Seriously low drop rate....i killed 30 of these and only got 2 drops

(according to wowhead) Drop rates:
Greater Curst Burster: 43%
Young Curst Burster: 33%

yet i still went for the Youngs as a Rouge 'cause it was hard to make a move with the Greaters underground and untargetable. U still might encounter them occasionally. just annoying.

Rounded up 10+ of the small ones (Im resto, so i have earth shield), made sure i had dealt damage to all of them. Popped Fire Elemental and they all went done in seconds.

Confirmed, listed drop rates only apply if you kill the mob before it can spit poison at you.
It seems you can stun them, but you must do it before they start to cast their poison. Its also possible there is simply a speed kill requirement.
Killed about 30 of them without a drop till I read a related forum on the matter.
Even at 70 as a rogue its hard to kill them before they can spit without burning all my trinkets.
Seems to be similar to the Mok'Nathal quest for killing the larvae before they hatch from their cocoons.
EDIT: Confirmed speed kill creates approximately 90% drop rate on the young crust busters, that is 6 of my 7 drops occurred when I killed the mob in 8 secs or less and before it could spit, no drops after the mob had spit on over 45 young crust busters 7th(original first drop) occurred at a 10 sec mark, but subsequent tests failed, 8 secs without spit seems to be the bench mark for guaranteed drop. Incidentally:5 of the 6 drops speed kill drops occurred one after the other with proper cycling of trinkets and cool downs, they were separated by 1 non-speed kill.

As a 70 Hunter I found I could run between 45,43 and 51,38 which allowed me to get my quota. You have to watch out for the Greater's though. There are a couple of them between those points, but you can keep a watchful eye on them. If you use concussive shot as much as you can you will be able to stay away from being poisoned so much. Keep your pet well healed and he will do fine. I use a Warp pet which are plentiful in Shadow Valley.

68 Hunter, took about 27 kills to get the 7 I needed. Speed didn't seem to matter, but I didn't have it in mind when I was killing them. Takes me about 10-30 seconds to kill each, if that helps.

EDIT: And I used Intimidation whenever possible... standard procedure.

And confirmed, you can't pull them very far.

no it is not a low drop rate it took me about 10 kills to get the 7 i needed...this is for all the ppl complaining that the drop rate is low.....this https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=31656#dropped-by is and example of a low drop rate

I had a 34% drop rate from the Young Crust Bursters (5/15)
And a 67% drop rate from the Greater Crust Bursters (2/3)

Make a point to kill the Greater Crust Bursters, they drop significantly more often and aren't much harder to kill.

48 kills to get 7 drops. more like 1:7 ratio

The drop rate for me during the quest was
3/8 on the greater
4/18 on the young

wasnt bad for me.. dropped every other kill.. most i would go without one is 3 kills. O.O i even sometimes got 2 times in a row.. wasnt too bad

so either I was lucky.. or they changed the droprate :-)

killed about 20 before the first dropped then i got them every other kill. only got them off the young ones, not a single one from the adults.

I killed 7 and i got about 4 things. I would say 50 % drop rate know, and if you have killed 230, and got NO drop, you have not the quest, or wrong mob, or server prob.

Drop rate isn't great, but every 3-4 kills I'd get another gland. Once or twice took 6-7 kills. Mainly worked on the Young Crust Burster, killed about 4 of the Greaters and only one of them dropped a gland.

i had these droprates: young crust burster 45% and greater crust burster 67%. a few of them evaded during the fight without a reason. maybe they are a little bit buggy.

Same thing happened to me...I get the mob to 2% and what do you know, it evades when im completely outa mana. Somethings bugged
