Guaranteed green drop, but this guy can take a lot of beating, not to mention the Scarlet Workers you'll get on your tail too. Combat swords rogue, 6/8 T3, AQR + CTS, barely got him down using all cooldowns.

Of course it helps if you can use some sort of crowd control on the adds while slowly pulling the Smith more further away.

Easy solable by a mage. Btw he have good fire protection, its like inner dampen magic, so fire blast hits like for 150. Usually drops bs plans and some green.

I believe this mob is near the lumber mill in Hearthglen of the Western Plaguelands. I'm not entirely sure, though, but I think I remember seeing him there once before. I'll try finding him to get a map up for you all.

Solo'd him with my 70 prot warrior. Just concentrated on downing him so I could loot the plans and then I just took off - no sense taking a chance one of his helpers would run and agro the field of elites right next to the smithy. They did, too, but not till I'd gotten a good lead on them, HAHAHA. Better to run off with my new plans and a nice leather greenie (something of the monkey) than to stick around and get PWN'd by a bunch of scarlet elites with some nasty knockdowns and holy damage.
*I've seen this guy (or another rare elite) in the lumber mill in Hearthglen, too, but took him out in/near the Smithy - he ran out when he got low on health, didn't do him any good though.

Seemingly non-elite post 2.3 but still has elite-level hitpoints so watch out.

Drops 1-2 greens. Rare spawn. Has a silver dragon border but this one IS Elite, and comes with 4 adds. Hard to take alone. Drops BoP plans.

On the Skywall server.
Been looking for the smith to spawn for almost a week. In that time I would always see these 2 farmers (alliance mages) AoE the Scarlet workers for gold and what not everytime I would check the place out. He finally spawned inside the Armory, these farms AoE'ed him with the other workers as I was getting ready to fire on him with my crossbow. I was so pissed at this, that I was coming back every 2 - 4 hours after that. The Scarlet Smith respawned almost 20 hours later this time it was a female. I almost had her the first time if it wasn't for the named 60 elite pat that walks by. Called on some of my Guildies for help, one came and he helped me down her. Dropped the Plans: Runic Plate Leggings and some green leather gauntlets.

No, not a 20 minute battle, though she was tough... I showed up, camped the smithy for a while, then had some *** rogue gank me while I was fighting 3 workers. Smith spawned in almost as soon as I rezzed, took about 5 minutes for a 60 pally to take down, and that was with 1 worker tagging along.

Guess I just got lucky. My plans dropped the first time.

Solo'd as a 60 rogue and it was tough.
Picked off the outlying workers but still had to contend with the adds that surround Smith directly.
After 8 deaths and hitting 9% durability, i finally did it.
Masterwork cape of the wolf and the crappy BOP plans....which are trash because i'm an engineer.

2 Gold in repairs, 2 major heal pots, 5 heavy runecloth bandages, 4 poisons and 3 flash powders lost.
Maybe i should have had help but i wouldn't dare solo that one again unless i was a blacksmith.

I am a 60 fury warrior on Balnazaar. i took out the three adds that come with this spawn (spawned outside the smith building in hearthglen) and then died to the high protector patrol. I came back, rezzed, and took her out with about 500 hp left. she's definitely elite but WoW doesn't tell you that she's elite. Same as everyone else, dropped the plans and a green.

killed ads 2 by 2 and vanish directly after
then took the smith on with preperation on cooldown..
really easy kill imo.. didnt use any pots or anything..

It's still there along with 4-5 other rares in that camp. I farm them for the drops and stuff, can usually get 7-8 greens up there in one run, however the smith is the only one that drops bop, the rest are boe. Never see anyone up there at all as everyone is in outlands now.

This guy is definitely a rare spawn.
I killed everyone in the smithing shop, and then went into the mine, and never saw the guy. Was there for more than a couple hours.

Yes, he's in the smithing area. And it's no regular mob either, it has elite hp, soooo I wasn't able to kill it before I had to run from the other 5 adds (should probably try to clear the room first next time). It also doesn't help that there are 4+ horde rogue farmers in hearthglen that will attack you on sight.

I killed this guy in the blacksmith place by the mine in hearthglen. He was extremely easy and dropped a green and runic greaves pattern.

He spawns inside the blacksmith shop. I killed him today and it was not an easy fight. He is definitely not the typical silver elite. Much more like a typical elite except he doesn't hit as hard. He dropped a blacksmith plan I couldn't use and a decent green.

He got EXTREME fire resistance, my fireballs hitted him for about 200 (with fire specc and 150+ spell dmg)

So all (fire)mages, hard mob, with elite hp and immunity to fire (allmost).
