He can be found at 49,41 and has two special abilities:

Throw Bear Pelt
Harold will throw a bear pelt at the player doing 1000 - 1200 physical dmg (on leather) approximately every 3 seconds while at range.

Bear Trap
Harold will place a trap on the ground, typically next to the player, which will root the player in place and do 315 damage every 2 seconds for 10 seconds. While player is rooted, Harold will run to ranged distance and use the Throw Bear Pelt ability.

You are also provided with the Cenarion Horn, which will summon a stampede and do approximately 50% damage to Harold. Note: the horn will only damage Harold once.

He can be solo'd by druids by keeping him at range (root) and healing through the bear pelts while dpsing.

Soloed with difficulty as 72 Demonic 'lock. My Curse of Doom got him as i died.

Immune to fear.

Don't make the same mistake i did - kill ALL nearby mobs and patrols before pulling! Also, be sure to use the horn - the stampede does huge damage and may also have interrupted/distracted him (too chaotic to tell :)

Soloed as a lvl 71 ret pally in mostly T6. Wasn't really that challenging. Did not need to heal or pot at all. Remember to use the horn they give you, this killed him almost instantly. I got him down to about 30% before I used the horn.

soloed as a 71 prot warr in kara/gruul gear; ended with about 65% health left.

used the horn right off the bat and basically tanked him down. use your stuns, debuffs, ap trinks, and oh&*!@ buttons and he should be a piece of cake.

Solo'd on a level 72 Frost Death Knight, using Unholy Presence.

2x Icy Touch (with glyph for extra 10 runic power) (+40 runic power)
2x Blood Strike (+20 runic power)
2x Plague Strike (+20 runic power)
2x Frost Strike (-80 runic power)
Repeat until dead, using free Howling Blast when it procs.

He died in about 25 seconds. I didn't even have to sac a ghoul. I did use the horn, however. I was left with about 4k HP left out of 13.5k total. I was wearing the tank gear you get from the quests for Utgarde Keep and Nexus, wielding Axe from final Utgarde boss.

You can solo this as a 71 Demon warlock (I was in mostly Kara epics at the time)

I sent my voidie in (10k hp with the 20% extra glyph), aggroed both goons standing in the camp nearby, cast SoC on both of them then charged in with metamorphosis and immolation aura up. Called the horn and spammed dots + incinerate on him until dead.

I had to use a healthstone when I saw him run back to throw the pelts, but other than that it wasnt too difficult.

All the quests are soloable as a warlock they are accually pretty easy, just create a Demonic healthstone and have it ready then summon your felguard and have fel domination ready if your fel guard dies, Put fel guard on harold and setup dots then when you get agro set up dots again and spam incinerate, then if you get low on hp just use your healthstone and start dpsing again.
He should be death now.

I didn't see any other comments saying this so ill go ahead. Don't waist your time using the Horn more then once, for some reason even though it has a like 10 second cooldown, after you use it once, it wont work again. The mammoths do huge damage to him but after a single use, they stop appearing, so don't waist your time casting it again.
PS: Soloed as a 71 Blood DK, so hes easy if you get some lucky CDs in...

I think it's funny how you're sent to assassinate him and that he's elite and has a lot more fancy clothes after he was lying in a tent writhing in pain from a scratch in Nagrand. Glad you healed up Harold, time to die. ;P

This must be a bug, it appears that whenever I DON'T step into his bear trap and try to avoid it, He runs back and resets.
Has been a real pain seeing as the first time i got him to 2% before he ran back for no apparent reason.

Solo'd as a level 70 blood Death Knight.

I made sure to blow the horn to get him to 1/2 health. I also made sure that whenever to jumped away from me I used Death Grip to get him back and then Chains of Ice to keep him close so I could get off Death Strikes to heal myself.

soloed on a lvl 71 BM hunter didn´t use horn didn´t know i had it:S but still easy i just nuke him pet gets rooted i lost about 3-4k hp pet had full hp at end:D hope this helps everyone can solo.. or i think if they can play:D

I managed to solo him as a level 71 hunter, with no special gear, whatsoever (Only quest items from Borean Tundra.).
I sent in my pet (Gorilla), blew all my cooldowns, I am a troll, so I have Berserking as well, kept up Scorpid Sting at all times!
Used a mana potion after I blew my cooldowns as well.
I was BM, so I used Intimidation two times, and pulled aggro off of him when he was at about 50% HP, and my pet was on about 5/9k, just so my pet would have a little bit bigger chance of surviving.
My pet actually died when Harold was on 97 HP.
And I forgot to use my horn (Forgot one gets that horn:S), so I believe it would be miles and miles easier if I had used it.

