Most miss this trinket completely while levelling, being either too low or too high to see the quest available.

It starts with Sweet Amber (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=48) which can be obtained at level 40. Good experience and money, though you'd best be prepared to travel.

Yes. Be prepared. You are picking up seemingly trivial objects in the nastiest places. The sycamore will have you fighting dozens of hippogriffs. Be aware!

Okay, this trinket is WIN. It can be used in neutral towns on the opposing faction, and the guards won't agro. I kill lvl 1 Horde using the x-faction AH's all the time. I also use it on those annoying rogues that run around sapping people. The cooldown is a bit long, but it's definitely worth the run around the world to get it.

Classes with no AOE capabilities, such as Shadow Priests, may want to keep this handy for a good bit. Several mob types summon multiple very low hitpoint mobs either as part of their normal attack, or as a quest related event (Silithid Swarmers, those tree things in Terokkar, etc...) and this can prove very handy in those situations.

i found it farming around Thunder Bluff, elite lions , "The Rake" is their name. very small drop rate but fun and easy at high level.

i use it as finnishing move in duels whenever i can. is damn funny to see them runing away when u begin to spit fire. >:)

Well worth the hastle of the quest chain, still use it on my 55 Worrior, as well as the fire damage and getting you drunk the trinket will also drop the targeted enemy by one level which can make all the difference in an area with higher mobs.

In 3.0.2, it seems you can no longer use this without a hostile target. Bummer, this pretty much defeats the point of me keeping this : /

Its good cos it doesnt require channeling (meaning u can hav this active while u r fighting normally) so really wat it does is add 50 dps 4 5 secs and its fire dmg so armor dont get in the way :D

This seems like a useless trinket, knowing that you have to travel all over the place, with no instruction on where to go.

The effect can crit. I just got it and the first time I used it, the damage was 83. (+67%).

About the comments relating to targeting, try Smokey's Lighter. It doesn't need a target and has the same visual.

Although the item doesn't list the effect, when used the trinket casts "Breath of Fire" and makes you drunk. 30 Min. cooldown.

"Breath of Fire" is like three to five quick nukes for 50-53 damage from what ive seen

You can use it in combat. What else would you use it for?
You get tipsy from it, and it produces a flame quite like inferno from Diablo II.
It is worth your time to do the quests.

Regardless of the item, the quest is worth a ton of XP and gold. Well worth it to have the quest and complete it as you are on your normal hunting routes.

I finished the last quarter of lvl 46 doing this quest.

BTW, there's a 30 sec timer from when you equip to when you use. Dunno if this is just a normal trinket timer as this is my first. :)

ahh thıs ıtem ıs so great ıv had ıt sınce lvl40 and ım not never gonna gıve up for ıt hıhıhı ıt doesnt make so much dmg ıt blasts 5 tımes every 1 sec but ıt can crıt. and usually one of these 5 blasts ıs crıtıcal anyway ıt looks cool :P every1 ıs lıke wtf when they see a pally blowıng fıre around the mobs heh quest starts ın westfall at the mountaıns just behınd moonbrook ıts the most annoyıng quest EVER! but ıts worth ıt whıtout cosmos thıs quest ıs nearly ımbossıble to do coz u need to check the cords. from thott. quest name ıs SWEET AMBER doesnt that sound sexy ? xD so ı say GET BOOTFLASK AND GET DRUNK ! wheee.. I enjoyed this string. Yes, it took me all over the place, from Stranglethorn to Hinterlands, to Swamp of Sorrows to Tanaris to Feralas to Searing Gorge. I counted up almost 20k worth of xp and more than 5 gold. Not to mention a very cool item just for "hey, I can beltch fire!"

I started and finished this quest at 42. The only part I did not solo was Feralas, as a couple guildmates were already there and offered help. Searing Gorge was hair-raising at 42. I stealthed the whole time I was there, and I did not blink at all. No problems, though. Found the Oak without any problems. I got 3500, 4000, 4500, 5600 xp and 1g 25s for each step.

This quest is worth it as early as you can take it.

When you use it you get drunk and breath fire. Your don't need to be much higher than the level you get the quest to complete all the parts just steer clear of all the mobs you can. This is a sweet item and looks really cool combined with fulrborg form or moonkin form.

this thing is so cool, you will get puzzled replies when you start breathing fire.......and I wonder why? Maybe it's because nobody ever thinks about going back to the guy that gives this quest when you're higher level. Heck I didn't even know about this until i was browsing trinkets around my level range on this site........

i think this is a pretty good item to have for a melee based toon. I am a rogue, and i dont get any AoE at my level (or ever if i remember correctly) and this, while does have that 30 min cooldown, still makes me happy, and gets the job done.

BTW, it does work for druid. My Bear now breathes fire. It's nice item for tanking on multiple mobs when used along with swipe.

Cool thing this trinket.. Every time im in BB or Gadget, I line up a bunch of horde standing together and let it rip... Then watch the reactions... They usually run and wonder wtf happened, and the sweetest thing.. It doesnt count as an attack, so the guards wont touch you. lol! Doesn't do much damage, but good for a laugh.

