They are reasonably easy to see. They have about 13,200 hp & their attacks only do about 200 to my hunter.

They spawn anywhere on the Manaforge Ultris island, except for the Ethereum & Protectorate bases. I've seen 2 just south of the Protectorate base & 1 south east of the Ethereum base.

One of the Jailors just dropped the Enchant Bracer - Major Defense for me, so it is not just the Nullifiers that drop it.

Does anyone know the respawn time/behaviour of these? I've just killed the two of them that were there, waited about 1 h but still no repop. Killed a dozen of the other Ethereums in the area but still not a single Jailor has respawned.

I think the spawn rate is between 4-8 hours per jailor, and I've seen a maximum of 2 spawned on the island at one time.

If Blizz uses a 2 hour spawn timer I might check that out, but I don't know of any mobs (outside of an instance) on that timer.

The easiest way is just to make a quick circle around the island looking for the large, red-glowing ethereals. I stop by there every other day or so when i'm checking for motes from the vendor in stormspire or farming motes of mana.

I spent almost 3 hours now trying to get one of these keys. I have been looking for the jailors and have not seen any yet. I am grinding gold for my mount, so I think I am going to drop this quest chain for now. I wish Blizzard would stop putting quests like this in the game, they are such a waste of time.

I am doing the Ethereum Secrets for prisoner ID tags...

As a healbot priest, I found the jailors to be tougher than the spawned prisoners, they hit relatively hard on cloth (not impossible tho).

I have yet to see one of these, is it possible they actually spawn based on what mobs are being killed? I was an FFXI player, and some special mobs would *only* spawn if you killed enough of a particular normal mob, so I was curious if that may be the case here.

If youre desparate for Consortium rep, farm the Zaxxis. They have about a 3% chance to drop a prison key & you can turn in their insignias for rep.

This is a sweet combo. After an hour of farming Zaxxis Insignia, I had 5 prison keys and 50 insignia.
Total Consortium rep for Insignia and (resulting) I.D. tags: 2250.
Added bonus: the mobs that spawn from jail cells yielded 3 green drops and 2 blue BoP drops.

edit: According to wowhead, the drop rate for Prison Keys from Zaxxis is 0.3%, not 3%. I must have had a nice run of luck to get so many keys that quickly.

After two solid days of farming, I have yet to see a single Jailor. They must be rarer than a three-dollar bill.

Jailers are a myth.

I spent two hours flying around and killing mobs so the jailers could spawn in their place.

Nothing.

They just don't exist. Don't bother with this quest, as it will take days of killing avengers to find a key, and you're likely to be kiled by the prisoner anyway.

these have a long cooldown on their spawn - feels like mb 30mins. up to two can appear at any time.

best thing to do is clear out a confined area of mb 25-30 normal ethereals, then go kill the two jailors that pop up. unless your server is unusual, not many people will be farming these, so the jailors will be "waiting" to spawn. kill some and they pop into place.

I call bs on this quest. I killed random ethereums for a half hour in a localized vicinity, using the map coords shown, i circled the rock a couple times pre and post killing no other farmers and lo i never saw a jailor. so strange... and quite lame.

The reason you cannot find any after looking for them for hours is that, if there are no enemies dead, then nothing can respawn. If everything spawned isn't a jailor, kill some and he may spawn in their place. This would be what FallingDown did, but maybe successfully.

I just now logged onto the Nathrezim realm after today's server reset (4/29) and killed FIVE Ethereum Jailors all around the Voidwind Plateau.

I must be extremly lucky then I found a jailor after about 5 mins of farming around voidwind plateau. While I was looting my key another jailor jumped me from behind.

COMPILED INFORMATION FROM COMMENTS

1. The Jailor is twice as big as any other Ethereal, just look around.
2. The Jailor will only drop Ethereum Prison Keys after you have finished the quest A Mission of Mercy. If you have done the quest, the drop rate will be 100%.
3. The Jailor spawns where any other ethereal is, as long as they're on the Manaforge Ultris island, and not in a base.
4. It is possible to see 2 Jailors spawned at the same time. Just highly unlikely.
5.They have about 13,200 hp, and they don't hit too much.

That's about it I think, as least for the time being. please put +1, to keep this alive for other people to see.

I was trying to get one key fast so I can finish ID tag quest and be done with Netherstorm. Strangely at 2 AM on low pop server there was no Jailors at all. In my rage I started to one shooting ethernals where Jailors should spawn. When I did another circle to check respawns I found 3 Jailors.

So if there are no Jailors around and you are sure that nobody just killed them then you just need to clear arena and hope next respawn will be more lucky.

Make a macro for /target ethereum jailor, then fly around the spawn areas and spam it. Took me about ten seconds to find a jailor.

This guy may be "visible" on account of his size and coloring, but he is extremely hard to find. even using a /tar macro does not help. My easiest drops did not even come from Ultris, but off the Zaxxis mobs just south and west of Area 52...this is the same place you can grind for rep for the insignias.

i found the ethereum jailor at 58,49 next to a spikey rock formation, i killed him alone while my friend was afk, the key he drops is not soulbound but its not a quest item so only one person can loot it. the jailor can buff himself with magic and damage resistance so hes tougher than the average ethereum, he looks similar to an avenger so he might be tough to find. I looked back for him again but there was just an avenger there, he seems to have random spawn locations but i dont think he patrols around. best bet is probably to make a /target macro for him, also it doesnt look like he spawns in the ethereum camp, only on the south part of the hill

Found Ethereum Jailor at 65,32. He has about 13k life, quite easy to kill with my arms warrior using retaliation.

