24.9.2010 @ 3.3.5, Brewfest: This weapon is still currently the highest level BoE melee weapon with an item level above 200 in the game, and it still drops in the 2010 Brewfest. There are two higher level BoE ranged weapons in the game, the 梦魇终结者 and 洛万的银弹步枪.

Original post: So far, this is the only BoE weapon in the game with an item level above 200.

There is also an upgraded version of this item, the , which unlike it's earlier version did not get the title of the highest item level BoE epic weapon, or the only one above a certain level, when it was introduced.

Seems like everyone who can wear 1h maces is gonna get some flashy weapon upgrade soon.
Including alts that are not even 80 yet.
And DK's that want to finally try out &*!@ing dual wield but haven't had any decent 1h's.

Not that Coren Direbrew already was farmed to hell enough... he should prepare for a rough time from now on.

Is it just me, or is this weapon somewhat underbudgeted for it's listed level? Compared to Aledar's Battlestar you gain 1 agi, 7sta and 8.2 dps. You lose 7 AP. You get 27 haste and 29 crit instead of 17 hit 31 arp. Plus this one has no socket.
Unless you are hitcapped, it seems like a sidegrade at best, despite the 7 ilvls.

Not unique.... so could duel wield.

Also since it's only available during brewfest i'd imagine that when the initial high stocks on the AH run out the price of this mace would go up a lot... so maybe worth holding onto it if you are lucky enough to get 1.

Just bought one for 2.1k gold, then checked ah and there were 2 for 1.5k each... feeling I should buy up any that's cheap and sell them after the brewfest. It's a pretty good mace any day of the week!

It should be noted that several servers have not caught onto the value of this item. It would be prudent for people to purchase lower priced tankards while they are cheap (say 2k-4k gold) and resell them after the event. Prices are set by supply (based on drop rate and number of people running it), and demand (based on classes that can use it and by perceived value).

Current supply is high: on high population servers, the number of runs per day probably is in the high hundreds to low thousands. Even with a low drop rate, expect to see quite a few of these on the AH, as people attempt to make quick cash off a need roll in a PUG. Competition to sell (depending heavily the server in question) will drive prices lower than they would normally be.

Current perceived value is low: it looks great to some people but quite awful to others. The high supply and name can also make it appear less awesome than it is. Also, some people haven't made the connection to the stats on this and the stats on Calamity's Grasp, nor have known to look for it on the AH. Expect prices of the remaining BoEs shoot up to 5k-10k gold. Also remember, this item is great for: rogues, enh shaman, and PvP prot warriors looking for a situational slow 1H. Especially rogues (read: lots of alt rogues hitting 80, looking for a good weapon, and having lots of spare gold).

Not to mention that you can kill him 5 times a day, more if you find people willing to let you in depite having completed the daily for the day.

There are a couple nice tricks to get to run it more than 5 times a day.

1. Late at night, if you happen to be on and are either a tank or a healer, offer your services to a group, usually they are so tired/desperate at that point they won't mind having 1 less summon.

2. Have a mole machine - 'nuff said

3. If you are lucky enough to be a well known player on your server that has a reputation for being very good (this works pretty much exclusively for tanks) a lot of pug groups will put up with one less attempt for a tank that they don't have to worry about being bad.

4. Bribes...they really just work for anything, this included.

5. (This one takes longer but is quite popular) Get a group of 4 people, 1 tank, 1 healer, and 2 dps (one has to be a warlock, the other preferably a mage). Make sure you know all of them well and that you can easily 4 man it. Have one of your group (not the Warlock) go to trade chat and advertise the following:

"Well geared group giving away Brewfest runs absolutely free! If you have your summons available for the day, we would be interested in 4 manning it while you sit back and relax. Any piece of gear that drops is yours 100% guaranteed. However, is reserved for the group, everything else is fair game. Send a tell if interested." (Usually this just hooks in lazy people, or people who don't understand the concept of summoning him 5 times a day, and don't realize what they are missing. Also, those people are usually idiots who need the gear anyway.)

Once you get someone, have the Warlock summon the advertiser and the ~~sucker~~ client to Coren's room. 4 man Coren, give the "client" the promised loot and have the Mage port him to wherever the hell he wants to go.

