This item is completely *useless* and is soley there as a bit of a toy

Comes from the Servants of the Betrayer booster pack.

I got mine April 1st on the 3rd pack of cards I'd had opened, excited to the fullest.

I believe I'm the first on on the US Emerald Dream server to have gotten one.

I've uploaded 4 screenshots of me standing outside the Auction House in Orgrimmar with each of the four different types of weather.

I love it. :)

Note: Syserror, it CAN be used in Arenas. :)

Oh and another note, if you have the Disgusting Oozeling out and you cast your weather, if it rains or snows, the rain or snow will be green. :)

an interesting note, the weather effects change slightly depending on your spell detail levels.the sun is nearly invisable on lowest setting but is a giant golden orb on full settings, so i highly recomend having spell detail turned up to full if you get this.

Just got my Weather Machine and found that if you right click the buff it doesn't always remove it but rather change effect. Managed to right click it (as in removing a normal buff) and while it removed it on the 11th click those inbetween changed from sun to cloud to rain before it got removed. Some tries it got removed after the second right click but it often takes between five to ten clicks before it removes and then the chance that the effect will change seems pretty large.

According to http://www.wowtcgloot.com/tabard_of_flame.htm (most information sourced from there), the average Buy It Now price starts around $30 USD upwards to $37 USD, with the average quantity listed hovering around 7 items.

How do the Loot cards work?
Loot cards are special rare versions of WoW TCG cards found in booster packs, starter decks, and raid decks that have a revealable unique code. Once this protective layer concealing the code is scratched away, a 25 digit promotion code is revealed that can be entered into the Blizzard offical promotions page. These codes work for both US and EU servers.

I have the 25 digit loot code, now what?
All accounts from every region in the world use http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/misc/promotion.html to redeem any and all special loot. This webpage allows you to enter the 25 digit promotion code and also select the region and realm for the character that will receive the loot item.

Upon succcessfuly submitting the above information, you will be presented with an in-game code. Write this code down or print it out; you will need it to retrieve your item. Log into the game with the character that is to receive the item and travel to Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale. There, you will need to find a goblin by the name of Landro Longshot. He is located on the lower parts of Booty Bay on the docks, and should be easily recognised due to the fact that he has a distinctive purple shirt and two body guards next to him.

When you find Landro, he will first ask if you are here for a promotion, and then ask you which TCG expansion your item comes from (or Points Redemption); check your loot card if you are not sure which item that is. Ensure you have got bag space to hold the item!

According to http://www.wowtcgloot.com/goblin_weather_machine.htm (most information sourced from there), the expansion was offocially released 2nd April '08. Upperdeck Entertainment the makers of the TCG have specified that all three loot cards (Papa Hummels Pet Biscuit, Personal Weather Machine, X-51 Nether-Rocket) in this expansion are more common that in the previous sets, so this item should average around less than $45USD.

Everything you need to know about the personalized weather machine (Screenshots should be there soon)

I got this last night and spent 3 hours with it. Hopefully I can answer everything in one post.

1. You can only get it from the trading card game. It is a loot card.

2. Currently they are selling from $30-$50. They aren't that rare so that price should be stable.

3. You turn in the code at Blizzard site first. Blizzard then converts the code based on the server you want to use it on. The new code provided online is turned in at Longshot in Booty Bay. You can cut and paste this code.

4. It is a non-wearable item. It is not a trinket and can be stored in general bags. Engineering is not required, even though it is listed as a Goblin item.

5. The weather machine creates a small weather system 6-7 feet above your head. The weather is random and comes in four flavors:
A - Clouds with wind
B - Clouds with snow
C - Clouds with rain and lightning
D - Sun, with a hint of clouds so it looks like a sun and not a large yellow orb.

6. All weather systems come with their own sound effects.
A - Clouds with wind (wind effect)
B - Clouds with snow (different wind effect)
C - Clouds with rain (rain and thunder effect)
D - Sun (Chirping birds and general nature sounds)

7. The weather changes randomly between these 4. There is no pattern in how it changes or for how long.

8. The weather lasts at least 30 seconds and can sometimes "crit" for over 120 seconds.

9. The cooldown on this item is only 30 seconds, which means that if you wish, you can have personal weather non-stop.

10. If you use the weather machine while you have existing weather, it will STACK up to 3 times, producing things like:
a) Partly sunny / cloudy
b) Superstorm
c) Thundersnow (my favorite)
d) Strobe snow (Snow and sun combo has some graphic issues)

11. Weather can be used with any mount, both land and air. If you are using a ground mount and activate weather, it will dismount you first. The weather is fixed above your head and most effects will not lag at speed. Lightning with epic flying mounts can tend to drag behind you.

12. Weather is not disrupted by anything like combat, jumping into water, etc. It can be turned off early by clicking the buff icon created. The buff icon will describe to you what kind of weather you are having.

13. The weather machine currently disrupts other character animations. When the weather changes your character may appear to stop doing things like mining, hearthing, etc. Most of the time this is just an illusion and the action will continue.
HOWEVER
As of this first post weather will stop you from eating when the clouds change, especially when it goes to the rainstorm. This means that if you are eating food to gain a buff duration that buff may not have time to kick in. Eating and using weather machine should be done with caution. (This may be fixed in a patch)

14. The weather will follow you through hearthing and Shatt portals. It also will remain if you log out. I haven't checked instances yet but I imagine it would be the same.

15. Weather is CHARACTER SIZE BASED. If you have a gnome the clouds will be smaller than say, a night elf. Effects that increase your size will also increase the size of weather, like Winterfall firewater, etc. Consider this when choosing which character gets their own set of clouds, because it really does make a difference.

That all being said, it is one of the coolest little gizmos out there. The price is just a fraction of the loot card mounts, so within a month or two there will be someone standing next to you at the AH with some clouds.

The reactions right now are priceless. People follow you, lots of tells. General confusion seems to overcome people. The buff people see is called "personalized weather". The weather spell is the result of the weather machine, so I posted this on the spell page as well.

The above mentioned times that it stacks is incorrect...it will actually stack up to 4 times.....generally though the most you see is 3...but it will stack up to 4 times.

This would've been an amazing Engineering toy, much like several other items from the stupid card game. At least they can get more money out of us this way, though.
