juyo, if you whant a more enchantment specked, you go take the https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=31106 and put spell gems in it.....has a WERRY nice AP stat that would make this helm rubbish for an enchantment shamy........

Tweaking this helm is incredibly efficient. I ran through a few numbers and this is what i came up with. Note that this is PvE calculations for a holy Paladin.

The current first choice holy paladin helm: Mask of Pennance - https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=27790
(Note: The Mask of Pennance do not have any sockets at all)

Mask of Pennance has got +66 to healing as a base stat. Combined with the best head enchant in the game (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=29189), this ends up at 113 +healing and 17mp5 which is very good.

Now put the same enchant on this head and socket it with three Teardrop Living Ruby's (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=24029).

35+18+18+18+37=126 +healing and 11 mp5. If you think about it, there is more +healing here on this one than the Mask of Pennance. I know Teardrop Living Ruby's are expensive, so you CAN alternatively use the Teardrop Blood Garnet (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=23094) and end up at 111+healing. 2 healing below what the Mask of Pennance would have become.

In addition, this head has got 21+critrating. The mask has got none, and since +crit is currently a paladins mp5 i would have gone for this one anyways.

Mask of Pennance has got higher stats, however. But what do you need stamina for in PvE anyway? And intellect is not a problem for a paladin anyway. You can afford to lose 15 of it. It's like 250/300 mana anyway.

The Fathom-Helm of the Deeps (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=30728) is the head that can reach the current highest +healing in the game, if socketed and enchanted right. 186 +healing.

As a side note: i still went Steamvaults until i got Mask of Pennance for the looks, but this one is just as viable =) For those of you who wish to get to raiding as fast as possible, because getting the Mask was hell... =/

For an elemental shaman this is even better then tidefury helm, unless you *really* need the stamina or intellect... or a meta gem.
Un-socketed it has 3 more +damage, 24 more crit rating, and 2 less mp5. Then you still have 3 sockets to work with.

2x Solid Star of Elune would more then make up for the stam difference, and 1x Brilliant Dawnstone would nearly make up the int difference, and socketed like this you'd get another +5 damage, taking it to +8 over unsocketed tidefury (as well as more stam, more crit, and nearly as much int).

But this really shines if losing stam and int does not matter, as you can then stack crit (Gleaming Dawnstone) or damage (Runed Living Ruby) and customize this to your needs to make it far and away better then Tidefury.

By the way, https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=31110 from this quest has the EXACT same stats, aside from the armor. So if you are interested in this, but you hate the looks, try the other hat.

Starts off from a quest in Shadowmoon Village in Shadowmoon Valley. An undead female apothicary gives you "Spectracles" to see ghosts within Shadowmoon Village and you kill 15 of them. Then you get a quest to visit "Ancient Shadowmoon Spirit". You do 3 quests for him; Divination: Gorefiend's Armor, Divination: Gorefiend's Traunchen, Divination: Gorefiend's Cloak. Then when you turn those all in you get possessed by The Ancient Shadowmoon Spirit who is actually Teron Gorefiend. You get a pet bar and you controll Teron and kill a Draenai who runs by to fight you. Basically all you have to do is keep the powerword shield ability that he has on him at all times and you shouldn't go beneath 90% health. Then after you do this the quest tells you to go back to the Apothicary person back in Shadowmoon Village and then you get your choice between this and 5 other helms (one for each class).

there are/will be sockets with +healing/dmg&healing; and perhaps MP5 which are yellow, blue or both
but if you're ele or resto shaman the socket bonus doesn't really make a big difference anyway

I'm a 70 elemental shaman, wondering what kind of gems I should put in this. my spell crit is at 15.3%, if you could give me gem names that'd rock

This isn't hard, if u have a good helpful guild, its easily doable. the person who said theres a dozen that are better, write us a list, I doubt all 12 can be better than this

stop whining about 'theres no enhancement helmet!'. No *!@# if blizzard had to make 3 helmet for every class that would be a bit too much right? If you have a brain you can go for the rogue version which is damn nice for shamans as well. And for pallas you can take the shaman helm for healing, I mean does it really matter that you have 200 armor less? Youre not tanking youre healing, and if you were tanking you would go for the warrior version.

this helm really is good for healer or ele shammy,it got 40 spell dmg and 24 crit rate.3 sockets u can fill with healing spells or spell damage.the only bad thing about it is just a small amount of stam

im a resto shaman and i sockets 2 dazzling talasite and 1 royal nightseye... so the total mana regen will be 10 mana per 5 sec

so with the gems i mentioned this helm gives:
12 stam
23 int
35 spell + 5 spell dmg from socket bonus and 9 more healing
24 spell crit rating
10 mana per 5 second

not bad at all for any healer shaman or pally since its a reward quest :)

Just thought I'd add: Most Draenei female models have issues with this, because of their hair, it sticks through the helmet rather then being covered up ^^;

This is a broken thread by thottbot. They need to be more organized and show the friggin quest required and any quest chain involved in order to acquire this item. I see nothing here so someone dropped the ball with thottbot.
This is a prime example of why some people consider other similar sites better than thottbot. There's no info on who the quest giver is, no info on what prereq quests are required, no info on which npc you need to talk to to get the helm, no info on what other quest rewards are offered. There's no info whatsoever offered by thottbot pertaining to this item.
If you enter 'Second Sight' into the search field you'll get all the other items offered from this chain but each one will refer you to the same worthless thread, this one.

So, the dumbass that I am, tried talking to somebody in the room while doing this quest, when you become the 72 elite, I failed, and I cannot do the quest over again. I have heard however from a friend of a friend of a sister of a GM that these types of quests can "rebirth" after an amount of days/weeks/monthly? does anybody know of any truth?

the quest was ged for me , handed in all the pre-quests for the help then accepted the next one , turned into the minion , then i couldnt attack the 72 elite , it never attacked me either....

was it the same for anyone else?
