One of two bears that have Claw rank 2 in the dwarf starting areas. The other is Mangleclaw https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/npc=1961 but he has a knockdown/interrupt so I wouldn't recommend bothering with him.

i tamed it at lvl 12 with full red armor , as orc hunter

i used Really Sticky Glue from quest Really Sticky Glue from Master Vornal in Sen'jin Village.

he was stucked for 10 seconds and whene he realesed himself from glue he was half tamed and didnt stun me

made it at first try althu like i said full red :)

Tamed him today on lvl 20. Used freezing trap to spare some of my life. I always wanted a Polar Bear... Found him at (54.6, 56.5).

I tried taming him on my 12 Dwarf hunter. Tried about 6 times and kept failing. Then I finally saw the error message was telling me I didn't have an open stable slot. /facepalm

Been so long since I played a hunter I forgot about that.

Abandoned my pet, tried the tame again and got him.

I will say, if you are attempting to tame him at level 12, eat the best buff food you can find first. He got me down to 20% or lower health on every tame attempt I did (and killed me on one of them).

When I was doing low lvl quests to get rep, I accidently killed this in front of a hunter, then he started flaming me >_>

Aside from what others say, this is a fairly simple Beast to capture as a Pet at level 12. Get as far away from him as the tame pet range allows, use aspect of the monkey, hit him with a concussive shot, and start taming. He will get to you, but as far as I did it, he only got me to 20% of my health.

I donno i found him without any problem. lol i donno i guess when it said rare i thought it was goin to be like the one my friend got took him forever to find his. lol but i like bjarn he is very pretty and a cool pet to lvl with :)

When looking for the pet you can make one circle over the area each 5 min to save some time. As I heard the mob has 1.5-2.5 hours respawn time, but I'm not sure about it. I got mine after ~30 min staying in the area.

He's pretty easy to tame, but you have to time it just right. I got him at level 12 on my dwarf, but it left me at very low health after the spell was finished and i was killed by a random mob.

As a pet this would be a great pet for any race, yes including horde (for those lucky few who can get there). Anyone know what his respawn time is?

The spawn time on bjarn is 1.5- 2.5 hrs :D

Ok, bjarn is like the rake but just opposite, rake does damage, but this guy can take multiple hits. he is very good for keepoing the aggro. I need to know the exact respawns time if possible, and im on wildhammer.

I found Bjarn after about 15-20 minutes of looking for him. He was west of the Gol'Bolar Quarry around the coordinates of 53,58. Easy to tame him because I was lvl 19 and really wanted a white bear. But he kicks booty, i recommend him for anyone.

I just found him at: 56,58. He dropped Bard's Cloak (white item) for a Level 9.

Okay...I had been sitting there camping Bjarn for HOURS and he is nowhere to be found...So i gave up.

I heard that there was another bear with white fur called Mangeclaw.. He pretty much looks the same as Bjarn..

I make my way towards the North Gate Outpost in Dun morough, And luckily hes there...He is kind of hard to tame because he has an ability that stuns u and it interrupts your taming spell.

But i figured out a way to do it, and i finaly tamed mangeclaw.

Lol..heres the funny part.

I was really bummed out because i really wanted Bjarn. At this point I was making my way towards Kharanoz...but as im very lazy I was non-hesitant to take the shortcut through the tundrid hills.

I was too lazy to kill anything so i just decided to run through all the badies...

At first i thought Mangeclaw who i had recently trained, had ran away and turned on me.

But.. I looked back and there where 2 bears running after me... I noticed i still had Mangeclaw BUT Bjarn was chasing me!

Lol i was shocked and my heart was pounding so i quickly abandoned my current pet and starting taming Bjarn :D

I found him near the tudrid hills directly southeast from Kharanos..The arrow in the picture below pin-points exactly
where I found him!

Hah, my story is virtually the same as the guy before me. My hunter is level 26 and I'm STILL using Bjarn, He's an awesome tank and can easily take on multiple enemies while shrugging off the damage. (He packs quite a punch too, Nearly killed me when I was lvl 14 and he was lvl 11...)

I had a duel with a hunter the same level, with a regular ice claw bear that was the same level (loyalty and all) And my bear totally owned the ice claw bear. Bjarn is great for a starter pet, he's worth the time.

found him at 56.58 really easy, took me 20sec for find him, the only problem is that im lvl 22 ^_^. anyone got any tips for me how to lvl him up fast?

found this guy around where the mountains go downward south and tried ta tame him twice the first time i got killed by a leopard and the second i had only 12 hp left but it was worth it!

