Took about 2 and half hours to get to mulgor, and about 5 minutes to find him. He does hit hard, but slow. Didn't need any special buffs or enchants, or boosts wearing all grey gear. Going name him pinkypie after my granddaughter's favorite my little pony.

Resawn Time: 1 hour.
I was looking for him and spamming chat for him when someone apologizes and tells me he just killed him. 1hr 5m later i find him again and get the tame.

Does anyone remember if Mazzranache used to roam a smaller area? I farmed this mob occasionally for a couple years trying to get a leather chest to drop. I'm up to about 100 attempts with no luck. I used to make a large circle from the road east and could usually find the mob. Now I see there's reports of this mob patroling back and forth from one side of the map to the other. Did Blizzard increase it's area of patrol?
