If it makes you warriors feel any better at all, the ring is worthless to a hunter in 245s too. Between the hit and loss in Armor Penetration, only the un-geared should consider using this.

There's a blue post quoted in MMO-Champion http://blue.mmo-champion.com/28/21726119617-ashen-verdicit-rep.html explaining that it's all about some technical issue limiting the quest rewards to 4.

This has made, like rokkitan mentioned above, that since vanilla wow the quested rep rings have been limited to 4 and that the physical dps has been usually getting AGI as it is the sole stat that is useful for all physical dps classes.

One can think on a million ways to go around this but it seems that the choice of maintaining quest reward status on these (and thus allowing only one type of these rings per player) is greater than the fact that a STR based dps will probably continue using their STR rings no matter what (mileage can vary ofc).

I have tested this as a paladin dps: comparing the ashen band of greater vengeance versus bloodshed band and ring of violent temperament it lowers dps about 500 or so.

It sort of does, apparently, in a way. There is a Blue post on record somewhere saying that there are some very old technical limitations that prevented more than four rewards being offered for "a quest of this sort" (by which I think they mean the kind of upgradable reward, choose-a-path quest series). Additional rewards might be added in the eventual future, but don't hold your breath.

I believe the implication was that these limitations long overdue for removal.

Just wondering if the following is possible:
Considering the item is unique, can we (rogues/hunters) once we reach the honored standing with the faction purchase the second ring Ashen Band of Greater Vengeance and then purchasing again the friendly version ring as well Ashen Band of Vengeance ? I know the tool tip on the ring says Unique instead of Unique-Equipped but I don't know the implications of it.

I love how hunters would roll on 2hs with agi on it and think it was justified using it for a stat stick, then think its unfair and whine and QQ about the melee getting a weapon that has higher weapon dps, which is the biggest dps increasing factor for them,whereas a plate dps is gona use that as his main weapon for release and early LK content. karma sucks