Thanks for all the comments! I am lvl 12 Blood Elf hunter (at the moment) on Area 52 and I ran from Silverpine forest through Hillsbrad, Arathi, Wetlands and Loch Modan to Dun Morough, wiping several times and completely making my gear "red". I found the bear almost right away. He was at that spot near the lying dead tree (there is a screen shot with the pointing arrow at exact place he was walking). He is cool looking: white with blue eyes and he is lvl 12! His attack speed is 2.0 and at lvl 1 loyalty he does 11.2 dmg/sec and has about 750 (about 33% block) armor so far. He is worth all the trouble of getting him especially that you have a good chance that he is just right there, waiting for you to tame him :)

I got this bear as a level 12 Dwarf Hunter "Santacleeze" (Altar of Storms) and have had him until my current level 29.
Absolutely the best pet I've had so far and with proper training you will rock the BG's!
It is so funny watching the enemies run scared with him right behind them, it takes 4+ Horde tanks to take him down!
When he 1st hit level 29 I took him as a test to see how far I could get against Mor'Ladim (35 Elite) in Raven Hill Cemetary... To my surprise I was able to kill him (just barely) with thanks to B'Jarn!
Of course I'm a low-cost Twink, but that says alot for this bear!
It's a shame he can't learn Prowl...

Well I wasn't quite a level 12 so I grinded and killed bonesmashers. When I needed like 80 xp I went to 59.57 killed a boar leveled and and went straight to the place mentioned as "right under the G of Gol'Bolar immediately west of the Q in Quarry" and Ban ran right into him abdanoned my Icy bear and (after killing a few leopards prowling around him first) and then tamed him it was cake no waiting or camping..

ETA:: Had him 2 days and with his help leveled 6 times in just two days (I am joe nobody no special gaming skill).. He is a GREAT tank and his health is AWESOME he also eats ANYTHING! Fish, frogs, bread, cheese, spiders (well legs and such lol), clams, fruit, fungus ANYTHING. He is perfect for the classic noob hunter!

Bajrn good pet yes amazing at taking hits i ve had him for ages and he never died once BUT hes slow i mean really slow compared to a cat but ive tamed a cat and bjarn and trust me apart from his speed he ok he really the best aggro taking pet i ve even so its a problem speed vs indurance.

Pay attention who want to find Bjarn.

It's easy, make a mocro with the text "/target Bjarn" and walk in it's area (the first map image of this page), you will target him when it is near you.

You will find Bjarn easily in the morning

I am a dwarf hunter. I was lvl 13 when I got Bjarn with this method. My server is The Forgotten Coast. ;D

Ok. I was walking around with my new Snow Leopard. And then BAM, I saw Bjarn! I instantly abandoned Leopard (since I'm going for Ghost Sabre in the future). Waited for the other animals to go away.. then tamed. Not too hard, I was left with 30% of HP. (Well, a Snow Leopard was attacking me also.) So then I abandoned my old Mangeclaw that was in, and now she's my faithful new pet.

YAY i finally got him. it took me at least 2hrs to get jsut to dun morogh... but it was worth it. i found Bjarn at 58,61 i died the first time but suceeded the second time :) by the way im horde :):):):) im so happy i cant believe only ally has it tho :(

Did it just today, with a level 12 Night Elf hunter.
I did a macro with the command "/target Bjarn" .
Then, when I passed the Mine coming from Loch Modan, i walked into the snowy field and keep walking to the areas shown in the pics. While walking, i kept spamming the macro. Once i targeted the Bear, it was quite simple. I died the first time (he was at 2% of health :-I), but the second time i just used concussive shot and than i Tamed him.
He has claw rank 2. It's great because he eats everything, that gives no problem to find the food to feed it :-).
VERY recomended to all the ones who think to play in solo, not so great at dps but it's damn though to kill and does a quite large amount of damage. Teh best Bear Pet.

I high recomend it, seriously. Every hunter should have Bjarn and Humer the pridelord as pets, they are the best.

Just captured Bjarn on my lvl. 12 Dwarf. I had a friend with a mount scout the area faster for him. He's a great tank, and very distinctive for a new hunter, with white fur and blue eyes.