This Mobs is really easy to solo - just be aware of traps u can move away from them before they trap u - As of now i got 1000056dmg on him for grindign Frostweave :) - So he aint hard at all , im a shadow priest never droped below 7k health - i have 8,6 >.<

Kinda weird that D.E.H.T.A, a bunch of druids, wants us to kill this guy, when back in nagrand you did quests and he had a druid idol(https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=25643) named after him.

Soloed as arms warrior, pretty pathetic, he goes down fairly quick, but he deals a great bunch of damage, even though you use the horn too. He had just stunned me and was about to give me the final pelt to kill me, when he died from my rend+trauma+deep wounds combo, rofl.

Solo'd as a lvl 71 frost DK without too much trouble - only died once :)

Rembered to sound the horn first and also pulled him down to the shoreline with Death Grip. On my first try, two of the NPC's respawed while we were fighting and three was too many :)

Watch out for his respawn which is very fast.

solo'd as disc priest lvl 72..his bear pelt deal 1100 dmg but my holy nova deal 450-500dmg to him and 900 heal to me..pretty easy just done it in 30 secs using shadow fiend for mana regen and horn at 49-50k of his hp

He's pretty intimidating to look at...but the horn you get for the quest OBLITERATES him, and he's pretty weak to start with. Not a threat to anyone, really.

Just solo'd him, 71 demon lock. was fairly easy. cleared the mobs near him.

strategy: send in felguard, dot up harold, 3x incinerate, heal felguard. rinse & repeat. had 1 add, crazyloot hunter respawned where i was standing, feared him. i didnt even try fearing harold and i forgot about using the horn, i am such a n00b! lol oh well. harold didnt drop any trap & run off or whatever, he just stood there hitting felgrd. i left with about 50% health & mana, felgrd had 50% health & oom.

Easy quest, soloed as a 71 shadow priest. Just started off by popping shadowfiend, then dps him down to about halfway. Blow the horn, and it's over. I think I still had 90% health and never had to heal myself.

Managed to solo as a level 72 frost mage. Had to burn all cooldowns, and wasn't really easy. Try clearing all Loot Crazed Hunters before engaging him.

The trick is keeping him frozen while standing in a range that doesn't allow him to hit you with Bear Pelt. Sounds easier than it is.

Go with potions, use your Water Elemental, and don't be afraid of using Cold Snap to resummon him or Ice Block.

Got him on my third try.

Was NOT able to solo him as a 70 rogue. He throws furs on you which root you and he does ranged attacks. CoS does not remove the root. This becomes pretty much constant when he is close to dying. Each time he was almost dead (less than 5%) but I died first after blowing all my cooldowns and pot. Also watched a 71 DK die to him a bunch of times... not sure what he was doing though.

LOL I maked him solo easy with Frost pressence and 1 major runic potion. I was at 75. And I had 12k of armor. (the armor was made by a friend at 80 already.)

The trap can be trinketed out of for the rest of you melee classes, if you can keep him close to you as long as possible he is cake. His bear pelts were hitting me for around 700-1000 in plate.

Soloed as a 70 hunter with quest rewards and a few auction house greens. As long as you don't pull any adds he can be taken down fairly easily, with or without the horn.

Soloed as a lvl 72 feral druid. I actually forgot to use the horn but never actually ran into any trouble. Just keep lacerate on and mangle/maul. When he traps you and tries to get some range to throw the bear pelts, just pop rejuvenation.

soloed as 71 demo orc warlock. here it goes how it happened;

1- popped metamorphosis, blood fury, spell power trinkets, demonic empowerment
2- let the felguard attack
3- DoT harold lane (immolate, corruption, CoA)
4- gogogo immolation aura
5- blowed the horn
6- drain lifed when i get bored
7- harold lane dead

Seeing people say that they solo'd him and reveal this huuuge strategy of theirs made this fight a lot more intimidating than necessary.

Sure, I used cooldowns, and had to time things right, but at 70, I took him down with a shadow priest. Not a really big deal.

For those who care:

Shield
Shadowfiend (To hold aggro while I put the dots/embrace on)
Mind blast, flay, flay, repeat.
Shield when needed.
If shield wears off long before weakened soul, dispersion, shield once dispersion wears off.
If dispersion is on CD and shield wears off early, use the horn, heal up if need be, probably refresh dots.

