Notice the "/breath" emote tells your target to take a deep breath (says you take a deep breath with no target) if you time it right your chat log might just look like this:

/breath
You tell Onyxian Whelpling to take a deep breath.
Onyxian Whelpling take a deep breath...

And watch the smoke puff.

If anyone is wondering what the deadline is for collecting your whelpling, the answer is provided via this post from Bornakk on the WoW forums:

Any character that logs into the game between now and Sunday, December 6 at 11:59 p.m. (realm time) will receive their very own Onyxian Whelpling non-combat pet

Funny thing about this pet. If you have him out in Onyxia's Lair or even outside Onyxia's Lair, the Deep Breath emote sets off the DBM warning for Onyxia's Deep Breath if you're running r2049 or older. I haven't had a chance to check since I updated.

aparantly i was wrong as fantom said, i was posting this same comment on some pets that really had been changed. and have probably just glitched when looking at this pet

so.. if its a whelp when it hatches what is it when its a whelpling? premature hatching? OR SECRET CHINESE PLOT?

I just ran a test with mine and unlike some other flying pets this one does NOT fly with you when you get on your flying mount, a little disappointing.
