Is anyone able to report on what level Fishing skill one would need to achieve in order to go fishing in the waters of Nagrand?

I'm going to try to test it myself, with 315 before bait, and see what I can manage, once I get some time tonight, if no one replies before then.

Im easily catching these @ 475 skill. 375/375 fishing + 25 from pole + 75 from lure.

With 470 fishing (375 + 20 pole +75 lure), fish still get away from me. Possibly need at least 475 to catch this efficiently.

I can say only that for fishing in the whole Outland, i recommend the best lure possible that is obtained via engineering. It is cheap to craft and make fishermans life a lot easyer:)

Don't bother flying around for pools, it's faster to fish somewhere stationary since 2.1.0.

Fishing around throne of elements seemed to give a 30% drop rate (same for the petfood grill and mudfish) and the skill requirement is lowest there.
Trade your Figluster Mudfish with a Physical DPS class, encourage them to either fish as well or farm Chunk o' Basilisk.

when I reached 445 total (350 base + 20 rod +75 lure), I could catch these at the Elemental Plateau. I'm pretty sure thats the lowest.

I disagree with Alegis, plenty of pools in Skysong Lake.

Even if you're only interested in say, Bluefish, fish the Mudfish pools as well so when the new pool spawns, there's a chance it'll be a Bluefish pool. Surplus Mudfish sells on AH for about the same amount as Bluefish, so you can buy the Bluefish if you're short of getting a full stack.

According to this guide, Nagrand generally requires 380-395 to cast and 475-490 for a certain catch.

With 304 base fishing and 100 lure and +20 pole (424 fishing) i got way more Your fish got away! Messages than i did actually catch the fishes just outside Garadar (Throne of elements lake)

With the advent of addons like Fishing Buddy that lets you just stand there and double right click to cast, and detects whether you need a lure, applies one automatically if you do, and then casts the next time you double right click, AND casts only inside the circle for the spawn when you are fishing specific pools, it's well worth it to fish the spawned pools.

The simple way to make sure fish don't get away from you is to take the minimum fishing skill of a zone and add 95 that way fish wont get away.
For Nagrand that would be 380+95=475
And for Sunspring Lake (and maybe others) it's 395+95=490

If horde, go to Garadar, but be sure to be fishing in Skysong Lake. With 305 skill +100Lure (405 total) you can get a high number of succesful catches.

just decided to sit down in nagrand, with no fishing skill...have gone from 0 to 50 and pulling out icefin blue's and the figlusters

I was messing around, flying on my new Tawny Windrider, and decided to go fishing (since I have been obsessed lately with the Fishing Extravaganza on Sundays ).

Here are my ratios for 10 minutes worth of fishing just west of Camp Forge: Fear in Nagrand at 7:20pm Server time...(It's right next to a waterfall and you have to fly to get there.)

Icefin Bluefish x13
Figluster's Mudfish x7
Barbed Gill Trout x10

I thought this was a pretty decent rate for the Icefin Bluefish and Figluster's Mudfish, which give nice buffs when cooked. I will see how well they sell. Also, I'll try different server times and differnt areas where you can catch these fish to see if the catch ratios will vary at all.

I have 417/375 fishing skill with my Arcanite Fishing Pole, Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots, and +2 Fishing skill enchant on a crappy pair of gloves. Using Bright Baubles (+75 fishing skill) I did not recieve the "Your fish got away!" message.

yes it is .. i dont remember where i got it but i do ... alliance dwarf priest on neptulon. I can only tell you i run around every cooking suplier and recipe vendors ( + fishing traner in zangarmash ) and i think i got it from him but i`m not sure. Go to the fisherman, to cooking trainer, to cooking sulier in nagrand ( Uriku ), Terokkar Forest innkeeper ( Biribi ) and 1 more Supply Officer Mills in Terokkar Forest then i looked at my "cookbook" :) it was there and i`m preaty sure that are not more cooking recipes at the moment

im at 375 fishing right now, i have a pole that gives me plus 20 fishing, and i have a lure on my pole thats 75...and its still very hard to catch these things, in ten minutes, i cought only four of these fish

Skill does not change the drop rate, only the chance to catch something. If you can fish the area with +75 lure a +100 lure will give you nothing better.

Just to make it clear: While fishing in the pools that drop this fish, over 50% of your fish is getting away with a skill of 375+20+100. If you catch a fish, it has around 10-15% chance to be this one.

This is hard to get, and don't even think to fish this in order to sell it for profit - even the lures will cost more than you'll earn, let alone the time in which you could make way more doing something else.

Seems I picked the wrong place. So my advice: don't go to Lake Sunspring. Although the numbers above tell it has the best droprate, you need a wicked high 525 fishing for no getaways and the droprate is low. East of Halaa the droprate is somewhat higher, and the skill much lower (I can fish there without a lure, so I estimate it's around 380 needed just like most of Terokkar).

You don't actually need to much skill to catch these buggers, and I'm pretty sure they're <b>evening/night fish </b>. I was able to fish these regularly in Nagrand just southwest of Barrier hills (the lake with the waterfalls) with only 345 skill and a lure (+75); the droprate isnt too bad either theyre about 8 bluefish to 20 barbed gills, but after 20 minutes you have atleast a stack or two.

Just tried 275 fishing + 100 lure and it is not high enough. So, somewhere between 376 and 400 is the minimum skill required.

Ok I went to nagrand with Fishing skill of 303 my poll is +20 so my skill lvl wld be 323 put a +100 lure on and started to fish, was ok was getting few "fish got away" but only got 3 Icefin Bluefish with 2 +100 lures(20 mins). I fig lets see how a +75 lure does so I start to fish tons of "fish got away" only got 6 fish with one +75 lure (10 mins) funny thing is 4 of the fish where Icefin Bluefish. Go fig lol, anyway hope numbers help some fig out when to go. Good fishing to all!

Sunspring lake .big iron pole +20 skill , lure +75 skill , skill level at start 370, had 6-10 minute lures, by end of 60 minutes- 45 icefin bluefish, maxed my skill level at 375, along with a large assortment of vendor/cooking skill up variety fish. Graveyard area between halla and aeris landing. Good luck

Anyone got any tips on best place for finding "pools" of these buggers?

scratch that.., lakes on eastern side of halaa have pools of mudfish and bluefish :D

Fishing stationary I tend to get more bluefish in the morning (before 10 am) than mudfish, but later on I always get more mudfish. Can anyone confirm it? Maybe it's just my luck but it keeps happening without exception.
