I upgraded to this from my Illusionary Rod. If I'd taken a gander at what it looked like before I disenchanted the old staff, I might've just forgone the increase in stats and DPS.

It looks like a twig.
Not an especially majestic or menacing twig, either.

with the changes to shaman in wotlk, this is now a very viable 2h enhancement 49 twink weapon. with a top end and speed comparable to executioner's cleaver, plus the 12 stam and 24 intelleect, which if appropriately talented, equates to 26 AP.

This is the staff currently used by the infamous warlock Kralnor of Ner'zhul US. Kralnor can be seen in this screenshot wielding the staff while killing alliance in the Ring of Trials.

Get Scepter of Celebras from the quest in Maraudon. It's the best staff at its levels for a while

It used to be non-equipable, but now you can and it has imba stats

This item is just rubbish.
The Dager of the Monastery together with the Quest-reward is even a little bit better.
This one has stats, but nothing else. And it is ugly...

OK, I just picked this staff up from the quest but have this one alread . Which would you keep? Is it worth getting the other disenchanted and selling the shards on the AH?

That staff is ugly as hell I got it with lv 48. But the stats are very good...and the quests you need to do are quite simple

this looks just like the staff from wc. ive had that one since lvl 21 and now im lvl 33 =( its really starting to piss me off.

I guess that depends. As an arcane mage, not only do I need lots and lots of mana, but Int translates directly to damage. So for me, it's not only +24 Int, but +6 spell damage as well. It's not much but it all adds up. Sure, I could buy the Brightwood staff and be better overall, but this didn't cost me 650g. I can take 150g instead, drop a Enchant 2H Weapon - Major Intellect and I rocks hard.

Definaly worth it for me as I got to run around collecting decent Xp and Darkspear faction, plenty of Sungrass and Herbalism points, and a lot of leather. Bonus all around.

Killing all those Hippo's did get a little tedious, though.
