This is a permanent item that will always remain in your inventory so long as you never use it. Once you use it, it leaves your inventory and goes on your head for one hour. It isn't an item that is equipped, it's simply an inventory item for an hour-long debuff.

Also, druids, this item stays on you even if you shapeshift, unlike the other Hallow's End items. Use 'em up!

Maybe a bug, but if you are fighting the headless Horseman with one of these one, and he does the conflagaration; which disorients and "puts a pumpkin on your head", afterwards it will show your character ithout the pumpkin head on, but you will still have the Buff...

Here's an interesting trivia fact, you can use this while on a flying taxi. Doing so puts the pumpkin on your head as normal, with an added glitch of leaving a floating pumpkin that will chase after you, as it's slower than the flying mount. A while after you land, you can expect to be hit by a pumpkin...

So far I haven't been able to test yet if you can throw them off... Though that would be cool. Nobody expects the flying pumpkin bomber.

It is compatible with the https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=6657, so what's funny is to also use https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=21213 and ride around as a pumpkin-headed ninja on a reindeer for an hour.

edit: Damnit, I think they nerfed it so that pumpkin or S.D.D. can't be used together. Seriously WHAT was the harm in allowing these costumes to mix? Come on... :*(

I threw one of these at a Hordie in Krasus Landing in Dalaran. It turns out the 100% speed land mounts travel faster than the pumpkin does. He proceeded to run around in circles as I added two more pumpkin fiends to the chase. He's been preserving his good hair day for a good 20 minutes now.

As stated before, these items do not vanish at the end of the holiday. Its quite amusing to save up as many of these as you can and start chucking them around during Christmas or in the middle of July to see people's reactions.

WHAT?

Here's the real deal-

They never expire. 6 months from Halloween you'll still have your Weighted Jack-o'-Lantern, and six months after that. Or to be bland forever.

The pumpkin is like a scroll. Click on it, then yourself, you'll have a pumpkin head. This effect lasts for an hour (6o minutes).

When you 'throw it at others', you buff another person with a pumpkin head, it doesn't go into their inv.

Summary- Weighted Jack-o'-Lantern has one charge, no duration.

(TIP! Save these and sell them for a gold apiece. Schedule the Horseman's visits into your schedule and you'll have plenty by November. Or sell them now for 50s. (I've made 15g off my batch I aqquired today, but sell them quickly. The secret is sure to be out soon, along with the mystery of the flying brooms (another money maker))

The headless horseman comes every 4 hours in Goldshire, (close to Stormwind), Kharanos (close to Ironforge), and I am not quite sure about the elven place he arrives at. I know there is one though, maybe at Dolanaar? (Near Darnassus) When he comes you will be able to see him on the roof tops. He will / yell something and drop fire bombs onto the roofs. You must have a bucket of water with you, if you do not the Matron should have a barrel of water beside her, for you you to drawl water from. You click on the water bucket and then on the fire. This will help put out the fire. When all of the fires are gone, The Headless Horseman will say: "You have destroyed my fires! Not a single ash
is left! Now face my wrath." He is a level 11, no worries! Very easy to kill, when you kill him he will drop his head, (a pumpkin) You go up to the pumpkin and click on it. Then hit "Smash the pumpkin!" button and you will recieve <Smashed Pumpkin Loot> open up the bag and you will recieve various items. Such as candy, a mask, leper costume, rickety broom stick, weighted pumpkin head(s), etc. This is a truely remarkable experience and many of these items sell greatly! I hope I have been a help!

when he first flys in:
"the time has come the bells have tolled, shelter you weak your young and your old, cry for mercy the reckoning has come, mwahahahahahahaha"

then when you put out the fires:
"my flames have died, left not a spark, i'll send you myself to the lifeless dark, mwahahahahahahaha"

and then when you beat him:
"so eager you are for my blood to spill, yet to vanquish me tis my head you must kill, mwahahahahahahaha"
