This nice resto druid chestpiece drops of Halazzi which seems to be the 4th Animal Boss found in Zul'Aman, the new 10-man raid instance introduced in 2.3

My guild is venturing into Zul'Aman at the moment and I just made myself the Windhawk Hauberk :)

Let's compare, shall we?
Windhawk Hauberk
Wearing this chestpiece over the Windhawk one will end you up with:
+25 Armor
+6 Stamina
+6 Intellect
+1 Spirit
-19 Spell critical strike rating
+27 healing done my magical spells and effects
+12 mana per 5 seconds.

Upgrade or not? Concidering the Windhawk Hauberk has 3 sockets and the Shimmer-pelt Vest has none I'd take the Windhawk Hauberk. Not only can the Windhawk Hauberk be used for hybrid purposes. The 3 sockets will make the difference for me. Say if you add a Teardrop Living Ruby x3 (+18 healing)you will end up with more healing. Or you could go with a Royal Nightseye (+9 healing/+2 mp/5) and have the same amount of healing, less mp/5. But a nice amount of spellcrit (Dreamstate/HT anyone? :) )
Myself, being a 375 LW and keeping in mind that I also have the Windhawk Belt and the Bracers I'd choose the set over this one because of the set bonus.

If you dont have leatherworking this is a really nice chestpiece that will last long, simply because of the fact lots of guilds raid 10 men instances daily and dont have the people to venture into SSC/TK

Depending on how u decide to socket the windhawk hauberk this item isnt much of an upgrade, If u socket the Windhawk with 2x Royal nightseye and 1x Luminous Noble Topaz it would amount to:
28 stam
33 Intel
29 spirit
101 healing
4mp5
Though looking at it from the chest piece alone it is clearly falls behind by 8mp5 but the windhawk set bonus grants an additional 8mp5, so basically it is only 2 intel points and 1 spirit point behind the shimmer belt but this is easily justified through the greater spell damage and spell crit which makes running around in resto gear much easier

Personally, I don't think it's an upgrade if you currently use 3/3 Windhawk. I do and I have refused to break the set bonus for either this or the Leather Chest that drops in Mount Hyjal, although I will use one of them with a +15 spirit enchant for my tree set.

Right, I realised Windhawk isnt that good for raiding, specially after you ditched one of the pieces and lose the set bonus. Manage to get my paws on Life-Step belt which is totally awesome. So if this baby drops ill wave goodbye to my Windhawk Chest as well

Compared to the other 3 epic quality raid pieces (not counting nordrassil or t6) Stonebough Jerkin, Gnarled Chestpiece of the Ancients, and Chestguard of Malorne, this piece is just plain better (Even socketed with epics this is better then Malorne)

A great balance of stam int and spirit as well as very high +heal and very very high mp5, great piece

Spelldamage doesn´t mather at all for soloing since most restodruids have feral set for farming and soloing anyway.

Sure with a good restoset you get a ok amount of spelldamage but for it to make a difference you need thoose points in the balancetree and respeccing everytime you are going solo isn´t an option.

Just buy yourself a feralset, not very expensive and it´s easy to get compared to resto/balance and use your cat to solo.

Iunno, I actually want the Robe of Heavenly Purpose a bit more as a resto druid even though it is cloth. Sadly I have to pass it as priests have priority though :(

Drops from Halazzi <Lynx Avatar> in Zuul Aman,
nicer for druid resto although the Robes of Heavenly Purpose is way much better for it has more 3 gems sockets and more spirit and healing bouns..
however if you consider to stay a live in raid encounters then stamina and armor stats on Shimmer-pelt Vestare more interesting .yet the Robes of Heavenly Purpose will rule ,problem is it is a cloth item of which as druid should pass for a preist ..but hey if shaman and paladan and would roll some times on leather healing gear then i would roll on it too.
and no hard feeling ( pass if the presit in the party is a guildie or a friend).

all in all a strong upgrade from kara chest, though i like the cloth chest from nalorakk a bit more. Would love to have both, this one for encounters when raid takes more dmg (eagle boss), and cloth chest for fights with little or none raid dmg (bear boss).

of course, need over greed, will never roll against a priest on the cloth one (in the same way i wont stand for a shaman rolling on leather!).
