The Tier-6 gloves seem to be a bit better although the level of the Tier-6 Gloves is "only" 146 while the Gauntlets of Serpent Scales' level is 159.

Being an epic, they can fit more things to the iLevel than the iLevel of a blue.

Say you had a blue iLevel 115, an epic with the same stats would have a lower iLevel, because of its rarity.

To go the other way say you had an epic iLevel 115 and there was a green with same stats, it would be more than iLevel 115