**If all else fails, roll a female Night Elf and offer naked bar dancing in the Grim Guzzler for anyone who is willing to summon him**

One of the only items in game that do not have a "sheathed" animation. So when you aren't fighting or having your weapons/mug/stein out you stand with nothing but fists.

The stuff about reknown tank, or latenight offers is kinda useless. I spent alot of time last year pettanking him, roguetanking him, hell even treedruid tanking him. You don't need a tank nor a healer to do this boss.

If your guild runs 10man only, which mine does, (and you've not had luck rolling on weapons from Totc) this is the best MH mace available to mace-spec rogues ATM. Note: this tankard will not hold fluid - spin your camera angle around so you are looking through the tankard... there is no bottom!

I bought two of these for my rogue (yes, i know it's too slow for off-hand, but the DPS was ~65 higher than the weapon i had before) for 630g each. They're sweeeeet and they hit hard! :]

Bought these to try out Dual Wield Frost on my DK alt. Very much worth the money for the fun factor. Too bad, for the most part, I only get to dps in instance and raid infrequently. You can always find another DPS, but Tank are harder to come by.

If you don't plan on using this for yourself, I would hold onto it until Brewfest is over. Right now the price of this weapon is between 800 and 1,000 gold. This weapon is the best BoE weapon for many classes and puts them in a great place to enter heroics right when they hit 80. In other words, this weapon is the must-have for a fresh level 80 melee class. This demand will remain constant while the supply will drop off entirely once Brewfest is over. As an enterprising individual, I will be stocking up a few of them and drop them on the AH slowly over the next few months. I would expect the price to double and get about a 1,000 gold profit off each.

For a item with a drop rate of 645 out of 23623 meaning it is about a 1 in 37 chance of dropping,roughly. BUT i have seen it drop 3 times only doing about 8 or 9 dailies and i got it twice so 1 in 37 lol i got 3 out of 9 or 1 out of 3

it seems my orc shammy will have a hell of a time after he dings 80...can hardly w8 to whak yogg on the head with these maces, lucky me this mace droped 2 times and i won rool on both....
so its time to fill up on beer and lvl my soon to be drunk raiding shammy a bit faster...

for the beer and all the small things that i love in this game...!

and of course for Coren Direbrew for allowing us to kill him hundreds of times a day...poor npc's :)

Im loving these new tankards. And upgrade BY FAR from my Icier Barbed Spear from the Zul'drak quests. And who doesn't love the concept of a Pirate cow running around whacking everything in sight with mugs of death! A must have item for the violent German/Irish in the home. Gladfully, Im BOTH. ):3

His complete loot table:
1st time you fight him, he will drop Direbrew's Dire Brew which you can turn into Ipfelkofer Ironkeg for 40 Brewfest Prize Tokens, then..

A) Guaranteed to drop one of these epic trinkets:
-Ancient Pickled Egg.
-Brawler's Souvenir.
-Mithril Pocketwatch.
-Coren's Chromium Coaster.
-Bitter Balebrew Charm.
-Bubbling Brightbrew Charm.

B) Lucky Groups have a slight chance to finding:

this is a pretty good weapon for frost dps Dk's if your unlucky enough to not get Adestars Battlestar after 35 straight runs (like me) on heroic then i would consider it if your dps is lacking because of your weapons and its relitivly cheap, on my server there were like 7 on AH and a price war insued and i grabed one for 700g

My enhance shammie is dual wielding these now with berserker on both.
Before I spent any gold buying the second (won the first), I ran it through EnhSim first using both my Titansteel Bonecrusher plus one tankard, then two tankards. Definite improvement there with the second beer mug so I went for it.
Tested it on heroic training dummy and my dps shot up like crazy. (It was about 2250-2550 before and I hit 2750-3050 after).
I lost expertise by not equipping the bonecrusher, but have also bought a new neck which has hit, so replaced a +34 hit gem in my belt with a +34 exp one (dragon's eyes; I have JC) and have come out on top in that department, too, with two extra points.
I'm a casual player, not a regular raider so for me it was definitely the way to go.
Plus it's just plain fun. I can't wait to see if they upgrade the Headless Horseman's weapon this year for level 80. My rogue got the sword last year and wouldn't mind an upgrade :)
