This is a remarkably good sword for the level, but even so, be careful about price gauging at the Auction House. Personally, I wouldn't pay more than 15-20 gold tops on a sword of this calliber (which will serve you well into the early 20s, especially for Paladins), but given its rarity and the inability to really camp for it, it is subject to tremendous market volatility.

in other words its not too common to find it and if you do your pretty lucky its not the best 19 twink weapon but certainly not the worst.......rogues are bout the only twinks that use swords....hunter twinks would use staves,pally and warrior twinks would use 2h axes or 2h swords,druid and shammy staves i would think....and i think rogues should look at these...https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=2256 Skeletal Club which is just a bit lower then shadowfang but i think id rather use it then waste 225g on 1 sword....and in the one hand slot they should use Cruel Barb https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=5191...with +15 agility or lifestealing or maybe fiery on both of them.

The name of this sword is possibly a reference to the protectors of the city of Ankh-Morpork in a series of books written by Terry Pratchett. The members of 'The Night Watch' carry a shortsword, a pike, and a crossbow. Just a little explanation to an okay sword.

I'm making a flag running set for my 19 rogue, so I looked at all the items that could be held in his hands and the amount of stamina on them. The highest was Dawnblade with +5, but that's a quest reward so you can only have one of them. And if you're alliance, you can't get it at all. The second highest was this one with +4. If I can't find this on the AH for a decent price, I'll pick up one of the several that exist with +3. Since none of them have any defensive stats, I'm gonna pick up the one with the highest DPS: the easily obtainable Butcher's Slicer.

I used this sword for a very long time. It's actually pretty lame how long I used it. I have a warrior. I got it as a drop of level 15 in Westfall. I used it until level 27. Yeah, thats bad, I know. But all the swords I was getting as drops were horrible, and I was also using it in tandem with the Dark Water Talwar (Dual-Wielding). It was surprisingly powerful in my offhand, hitting for 35 damage consistently, and crits for about 75. Finally replaced it with another sword, but it was great while it lasted, and was a great offhand sword.

Caster twinks like this. They get 30 spell damage on it and use the Furlbog medecine pouch in offhand. The reason they chose this is the stam, doesn't look like much but it's more than others. Otherwise, I wouldn't use this sword.

I am working on a max stat HP/mana hunter as stated above for horde I would get the 5 stam dagger, but for alliance this is my only option

So clearly if I am to go 1H I need to beat the stats of a Twisted Chanter's Staff (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=890)

In the end I have this sword with 22 int MH, and the Furbolg Medicine Pouch OH (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=16768)

The other day, a lowbie in our RP guild on Sha'tar EU asked for this sword...IC.
But he asked for it and he said it cost 150g, and it only cost 50.
He was a level 20 paladin.
So the next day, I went out to the AH and bought it "for RP", and walked straight up to him and started bragging about it.
Just to make his little nub head x-plode.
Because I am lvl40.
And it looks terrible.
I now have a very warm glow about me.
Aren't I a SOB?

*blink* Just sold for 48g on Shadow Council server - I couldn't believe it was that high, but the other two listed were a couple gold higher. We're an RP server, and it is a niiiice looking sword... maybe that's what's driving the price up?

Either way, nice easy gold for me. ;)

This is only good until level 19....You can get a 15% drop thats better than this...it is called Cruel Barb even though this sword is cool but if you pick it up you should just sell this and get a beter chance with cruel barb..... just a little heads up on people try to get their hands on this to wield.

just ran 2 friends threw DM, pulled the whole boat, and let them loot, and it popped up. my friend had it, so i tricked him into giving it to me, and i either plan on using it on my twink, or selling it for 35g

I was grinding on my priest and got this off the first Blackrock Orc I killed in redridge. Couldn't believe it at first. I have one on my lvl 18 rogue. Quite nice with a fiery enchant lol. Saving this one for my warrior. :)

Ironpatch Blade has the same DPS, same level requirement, and is also a world drop.

However, Ironpatch has +4 Str and +2 Sta

Just sold one for 250g on Aggramar server, within a few hours of putting it on the AH. This is a great twink item, with no other 1H weapon under lvl 20 having so much Stamina. It is a very rare drop and unfarmable. People are always looking for it and will snap it up, at least on a server with lots of twinks. IMO the average sell price listed here is way too low b/c people just don't know what it's worth and underprice it.

This thing is overpriced, like many other "blue items" In the AH. People see blue and go crazy with prices no matter what the stats are on the weapon.

i got lucky once on a dm run, AND cruel barb dropped for my lvl 18 rogue AND this one dropped of one of the goblins to the side of the cavern with the ship and i won the roll ^^