Random spawns.

You have 2 options farming keys.
1. Just work your way around the manaforge ultris and kill all the etherium guys. ~4% droprate with around 200 killed for me so far. Once in a while you will encounter a jailor (I'd say one of about 50 spawns of other etherium mobs).
2. Fly over the area around ultris and hope you see a spawn. I've made complete circuits without seein a single spawn, and then seen 2 in one circuit. Definitely more fun this way if you see a player of the opposite faction farming them and you plop down on the jailor and kill it. I wouldn't do it for my own faction.

Not a bad way to burn a few hours. After all this, I had 15 keys (enough to get me through revered). The prisons spawn a 71 mob, dies easy. He drops at least one green, sometimes a blue and one prisoner ID for the repeatable quest. Once in a while, you get a prisoner of another faction (I got one Sha'tar and one Cenarion Exp) releasing these guys gives you 500 rep of their respective factions. Unfortunately, I was already exalted with the Cenarion so that was a waste of a key.

They are significantly larger than the other mobs too. I finally found one after clearing the same general area for about twenty minutes, then one spawned. Clearly recognizable from the others.

I got the key then unlocked one of the orb prisons, but didn't get the name tag instead i got 500 rep with CoT? not bad but would rather have quest item for money

I spent about 45 min looking for this guy, finally found him and he dropped a key. I opened a prison and I got...a Sporregar scout. +450 Sporregar rep. Whee. *rolls eyes*

Don't use the keys for faction! the quest chain is a long one and you will use many of these keys. This Mob is a great way to get the keys, but you'll need at least 11 of them to complete the chain... if you're lucky! Otherwise you'll have to keep finding sets of 5 to continue the chain.

The south and Icoshock's prisons have about an even spawn rate of whether to spawn rep prisoners or hostile mobs. From my experience, about 1 out of 3 of the hostle mobs will drop a blue item. These blue items are BoP, but some have nice stats on them.

and yh IF it there then its easy to spot:

look for a huuuge red ethereium guy, he is like twice as big as the others, and he is red, so its easy to spot on the purple floor

HINT: i just looted 2 keys from the Zaxxis too, which are easier to kill....

The macro worked best for me, i flew all around only found him once and the first time i used the macro i found him hiding behind i rock, i normally wouldnt have found him if it wasnt for the macro

I killed 3 of these guys inside 15 minutes (around 5am server time when hardly anyone else was on) and zero keys. I read above and noticed I had not done the salvaged ethereum key quest...do it first or you will shoot yourself when you actually see one of the jailors.

Flown over the island for like 1,5 houres now, sometimes I was bored and killed some other etherium..

I know it's obvious, but the macro won't work if you spell the target wrong.

I'd normally write jailer rather than jailor. So would my Firefox UK spellchecker.

I am so lucky i got this in less then an hour of running around the place voidwind plateau. My frost tank needed it to up his def for hydross fight. Now I just need 15 spell damage to bracers which i've been farming for a year now that sucks!

You can recieve the keys randomly from other Ethereals also. I've gotten one off of one the 2 groups of Ethereals at the end of The Arcatraz; because it's a green item it was also rolled for, which I won luckily. The second key I've found was randomly off an Archon near the prisons in Netherstorm. I'd guess the stronger the ethereal, the more likely you get the random drop.

EDIT: Scratch everything I just said... 68, 46 is the spot you will find one Ethereum Jailor spawn point. His spawn rate seems to be about once every 3 spawn cycles of the regular mobs. I didn't time it exactly, but it's about 15-20 minutes maybe. While you're waiting for him to respawn, keep the general area clear of other Ethereum and you might get lucky with more key drops. ;)

I've been flying around looking for a jailor... I decided to try farming mobs around the prisons and the Warden dropped one as soon as I killed him. Gonna try again because i got a KoT person for 500 rep.

Well... After farming the area for a while now I've determined they are semi-rare/random spawns. You have to kill the Avengers and Nullifiers around the Ethereum Staging Grounds. Sometimes a Jailor will spawn- it is just rare. I tested it by just farming a small area and sure enough, after a period of time, a jailor was amongst the respawns.

They have 14,000 hitpoints non elite. Hit decently. 500-1200 on leather. Also have that damage reduction special attack.

Was flying around Netherstorm and saw him. Immediately knew it was him seeing as he stands out from the other Ethereals. He's much taller and has a red glow about him.

Found him to the east of Ultris, almost to Celestial Ridge.

Decent amount of health, pretty fast attack speed but doesnt hit too hard. He was hitting me for about 150-300 in leather. Would've been less if I'd switched to Boomkin form but I was too lazy.

Overall, easy kill, dropped the key which is pretty valuable on my realm, so all is good ^^

I found 4 jailors within 30 minutes earlier tonight. Went back to the area, spent an hour searching and killed a bunch of the other Ethereum guys. No spawns.

Whats the spawn rate for these guys? I killed 2 within 25 mins and been flying around for the past 45 mins and haven't seen one since. Drop rate was 100% so far though which isnt too bad.
