Well without knowing how much mana regen we will have in WotLK, it's hard to say. But right now I'd rather take a passive *permanent* 8mp5 than a chance proc. Also don't stress about overhealing, as long as you don't go oom during the fight, any overhealing is a sign of dedication in keeping the tank up, not a sign of a bad healer. The 3% extra healing to crit is just icing on the cake.

By your post it seems like you think Sheath of Light is a viable healing spec. Which it's not. Read the tooltip:

Increases your spell power by an amount equal to 30% of your attack power and your critical healing spells heal the target for 60% of the healed amount over 12 seconds.

Attack Power, how much holy gear have you seen with attack power?

Also, I read the Revitalizing Skyflare Diamond tooltip differently, I'm reading it as all crit healing increased by 3%: so 153% crit healing total (I'm still trying to work out where you got 1.5%)
Your theorycrafting is convoluted and confusing to say the least. And I don't know any decent pally who would pass up passive MP5. Passive mana regen gives a higher mana return than stacking crit.

Quite frankly, the Insightful Earthsiege Diamond seems far superior at this stage.

Think of it this way: if the overheal from this gem is wasted, it *is* wasted, no doubt about it. You gain nothing for it. You could be in a situation where you're healing your ass off, and the extra crit healing can still be wasted. It may come in handy, but it doesn't seem like there'll be a situation where the crit healing bonus will be required to save the day.

Then look ath the Insightful Earthsiege Diamond. The only time the proc is wasted is if you're at full mana. And if you're at full mana, then you're not really in a situation where you needed the extra crit healing bonus - you have so much mana you can afford to step up your normal healing routine to cover damage - but if you were at full mana when the proc went off, unless it was the very start of the fight, chances are that not much damage was coming in anyway.

Basically, the mana proc meta seems like a much more solid choice, and unless I go through some tough boss fights and continuously end up with too much surplus mana, I'll be going with it.

Yes the wording is tricky. It does not increase healing crit CHANCE by 3% which would make it amazing for all healers with procs off crits. What it does is increases a crit heal by 3% so only procs on crit heals.

As a restoration shaman in Ulduar, I'm switching to this gem.

At worst, it will increase my Ancestral Awakening numbers.
At best it'll help my LHW/RT spam.

I wish the 8mp5 was 21int or spellpower, but we can't have everything.

On the 3.2 PTR many of the gems that provide MP5 have had their stats slightly increased:

Lustrous Chalcedony: increased to +6 MP5
Dazzling Dark Jade, Energized Dark Jade, Lambent Dark Jade, Opaque Dark Jade, Sundered Dark Jade, Infused Shadow Crystal, Royal Shadow Crystal, Tenuous Shadow Crystal: increased to +3 MP5
Perfect Lustrous Chalcedony: increased to +7 MP5
Perfect Dazzling Dark Jade, Dazzling Forest Emerald, Perfect Energized Dark Jade, Energized Forest Emerald, Perfect Lambent Dark Jade, Lambent Forest Emerald, Perfect Opaque Dark Jade, Opaque Forest Emerald, Perfect Sundered Dark Jade, Sundered Forest Emerald, Perfect Infused Shadow Crystal, Perfect Royal Shadow Crystal, Perfect Tenuous Shadow Crystal: increased to +4 MP5
Lustrous Sky Sapphire: increased to +8 MP5
Revitalizing Skyflare Diamond: increased to +11 MP5

currently these gems have not have the MP5 they provide increased: Infused Twilight Opal, Royal Twilight Opal, Tenuous Twilight Opal (we will have to wait and see if a future PTR build will change the MP5 they provide to match the other rare level gems)

My spidey senses are telling me that this is a horrible Holy Paladin gem.

Mp5 is a wasted to stat to begin with, and since pallies are the king of overheals, the 3% effect is most likely going to wasted most of the time as well.

Get the +21 Intellect and 600 mana on spell cast one.

Can anyone who has tested this verify whether this grants 153% healing on crits or 154.5% healing on crits?

Just tested it with resto shaman, and imo, if mana pool and mana regen is not an issue for you, this meta comes more handy than Insightful Earthsiege Diamond in fights where there's damage peaks, like Koralon the Flame Watcher in VoA. While Insightful E.D. gives you basically mana pool + mana regen -aswell as some crit and spell power, ofc-, Revitalizing increases your healing done, what may mean the difference between a succesful raid and a wipe. Guess for it to work properly you need a high crit percentage and no mana issues at all: if you are there, then go for this meta.

Tried this with a Resto Shaman.
In raids I get around 650-700 mp5 while casting, got a 33k mana pool, 48% crit, 3,2k SP.
I never have mana problems, and this meta gem boosted my overall healing.

Recommended if you have no issues with mana.

Useful for Restoration Shamans who don't have mana issues in raids. Not only does this increase our raw healing crits but they also increase how much Ancestral Awakening and the T10 4P set bonus heal for. Worthwhile investment.

This gem is pretty nice for FoL spamming holy pala's to increase sustained heal. Also good for HL spammer's, cause with a manapool of 40k an above there are only a few fights with mana being an issue. You have to obey the double dipping nature of Glyph of Holy Light, Sacred Shield and Infusion of Light by the benefit of this gem.