Found him today, coords 59,59 deeper in than i'd seen him before, at lvl 14 he was a fairly easy tame and gave me claw 2 within minutes of 2nd feeding - great so far! (And now i can teach that to my cat :D)

I'm a lvl 12 hunter, and i spent maybe 20 min. looking for him. I dont know if this happened to any1 else, but when i had finally tamed him (29 health left), it autonamed him 'Bear'. I changed it back to Bjarn. I found him at coordinates 59,59.

I have him since im lvl 12. I named him Skorrgni. Im level 54 now and he is 54 too. Whats a great pet ! He is the best tank ! I use him when I play alone. He tank every mobs.

I have a ghost saber named Naera too. I used this cat for the instance. In instance when we have a good tank (like a warrior or pally) my role is to do DPS. My cat is perfect for that. But when we dont have a good tank, I can take Skorrgni for do the offtank!

Get him ! I recommand him strongly !

I reccomend Strider Clutchmother because she's in the rare list and the pets with unique looks list. Shes a great tank she hits slow but does good damage.

I found this baby with my lvl 13 bloodelf.
i know its kinda silly but i like taming pets in earleir levels that no hordes have.

anyways i found him where the map told and luckily i got him in first try.

i was soo happy i named him Lambchop.

I had just gotten WoW and was playing my first character, a dwarf hunter. Did the pet training quests, was running around at level 12, and found Bjarn, tamed him, and still have him on that hunter, who is a lvl 46 now. He's named Bjorn, now. :D

I found Bjarn at 7:50 pm central states time. I was grinding lvling herbalism and my lvl 64 Winterspring Pridestalker was on aggressive. Saw his body when I wasn't paying attention. :P

I was a level 12 Tauren hunter when i heard of this mob... so I set out across the Alliance-poluted land with Aspect of the Monkey in full effect. Took every ounce of strength in my being and several deaths in the tunnels of Dun-whatever-the-hell, but I persavered. When I was finally in the area I went right to him (HE WAS THERE... WOOT), tamed him, and hearthed back. After the endevour I had mixed feeling about the guy... sure he was a good tank, but worht all that? Nah! If you're Horde and you want a big happy hard on when you pull out a weird pet at that level I'm sure this is right up your alley... but if you want a really good pet at a small percentage of the hassle, choose the Rake. Oh yeah, if you're alliance... go screw yourself! Just kiddin', you can't help it.

no he does not spawn every thirty mins more like every few hours... anyway i feel like a friggin ballah right now because i tamed him with my level 12 TROLL hunter... made my way over to dun morogh once i got my taming skill and tamed him, hes a great pet, not very good dmg my cat does like 2x as much but thats to be expected... i still use him at level 20 and i probably wont get rid of him for a while, gonna drop my cheetah and pick up humar the pridelord at 23 so it should be fun, happy huntings

ok for all those who really have not spent the time to really think about this Bjarn is a RARE mob which means in the game he drops better than average lootz that is it!

Both Bjarn and Mangeclaw are polar bears ANd have the Same ablilities BUT you can get Mangeclaw and kill Bjarn for that ever so precious LOOT

So I found him and tamed him. I'm level 16 Orc and needed all 16 of those levels to do it, lol. I had a LV32 hunter buddy show me how to get there. By the time we got in the area, everything that I had was 0 condition. I guess I am lucky. I found him in the first 5 min of looking. Tamed him (no armor) with just under 1/4 of my life left. Then hearthed back home.
Now I have The Rake and him both to 13. Want to get them on par with me ASAP!

bjarn location cords..is 55.59 just stand next to the tree stump and look north on your minimap also there is a fallen tree on the ground their also, and just wait for him to spawn.it may tak a while i waited for almost 24 hours also some one said it spawns in 30 min,it may for some but it did not for me i was waiting for him from 1 am till 6 am and he never showed up then i popped in 3 times the next day no luck then around 7pm that night i logged on and bjarn was walking around and i did not waste any time to train him as my pet. just be patient he will show up sooner or later just have to wait it out....

I dunno whats up with your guys. This mob spawns like once per 30min or so. I missed him once, some lvl33 warrior killed him. Ran around the area for 30min, and tamed him. Done.

