68 block value.. do I need to say more ? that's 95 BV just from these shoulders for a warrior with shield mastery and the new meta gem. Some ok block rating which is mostly useless but can help for passive uncrushability, or can keep block up on fast hitters. I'd love to see where those new shield slam crits will end up.

Totally conjecture, but these seem to be the alternate to Pauldrons of Berserking as part of the group of equipment you can exchange back and forth using sunmotes.

One of the best items to put yellow gem required for new tanking meta (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=35501) and get socket bonus.
Because most tank items has no yellow slot or has yellow+red slots which are stuffed with 15 stamina all the time.

Not only do these have the highest Block Value of any tanking shoulders, they also have the highest armor rating and total potential stamina of any shoulders in the game for a Warrior tank. Combined with the perfect spot to drop a Rigid Lionseye to get your hit rating up there and fill the requirement for the 10% Block Value meta, these shoulders are nothing short of perfect.

Come patch, these will be better for both Warriors and Paladins (unless you're low on Defense - in which case a simple re-gem would still be superior to using Pauldrons of Perseverance, originally designed for warriors.) The stats for this item come patch are: link.

Cliffnotes:
The equivalent paladin shoulders are going to have 14 more strength than these, and 6 more block value, at the loss of block rating (largely useless for warriors) and a marginal amount of defense.
