This epic version is a 280% speed increase. There is also a standard 60% version. You are able to buy the standard version and come back later with the same code to buy the epic once you have the appropriate riding skill.

Where does it come from and how hard is it to get?

Rarity: 1/363 booster packs (speculative)
Distribution: Servants of the Betrayer booster boxes contain 24 boosters and cost approx $65 USD (inc. shipping), therefore the average cost of obtaining this particular loot is $923.00

How much would I expect to pay for one off eBay or similar?
According to http://www.wowtcgloot.com/x51_netherrocket_xtreme.htm (most information sourced from there), the expansion was released the 15th of April 2008. Upperdeck the makers of the TCG have specified that all three loot cards in this expansion (Papa Hummels Pet Biscuit, Personal Weather Machine, X-51 Nether-Rocket) are as common as those in the previous set, so apart from the inital rush during release the price should for this mount should average around $240USD.

Facts:

The shape is Slim Pickens-style.
Both Horde and Alliance can ride the mount.
The non epic mount (100g) is colored blue, and the epic mount (200g) is colored red. Both require level 70 and applicable riding skill to use.
You can own both the epic and non-epic version at the same time with only one code required.

How do the Loot cards work?
Loot cards are special rare versions of WoW TCG cards found in booster packs, starter decks, and raid decks that have a revealable unique code. Once this protective layer concealing the code is scratched away, a 25 digit promotion code is revealed that can be entered into the Blizzard offical promotions page. These codes work for both US and EU servers.

I have the 25 digit loot code, now what?
All accounts from every region in the world use http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/misc/promotion.html to redeem any and all special loot. This webpage allows you to enter the 25 digit promotion code and also select the region and realm for the character that will receive the loot item.

Upon succcessfuly submitting the above information, you will be presented with an in-game code. Write this code down or print it out; you will need it to retrieve your item. Log into the game with the character that is to receive the item and travel to Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale. There, you will need to find a goblin by the name of Landro Longshot. He is located on the lower parts of Booty Bay on the docks, and should be easily recognised due to the fact that he has a distinctive purple shirt and two body guards next to him.

When you find Landro, he will first ask if you are here for a promotion, and then ask you which TCG expansion your item comes from (or Points Redemption); check your loot card if you are not sure which item that is. Ensure you have got bag space to hold the item!

I hate Blizzard sucking out more money from the players. I mean, I don't mind paying a monthly fee, cos it costs a fortune to handle all those servers, but please...
I do get frustrated when some real funny stuff like non-combat pets or mounts like spectral tiger and this one can only be obtained through buying some stupid loot cards... Come on! Make some interesting and adventurous quest to get one instead of pulling more money from WoW fans...

Got mine today and it is awesome for a gnome because it is small, unlike other epic mounts. Makes a cool, but subtle sound, fast and fun to control. As mentioned above, this is considered rare, possibly rarer then the Spectral Tiger, hence those who want to Ebay it can expect $600 and more as time goes on and less are available, I would expect to see people trying for $1,000 once availability is limited.

Had this in one of a set of boosters I bought earlier today, got it coded and ingame at 18:25 BST on Moonglade, EU.

First thoughts: It's a nice mount, the graphic is a bit thin, but that's to be expected given the concept. Sadly the pc I'm able to access the game from isnt the best, so it's likely the graphic as a whole will be nicer on full specs.

Makes both the Spectral Tiger and Rocket Mounts now on the same character.

Edit: Oh, and I didn't buy the card specifically, and yes, I do play the TCG.

The mount is really fun and the rocket flame and smoke effect is nice. It has pretty cool sounds too. I got mine in a pack but if you are getting yours off ebay I recommend waiting a bit before the cards are in wider circulation as I think the price will go down - these are supposed to be much more common than the spectral tiger, which still goes for $600-$700. I also posted a screenshot of a dwarf sitting on it for you to see.

It's an awesome mount.

Usual /w's I get from people are:

"What were the mats to make that?"
"What rep did you grind to get that?"
"OMG gief!!!1111eleven!1"

95% of people like the look (and brilliant sounds!), but a few think it's ugly.

I expected these reactions as I've had a Spectral Tiger on the same character for a while.

If you want to see one in-game, I can often be spotted outside the Aldor bank on Bloodhoof-EU at ~8pm.

Another thing - the loot NPC is bugged if you already have a spectral tiger on your character. It scared me to death when I entered the code for the rocket & was presented with a vendor box giving me the choice of only the 2 spectral mounts! Talking to the NPC again then displayed both the rocket and the spectral mounts! *Phew*.

In case if anybody hasn't noticed the mount in motion, the X-51 rocket constantly sways from left to right slightly in midair.

Ok, from my understanding there is one card labeled "X-51 Nether Rocket" does this only yield the rare rocket or do you re-enter the same code in when you've gotten your epic riding training to get the epic rocket?

I have a question if someone would please answer it. :)

I have used my code to be eligible to purchase a rocket for my warlock. Now, let's say I get one of my alts to 70. Would I be able to go to Booty Bay and purchase a rocket on that character, too? Provided she has the riding skill of course.

Or would I have to go and get another loot card just to get another rocket?

Edit: I went to BB today and the rocket purchase window did not pop up like it does on my Warlock. I think I might need another code. Thank you for confirming. :D

I purchased some TCG packets and got the loot card for the Nether-Rocket. I nearly crapped a brick! I'm debating on which character I should use it on. My druid already has Swift Flight Form so it may go to my shammy or hunter. I also got the card for the Ethereal-Soul trader. That one is from The Hunt For Illidan set.

The beauty of this flying mount is how it behaves differently to a gryphon.

When you go down a slight slope in the ground: a gryphon takes flight at this point even though you were running along the ground, whereas this rocket will slope downward so you can continue "ground-hovering".

Because of this, I prefer it if I am doing a lot of mixed air/ground travel.

The graphic is very cool and somehow seems more relaxing than riding a gryphon, and feels so smooth and straight. I think it's less tiring not hearing those wings flapping away.

HOWEVER, the noise of this thing is really annoying after a while. Sure, it sound cool zipping past, but if you're the one on it, the spluttering engine is really annoying and loud compared to other game sounds. I'm sure it didn't sound like this when I first got it. If anyone is tech-savvy and knows how to find which sound file it is using, please let me know!

This is a really awesome addition to anyone's collection. I received it from my boyfriend for Christmas this past year. We got one of the large boxes of cards from the local comic shop and took turns opening singles.

I get a lot of people asking me if it is a engineering receipt. lol

The slow one is blue, the fast one is red. :)

I think this is one of the best mounts in the whole game i have one myself and it is just fun to ride around on and looks cool on any race i think....They are fun just to ride around on. I am very lucky i got one i think i bought about $500 worth of cards(since the card game came out) and it was my first loot card but it is super rare ( i bought about $250 worth on packs to try and get me the rocket) and all my money finally paided off( somwhat :P)
