This is a really nice axe for twink hunters... not GREAT but it's one of the better ones.

I find this axe to be very cool. The look is'n like alot of the axes at this lvl. The str and spir are a nice touch too. ppl think spir is a 'turn-off' for players, but faster life/mana regen is always helpful. hunters, warriors, pallies, and shammies once they got 11 pts in enhancement, can all benefit from this some how....

this axe is sweet!, the +str is great and with a +7 dmg enchant i hit tones on my twink hunter, good speed if you get slowed down and cant rely on your range, i see a lot of warriors running around with it aswell :S

To clarify a few mistakes on the axes that Irikan mentioned...

*Night Reaver (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=1318)* is pretty clearly a melee axe... not much use for a hunter, considering most twink hunters use their bow much more than their melee weapon.

*Guillotine Axe (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=2807)* -note this is a main hand, meaning it's a one hander- does have fair stats for any melee / ranged class. (Strength and agility, which are the best for hunters, rogues, enchancement shamans, and warriors imo) However... this, as stated before, is a one hand axe, and due to the fact that hunters cannot dual wield until level 20, this is not much use for a twink.

Lastly, *Taskmasters Axe (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=5194)*, though it is reasonably simple to farm, has generally no practical stats for hunters... Spirit is useless unless you're serious about mana and health regeneration. The stamina is nice, but it lacks stats that would make the hunter stronger.

Sorry Irikan.

In my humble opinion, I would go for Crescent Staff - Horde only; sorry Alliance ! (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=6505) or Twisted Chanters Staff (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=890)... These would be ideal to have 25 agility put on them (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/spell=27837)... You may ask, "Why would a twink hunter want a staff", and this is because generally twink hunters would aim for stats over melee capability for their weapon. Not to mention, it is fun to beat down people with a staff =)

Of course, this axe is nice too. I beleive it's one of the lowest level item with crit rating (as of 2.3). Equipping this thing should get you a fair slice of crit chance. But as shoombabi stated:

"Hunters are going to be going for AGI, not STR."

This is totally correct. Strength applies to melee attack power while agility applies to ranged attack power.

my question is does this have any value on the market for twinks?
i myself have all my twinks with top gear and have no use and happened to pick this up just doing a routine check for lagore the lasher for his belt. it looks nice 18 AP and around 2.63 crit at 19 but is the dmg really that good for a twink to even consider buying? or would this purely be a leveling weapon?

Decided it was time to do the quest for my LW to be able to make the deviate scale belt (at lvl 44) so went to WC to take care of that. Chose to do this at the time to make the belt for my enhance shammy i'm lvl'n. Decided to look at what all was BoE from there since i knew at least the gloves of the fang were and noticed this axe (yeah Str isn't the best enhance stat but hey that's still 9 ap and a decent amount of crit at that level). Checked wowhead to see exactly where he was and got all the details about him being rare and also being outside. Walked back out of the instance just to check around and there he was a few paces opposite the instance portal. This dropped first and only kill. Can't ask for much more luck than that!

I came across this guy by accident while farming for deviate scales with my level 60 druid. He does seem to be a rare spawn as I hadn't come across him before that. He dropped the blue axe Boahn's Fang. I found him Southwest of the instance entrance in the Cavern of Mists.

No, he's an elf druid.

I was also in WC to find some Perfect Deviate Scales with my 49 warrior and saw him there for the first time, he dropped the axe.

Found him in the eastern part of Cavern of Mists.
That's before you enter the portal.

One day later I found Boahn again, this time he was on the southern part of Cavern of Mists, but he only dropped a green item: Brambleweed Leggings.

But I will try again to find him, nice short mission for the quiet hours of the night.

I sold the axe I found yesterday for 9G at AH today.

Well you could, but a lot of high levels are too lazy to run deadmines all the way through for a chance to get the hammer, they'd rather just buy it off the AH for like 50g or whatever, its not really a big deal to them if they're building a twink,but yeah, smites hammer is better.

also, hunters cant use 2h mace.

jus rolling through WC looking for Kingsblood and BAM! found him right before the instance on accident! killed him and got the axe, sold it for 70g easy. He spawned in a blueish light for me. to the left of the instance door, you can see it from there

at the PvP realm sylvanas where i play, it was 8g 33s buyout once. Too bad i didn't have money at that time, because it sure got some great damage and all =(

I was on my 35 hunter farming gold to get my lvl 40 mount in 5 lvls i didnt know i would see him because i was just farming gold and i atked a rapotr right next to him. My pet Aggroed him. so i killed him. When I looted him i picked up the axe.

The spawn isnt common, he is rare..

he respawns every 24 hours or after a server restart

Yep - The blue axe is dropped by him

Also dropped in the same cave is Serpents Kiss - Trigore the lasher drops it.. Its blue 1h nice speed and damage

Edit: I found him again finally. He was a bit different position then i usually find him, but you can still track him if you are standing on the rocks in WC outside the instance

yeah i run the first boss on my shaman 24 for the gloves of the fang anyway i have had him 4 times . i got 2 of legs and two of his axes i get the 5+ weapon damage( impact ), i gave one to my hunter and sold the other for 22g. he's always there on my sever.

OK I need some people to do these calculations for me cos Im lazy and tired. I have an axe 11.9 DPS 3.60 Speed with +3 Wep damage enchant of the bear, and I have this, with rockbiter 2 which will do more damage of an average fight of 10 seconds. This is just auto attack no shocks or anything. Both have rockbiter 2 and I might get a damage enchant on the Boahn's Fang. Please post back.!

I had my DK there to pick up the deviate patterns for my alt LW. Found him yesterday hiding in the bushes next to the lake on the opposite side from the instance. Ran quest to kill 7ea of 4 types of deviates, to get the blue pattern. Besides the usual assortment of greens and BOPs, got (2) Gloves of the Fang.

Update: Boahn's Fang sells for 119G on my server, guess I'll lvl a shammy later :)

Boahn is a rare spawn on an 8-Hour respawn timer outside of the Wailing Caverns zone portal (Patrols the longer path down.) He looks like an ordinary Druid of the Fang.

I did RFC using this weapon at lvl 15 on my enhancement shaman. With a combination of Rockbiter weapon, Strength of earth totem, earth shock(flame shock when fighting the elementals), the orc racial Blood fury, and fire nova totem I did extremely well on the dps charts. At the end of the instance i was doing 49% of my teams damage, which is really good.