Can also be used when druid morphed... Behold! The fire breathing cat!

This plus Cloak of Fire + Helm of Fire? And any other similar items - unsure on cooldowns though - would be fun if you could time it and do mass fire attacks as a melee class.

I love this thing already - the minute i got it i tested it on 2 nearby Defias. Aaaandd they got firebreathed to death. it was sweet.

I did this quest at 42. Soloed the almost the whole thing except the pool, since I was already with a group (there were 2 of us) grinding on the naga and happened on the pool. I also got a guide to the Sycamore Branch as I ran into someone already in the area, so I looted and took off. Hinterlands, Tanaris and Swamp fo Sorrows, just pulled the mobs one by one and finished them off. As for Charred Oak, at 42, I just held my breath and kept my eyes glued to the screen as I stealthed through to the tree, hearthed out.

XP and worth ever minute of weary travel.

I love it, just for the novelty. The flame breath is not worth that much in the heat of battle. Dragon breath chilie is better by far. But it is a must have for gatherings.

this is the best quest chain in the game so far, speaking at lvl 47 here. Did it at 41 with another 41 rogue for company.
4.5g in cash.
22,000 xp (or so)
And the trinket. Which actually makes me laugh out loud everytime i use it.
Didn't have a key to SG, at the time, so had a hike thru the mountains. And contrary to posted advice, you can pull the non- casting trolls round the Hinterlands sack if you're careful.
Do this quest, you won't regret it.

The sack in the hinterlands is abit easier if you come in the back door. You can actually climb up a hill and over the wall right next to the sack, and only have to deal with the summoner and the Sadist. If you're careful, you should be able to do them seperate with no aggro (I wasn't careful). The ruins are full of Mithril, though, so you may want to go through anyway.

I did the whole thing at lvl 40 as a warlock, except the kill the tree and get his branch part, because I lvled whilst fighting my way to him. This quest is not that hard with a 'lock, just send in your void to die whilst you get the stuff.

actually disliked the whole series

it required me to go halfway across the world, buy things at AH and visit zones just for one thing - but OK i guess, apart from the crappy reward (gonna sell it as soon as I get it - FINALLY done with the quest!)... but the xp's nice, I guess... :/ just didn't like it.

Awesome effect, horrible cooldown. A half hour? What a joke. Ten minutes would be much more reasonable. When you can do twice the damage every five minutes with say, Ramstein's Lightning Bolts, why even bother? (and before anyone says this is a novelty item, you have to go through a long, annoying quest series to get it, so it's not unreasonable to ask that it doesn't suck).

those lightning bolts require like lvl58+ to get, as you must run through strat, this you can get at like 48 or something. half an hour might be a long cooldown, but for us non engineers with next to no trinkets, especially before raid zones, this is nice trinket. i thought this was quested at lvl 55 or something, but it can be started in 40s? im going to quest it asap for my new warlock, who isnt engineer.

just soloed out this entire chain at 44, was breeze as warlock. the hardest part was getting the sack in hinterlands, took few trys as all 4 mobs aggro if you try to grab it, and there is misleading post on here that got me killed once. it says they dont summon the demon untill they are weak, they WILL summon it seconds after they aggro, making it 6 mobs. but i still managed to get it without fighting any of them, by distracting them with my void and having my character stripped to avoid gear dmg on death. there also isnt an elite naga guarding pool on first part, several posts say there is, but there isnt, i was thinking there was an entire area of elites, or at least an elite guarding pool, when there actualy are no elites there at all, just a bunch of normal mobs. my way of getting it, strip, suicide run to fountain, revive, loot water. stripped character and no gear dmg. i suicide ran like that to get almost every drop in the chain, with pet distraction if drop is guarded. only time i even killed something in this chain was for tree drop. but this is great chain, got about 25% of my lvl(lvl44) just for running through it, and he gives you 1g 25s after every step, which is some of the easiest money id made before. the trinket itself is great, for us non engineers. its basically a version of the dragon gun with longer reuse for non engineers, or gnomish engineers. goblin engineers could also get it anyway and have 2 flame throwers instead of 1.

as for the drunken side effect, im hardly noticing, my screen just slides a little bit when moving. if you arent hunter or warlock, you wont be able to do this quest alone untill maybe 47 or 48, but if you have friend to run through chain with you, the entire thing can be done at low lvl. it says attainable at lvl40 on first part of the chain.

I have gotten this trinket every time I get at 40ish- its one I can do during dishwashing time get on FP,wash, do little bit of killing, grab item, FP, wash, etc. And it lights up new areas on my map:)

Thought I would add, seeing how no one else has mentioned it yet, you can continue to use spells and abilities as normal while you're breathing fire, it is not a channeled effect (which would have been very weak if that was the case).

So: Your normal damage + 50 Fire damage every 1 sec for 5 sec

It could be fun to notice that the "Gets you quite drunk too!" triggers the effect 烈性酒精

Doesn't generate any threat for some reason, so go with Ramstein's Lightning Bolts if you want some AoE threat generation.