Level 12 named ELITE bear, uses standard bear model with polar bear skin ie, looks just like Mangeclaw. Confirmed wanders in the map spot marked. Uses Iceclaw attack but didn't see him use the "Ravage" interrupt attack like Mangeclaw.

Bjarn is way easier to get, dunno why anyway would say mangeclaw was easier. i probably died 8 times agaisnt mangeclaw all because of his ravage, when i gave up on mangeclaw, i went for bjarn, first shot and i got him, didnt even need a frost trap.

woot.. i tamed him, sad though my lvl 16 dwarf hunter died 3 times doing that mad me cry but finally got it though well worth it though. lvl 12 elite pet? not bad to have at such a lower level. woot. i just got him but 10 mins after plenty of newbs kept asking where i got him.....theyll have to figure that out how i did..

Two days, two days i waited for him to spawn with
My 25 Troll Hunter.
I was finally taming him when...
A 12 Dwarf Warrior named Dethstalker (couldn't even spell death right...) killed him.
TWO DAYS!
And then this little a-hole laughs at me.
He killed it just to be an a%$.
He saw i was taming it...
So rude.

I did, however, get revenge.
I dueled Him with pvp on and let Him
win, when He won He attacked Me again turning
pvp on... He didn't know it was on though.
So needless to say i stuck My spear in His head.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh revenge is so sweet.

Ive killed this guy on my main NE hunter a few times and beast lored him and saw he was pretty awsome so i made a dwarf hunter (elmerfudd) and got it,hes still only lvl 12 but the bear soloed hogger while i took a few gnolls he is the most badass bear wish i woulda tamed him on my first hunter. if ur thinking on making a hunter bjarn is the best eats anything and is super pwntastic ;}

Nearly two years ago, I started playing WoW on Thorium Brotherhood(NA), Hordeside. At level 19, I traveled from the Barrens to Dun Morogh, specifically to tame this bear. Fast forward two years. I'm still rollin' on my main, Grubgrabber, with Bjarn in tow.

Folks may say bears are substandard pets, but who cares? I've been runnin' with this guy for two years, and I couldn't be happier.

I've killed Bjarn numerous times while on my way to collect Earthroot in the mines to the east. i had no idea he was rare. Next time, I'll leave him for a lower level to kill!

Anyone hae any idea on a spawn time? Seems quite slow.

I was gonna go tame him, but since he was level 12 and I was about 5% XP away from 12 I ran off to level really quickly on some of the nearby monsters and when I came back 30 seconds later someone had killed him.

Now I've been waiting about 2 hours for him to respawn, still nothing.

Just wanted to let everyone no that there is absolutely no difference in BJARN and MANGECLAW or any other bear.

Bjarn is lvl 12 and roams around while Mangeclaw is 11 and will be found in the same place everytime. also he is the target of a quest.

i trained both up to lvl 15 checked stats and they are exactly the same. also they look exactly the same and share the same abilities.

i trained a black bear up to 17 with mangeclaw and everything again was exactly the same.. only difference is the looks =\ kinda sad no?

some advice: if u cant find bjarn just walk the extra mile and do the quest for mangeclaw, then tame him.. i found it to be much easier.

Get mangeclaw instead. They've both identical stats, and Mange is way easier to get ahold of.

Personally I have always choosen this pet as my own for all my hunters. I am thinking of taking on a cat but man, this all white bear that eats everything is great! High damage and high healthpoints. Very slow spawn, so hopefully you can get to him in Dun Morogh fast enough before someone else tames him. I wanted 6 hours for him once. Lvl 12 elite. Way better then mangleclaw. lvl 11. Also he is closer then mangleclaw

I saw this guy in Open Beta and it was my goal to kill him. Can't remember what I got but I'll kill him again today when I hit 11 or 12.

I just tamed him on Myzrael at Level 14. So excited! This is in WOW Classic. It's 11:35 am server time at 59.04, 58.46 and I just walked up on him after looking at the map and where he might spawn. I spent maybe 5 mins looking for him. What luck!

just tamed him today on my level 14 Tauren!
Swam from Hillsbrad to Menethil, then from Menethil I swam west till I was in a part of the ocean that was zoned as Dun Morogh drowned myself and rezzed at the spirit healer and ran off looking for this CUTIE!
I found the route of the "Wetlands run skip" on reddit and modified it slightly by adding in just some more swimming!