If you die, or run out of mana, you did it wrong. Enjoy waiting for the cooldowns and try again.

I did the fight at range the whole time, because whenever my shield goes up, all those dots and crits healed me up nicely.

It helped that the bear pelt missed 3 times in a row.

Solo'd him without the horn (just to see if I could) as a lvl 72 prot warrior. Bear Pelts were dealing 800... but sometimes he moved 8 yrds away to throw then (thus charge/intercept stopped the attack). Other than that just a healthy does of revenge/glyph of revenge, concussion blow, shield slam and shockwave (kept him stunned most of the battle.)

I did solo as a lvl 70 Holy Pally with weak gear my dps is AWFUL ... the fight took ages and we killed each other at the same time with our final blows ... I used 1 low level health pot and didn't have any mana pots left ... but I did complete it first try so I think anyone can do it .. perhaps it's been nerfed recently not sure. You have to be quick with the traps to get away and the things he throws at you when trapped did me some damage but as I said my gear is pathetic.

Just soloed him as 71 Shadow Priest, mostly quest greens, some blues. Just kept my self bubbled and away from him. Use my pet for some extra damage. He never got me lower than half my health. Easily soloable

Quite difficult as a level 70 Rogue. Died 4 times before finally downing him, and even that with help of some random 80 Dwarf.

Everyone says he doesn't hit so much, but i saw him crit 2k on my 2500 armor every now and then. The Loot Crazed Poachers running around him are a P.I.T.A. too (see what i did there?).

Sometimes i wished i picked up First Aid like momma told me...

Got him as a 72 hunter with a 71 silithid pet with BM. I forgot about the horn but i used mend pet, then entered combat. Wasted trinket CD kill command and beastial wrath while keeping mend pet up. My pet died but he was low enough to use kill shot on.

I soloed him as a survival hunter i dont really remember the level but i think it was around 71-73 .
I started with a few steady shots until he came to me
Then winglip and Disengage
When he again get to me frost trap or concusive shot
When he was slowed down i was just running around in circles and spamming DoTs all the time (Explosive shot,Black arroow,Serprent sting)
And i was using snake trap too (Those nasty lil snakes apply slow poison as well)
After i i killed him I ended up with more than 80 % hp and less than 20% mana
Very easy to solo just slow him down and spam DoTs on him AND try not to hit that bear trap

Soloed as 71 Destruction Warlock.
I popped an Infernal on him, used the stampeede thing and fired some Chaos Bolts and Incinerate. It would have been pretty easy I think if I hadn't been OOM when he aggroed me.
The trick to defeating him as a Warlock is simply to use an Infernal.

Solo'd as a 71 cat form druid with about 9k health.
Pop'd Rejuve and Regrowth on myself before pulling 'im with Faerie Fire. When he ran off I healed up using Regrowth and Healing Touch then proceeded fighting. Hit him with maim when he was at about 5k health, and healed again before finishing him off.
Really quite easy, if a little scary.

Solo'd this as a level 72 fire mage. Combustion > mana shield > pyroblast - scorch - living bomb (all 3 before he gets to u) > then just go through your normal single target rotation. pot > mana gem > dead. Didn't need to use horn.

Can be solo'd as a prot warrior quite comfortably, just spam devastate as a priority and use revenge when it's avail and use shockwave on cd. If your health is falling rapidly use shield wall.

I did this with about 30% health remaining and didn't even realise you could use the Cenarion Horn to lower his health.

Solo'd as a lv71 frost mage.

Put up Ice Barrier and Mana Shield to ensure that you don't take damage from the bear pelts that Harold Lane throws. Toss up Icy Veins right before you begin the fight, and fight. If you have a permanent Water Elemental, then just spam Frostbolts while your elemental spams Waterbolts, and move back to maximum range whenever Frostbite procs. Otherwise, you can use your Water Elemental to use it's Freeze ability, then move back to maximum range. At maximum range, Harold Lane cannot attack a mage.

When Icy Veins runs out or Harold Lane's HP is about 55-60% (whichever comes first), blow the horn. If Ice Barrier is broken before the end of the fight, just reapply it when the cooldown runs out. Mana Shield should cover you for the little bit of time that your Ice Barrier is down. If he is still alive after the stampede (which he may be if your Water Elemental is not still spamming him) keep attacking him. You may attack during the stampede. Harold Lane does not attack back during this time.

If the fight gets really tough or you are having bad luck with procs, you may need to use a potion., but it is unlikely.
