Very nice quest reward, very easy to obtain. Does not share a cooldown timer with Vengeance of the Illidari (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=28040 ).

This trinket by all rights could possibly be blue and a must for any level 60 coming into Zangamarsh looking to gear up. All the beta testers I encountered used it for several levels or until they completed the Terrokar/Sketti chain of quests to recieve a blue version of this spell enhancing gem.

Actually this does not share cooldown with vengeance of the illidari, but while veangeance is active you can not use this one, the other way around is also true. It is usefull because you can have 35 secs of improved damage when combined with vengeance of the illidari

Do any of the +Dmg over x seconds affect DoT's AFTER they are cast? Or does the trinket(s) need to be activated before casting DoT's?

As a mage, get used to this and Vengeance of the Illidari https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=28040 because they will be your friends for a loooong time. And rightfully so, as they are invaluable assets to your DPS.

I dunno what Blizzard was smoking when they made two of the best DPS caster trinkets easily attainable with early 60 quests, but I wish they'd buy some more.

For shadow priests and affliction warlocks this thing is worth its weight in gold. Trinkets with passive damage turned out to be few and far between.

Of those, only Mark of Defiance, Oculus of the Hidden Eye, and this are obtainable before level 70. Given that, if you are an affliction warlock, or a shadow priest, most likely this will be in your dps gear set when you ding 70 and stick there until you get into raids or heroics.

There are a few better options preBC:

Of those preBC trinkets, 1 is in Naxx, 1 in BWL, and Reed is only 3 damage better and has no "use" ability.

Grand total there are 13 +damage warlock trinkets, and 12 for priests in the game right now. A great piece of eq, this modest, low level trinket gets spectacular results by filling a niche in the eq table perfectly.

This type of trinket might be nice for a prot pally who already has enough def and avoidance. Make a macro that uses this trinket before using Avenger's Shield, and you have a sizable chunk of extra spell damage at the beginning of the fight to help build threat.

I am wondering if this bad boy stacks with my Vengance of the Illidari. I have the quest complete and can choose a reward but befoe i do so i want to know if they stack or activate each others cooldowns or something. TY

It shares the same item cooldown with the Vengeance of the Illidari (30 seconds), so you will not be able to stack these two together (kind of like how you can't drink two potions in a row). However, using them both is still useful as they both have a 2 minute use cooldown. Using this in conjunction with the Vengeance allows to you have significant bonus damage/healing once every 1 minute rather than every 2 minutes.

I'm a demonology warlock and I have just over 400 spell damage without any non-warlock buffs on me, and I have to say I LOVE this trinket, it's awesome. Being a Blood Elf I never raided and got those major spell damage trinkets. This gets me well over 500 which helps a lot agenst the elites and powerful bosses in Outland. it'll take a lot to make me part with this, and with a 2m cooldown I basicly spam it whenever possible.

This trinket is very nice and useful for bosses and certain situations when you need a little more power to get the job done quickly.

The real nice thing about this trinket is, it only has a 2 min cooldown on the 100+ xtra damage when used. It's more like a minute 40 cooldown becuase its cooling off while you have 20 seconds of xtra damage. So by the time your 20 seconds is up its only got a minute and 40 seconds left before you can use it again. Very nice!

Definitly a keeper.

Quest can be picked up at Stonebreaker Hold for the Horde. 48,44 for the Camp.

This is a quest reward for alliance from orebor harborage. Just complete the 2 quests where you kill ogres and it's yours.

+43 with +155 when used for 20 sec (2 min. cooldown)
43 + (155 * 1/6 of the time) = +68.83 dmg

VERY few trinkets will boost your DPS this much. And for a long time, this is probably better than the blue +Crit% trinkets you get.

+Crit% relies heavily on +dmg gear, since crits will do 150% (normally) to 200% (with talents) of your damage a percentage of the time. So, the higher your damage is the more important crit% becomes. But if you aren't geared in epics, +dmg will probably do more for you.

Here's an example:
You have a spell that causes 500 base damage. If you have no +dmg and only crit, getting something with 22 crit rating will put your crit up 1% (with talents). Now, the spell averages at 505 damage. If you got 22 +dmg instead of 22 crit rating, your spell would probably be raised somewhere to around 520 (depending on dmg coefficients)

Now lets say you're in a party/raid and you've got decent gear, debuffs on the mob may raise that damage a whole bunch. If it raised it to 2,500, 1% crit becomes 2,025. Now pure crit wins.

Crit may also win if you have special talents that get procced by a crit.

However! At the level you get this, and far until you're well geared, +dmg is usually more important than crit. Talents will start making crit more important in groups that buff your damage. But notice +dmg has to come first! Or the crit just doesn't do as much.
