random world drop in Northrend

although rumors advise this to be a random world drop, the only confirmed reports thus far show it to drop from the Nascent Val'kyr in Storm Peaks.

410 Haste rating is ~12.5% faster Attack/Cast speed.
(73=2.23 2.23/73*410=12.52%)

and the procc chance is 10% of a critical strike.(click the "on Equip spell" for details)

appears to be bugged atm. I acquired it (Iam a mage) and it does not proc of spellcrits but it does proc from melee crits. A GM told me it was a known issue and they are working to resolve the issue.

My report to a gm:

I have equiped the boe trinket called "Tears of Bitter Anguish". It increases haste rating with 73 (which works) and it has a chance to increase haste rating by 410 after a critical hit.

Ive been casting 225 lightning bolts at a target dummy, of which 54 were crits. The trinket didn't proc once. Is this trinket bugged?

Haste was changed a few patches ago to apply to both melee and spells so i assume this trinket should proc on both melee and spell crits as well

Looking at the drop rate, 2 out of over 18,000 kills it is indeed a rare drop. It would amount to about 0.01% Unless you get lucky, it will be a very long grind. I wonder how much these will sell on AH....

That statement is only showing up on mmo-champion, without mentioning the source. It is NOT (yet) in any official patchnotes.

Dropped for me yesterday while doing dailies in Storm Peaks from a Nascent Val'kyr on Terenas. Sold it that morning for 3,600G. Which allowed me to buy a Signet of the Accord for 3,300G for my Prot Warrior. (Good trade-out for me imho).

Dropped off of Nascent Valkyr in Storm Peaks as of 1-11-09... As a rogue this thing is essentially equivalent to the badge items in terms of haste. Seems to be the same timer as well, 10% proc with 1 min internal cooldown. Judging by its stats id venture to guess this would field 3k-5k gold depending on the server but thats just me.

whoop just got one off the same mob whilst trying to get a polar bear mount from the dailies-bonus being its not the mob i needed to kill but it attacked me :D

I've been attempting to sell this trinket for the past 2 weeks... I've come to the conclusion... No one wants such a trinket. Some of the raiders I've been with contemplated it, and then decided to go with the meteorite whetstone which though grants a lesser effect, is a lot cheaper.

Appears blue made up their mind. The proc text is now much clearer. Now I have to go kill myself because the mage that outbid me on this equipped it immediately. At least the knowledge that he screwed himself out of 1500g is some consolation as I cry myself to sleep.

Dude, you are correct, this is not in the patch notes. Also, the notes Zushiba referenced also neglected to mention the item itself was not changed, only the tooltip.

In a chat with a GM last night, my suspicions were confirmed: the tooltip change was to clarify its trigger mechanic; the trinket and its effects have not changed. Casters should contact a GM to have this trinket unbound via item restoration (take it out of your trinket slot and clear your mailbox beforehand).

The change was undocumented by Blizzard due to the shear number of changes implemented, but MMO-Champion's testers on the PTR found the change before the patch went live.

Since this is unique, does it mean that if one drops for me and let's say I wear it or put it in the bank or put it for sale on the AH, if a second one drops (I know the chances are low, but still....) I cannot loot it? That would be a terrible waste, since they made it BoE, they should at least have made it Unique-equipped....

After the patch 3.0.8 this does still work off hunter's ranged attacks. I just equiped and tested out. Hope this helps.

Apparently there is not internal CD as seen by the spell casted from the trinket. Maybe it just hasn't been tested enough to know yet since it only procs off of critical strikes.

I wonder if its possible that this buff can stack in this case...

I did a little bit of testing on this and Meteorite Whetstone here is what I found.

The tear's internal cool-down is 50 seconds, and its up time seems to be about 15% of the time. Meaning you are getting on average 61.5 Haste ratings from the proc.

Then the Meteorite Whetstone has a 45 second internal cool-down and what seems to be about a 16% uptime. Meaning you are getting on average 71.004 haste rating from the proc.

So comparing the two

The Tears give you 134.5 Haste rating on average.

While

The Whetstone gives you on average 71.004 Haste Rating and 74 Critical Strike.

What I'm wondering is why this trinket goes for insane prices on AH. Is it REALLY that good? I mean, it sells for more than Greatness, even! (Greatness goes for 4500-5000 on my server, while this thing goes for well over 6k.)

This is probably going to cause you all to flame me until my house burns, but I found this thing while questing in storm peaks, no farming, and Im still using it to this day on my paladin. it is awesome. it almost makes up for the time some ninja stole the fiery war axe with a need roll and then logged off. when I look back on that run, I dont recall him ever saying anything.
