Possibly from an alliance only quest. There is another version with identical stats that has a horde name.

Wierd that they wouldn't make the alliance version a mace to benefit their two classes with expertise in that.

Where does this rank in terms of WotLK pre-raid tanking weapons?

It looks pretty solid to me, and as I already have a pile of stamina I was wondering if this is a viable alternative to the Red Sword of Courage as a prot warrior?

I'm personally working on one of these along with the rsoc both are one hand. If the sword will ever drop that is.

It's just occurred to me that there's no reason not to buy this until I (hopefully) get my Red Sword at some point. It's a big upgrade over the Eternally Folded Blade I'm currently using, and as I understand it you can sell Tournament rewards back to the QMs and get your seals back.

Even if you can't, it's still an upgrade for me right now and who knows how long it'll be before I get a Red Sword of Courage anyway?

https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/compare=45076;37401 I'm not theorycrafter but from that comparsion... Keep them both. Teldrassil Protector for avoidance/effective health and Red Sword of Courage for threat gear (hit/expertise).

If you keep just one set ( which sounds wierd ), then I would keep Red Sword of Courage UNTIL I'm hit capped ( if that happens ), as I don't like parry rating that much. Ofc if you want to get defense capped (540), then ofc choice is Teldrassil Protector.

The Red Sword of Noobage (as I like to call it) isn't that difficult to get; took me about 6 runs to get.This isn't an upgrade by any stretch though; it's more of a bone thrown at those having trouble getting the RSoC to drop.

I've been waiting for quite a while for Last Laugh, or Titanguard to drop and til then am just dealing w/ the Red Sword; def. better overall stats than this stepping stone tank weapon.

Disappointing that after a filter here, this is really THE best Tank 1h option until Raid/Heroics for the Humans and Dwarves in the group.
Get those Axe skills up - there is nothing really in the same ballpark for sword or mace right out of the 80 gate.

I like this Axe. How ever I would prefer a little more hit rating. I would rather have the RSoC. But until I can get that or something better this should work just fine. Plus the dailies are a good way to make gold.

The Dps is within .2 of each other so that really not an issue. As you can see Red Sword has 1 more stam over Slayer and 15 over Axe. Str is same on lifeless and Axe and is only 4 over the Red Sword which is not gonna prove you with a great deal of block with your shield. From there they all have def and the Axe has Parry while the lifeless has dodge and the life and Red Sword have hit. All in all this Axe is very solid tanking weapon and helps you get to cap faster. The only real draw back is the lack of stam on it but what you were using for Def Gems and be switch to Stam Gems and reach that gap.

I have this DW on my death knight and I like it a lot. You loose some stamina but its not too big of a deal and its a great way to get a nice weapon before running heroics or raids (good luck on getting the sword to drop in H UP, most pugs can't make it that far.)

And for us OCD people you can have two and you don't feel weird.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but as I calculated it will take 9 days from the start of Argent Tournament to get this. This is an overview how I came to that conclusion:

Day 1: you start the tournament and earn 5 Aspirant's Seals (of which you need 15 to become a Valiant).
Day 2: you get 5 more, so 10 total Aspirant's Seals.
Day 3: you get 5 more, you have 15 Aspirant's Seals and become a Valiant. You can already to the Valiant dailies so get 5 Valiant's Seals.
Day 4: +5 = 10 Valiant's Seals
Day 5: +5 = 15 Valiant's Seals
Day 6: +5 = 20 Valiant's Seals
Day 7: +5 = 25 Valiant's Seals and you become a Champion. For becoming a Champion you receive 10 free Champion's Seals. you can start doing the Champion's dailies today, which will get you 5 more, totalling 15 Champion's Seals.
Day 8: +5 Champion's Seals from doing dailies, totalling 20.
Day 9: another +5 Champion's Seals, which gets you to 25 for this axe.

I don't think you can become a Champion before level 80 (although Wowhead is a bit confused on the level requirements for all quests, like some versions of Valiants quests requiring 78 and others 77) so it's questionable if you can start getting Champion's Seals before 80. If not, it takes 3 days at 80 if you did the others before 80 to get this.

This axe will take you 9 days of doing AT dailies from the first time you ever go to the Tournament grounds. If the drop rate on the Red Sword is accurate at 18% and you run Heroic UP everyone of those days you will have roughly an 83% chance of having seen the sword drop.

You do know that the drop rate is not cumulative for the sword.. you have an 18% chance each time you run it, not sure where you are getting an 83% chance of seeing it in 9 days.
