The droprate for the amulet is absurdly low. I killed all the elves in the area twice over before finally finding it. Best to just skip this quest.

Drop rate seems to be quite low indeed. This took me personally 45 kills to receive.
I recommend staying outside of the 'building' and killing the elves walking around it. These are further apart, wander less and less likely to add up to your fight and kill you then the ones inside.

I have killed around 40 Sunhawk Reclaimers so far, and still havent got it! The position is around 38.62, in the Cryo-Core. The drop rate is amazingly low!!! Get a lot of supplies, you are gonna need them . . .

either your lucky here or your VERY unlucky, as ive done this quest on 5 different characters most of them had it within 20 kills, also do this quest in combination with https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=9703. Then you dont have to open those boxes

As noted in the "dropped by" 3% drop rate - many folks have taken hundreds of kills to get this, while others get it quickly.

Doing this quest three times now.

First alt: Got the amulet on kill #17.
Second alt: Got the amulet on kill #9.
Third alt: Got the amulet on kill #44.

This places the drop rate at roughly 4.3%. Just on average, I'd expect to kill about 20-25 mobs before it drops. But again, it's completely random, so there's no sure way to know.

Managed to get quite alot of Irradiated Crystal Shards though so that mad eup for the drop rate
also watch out for the level 18 stealthed rare patrolling the The Cryo-Core

The Amulet is found outside the Cryo Core on the west side. The reclaimers drop it. It's a very, very low drop rate, but kill all the reclaimers and you will find it. 34/62 is the most common place to find the drop.

I'm not sure how many of these guys I've killed exactly, but I came in with no Irradiated Crystal Shards, and came out with 84.

At a 33% drop rate... 252 kills. 120xp per kill is 30240xp, and another 1350 for the quest.

31590xp isn't bad.

To many people it has taken over 50 kills to get the necklace but it only took me two kills to get it. i think i was really lucky

It took me about 30 min to drop the amulet, but I was able to kill Fenissa the Assassin lvl 18-who had a silver dragon around her portrait. She dropped a green leather chest: Silvermoon Tunic of The Wild -with 74 armor 5 attack power 2 stam and 2 agility. Nice piece for a rogue! That made it worth the wait for the quest amulet after all. She stealths around the building. I found her at 35:60

Sigh, this quest is painful, I was killing fairly quickly but was so tired of it, got around 50 kills on the mobs, no amulet so I abandoned it. Hope everyone else has better luck!

It took me ca. 10-25 kills to get Galaen's Amulet. On level 15. If anyone wonders, I play on Earthen Ring named Anaksha.

Really look on the bright side: You will most likely get TONS of xp from the kills, and you will get irradiated shards to turn in at the camp

According to the Killcount addon, it took me 244 kills to recieve this item. I killed Fenissa the Assassin (or whatever she is called) twice during the time i farmed for this drop. She's a stealthed level 18 rare mob and can pack a mean punch with her knockdown attack. She patrols the entire Cryo-Core in a circle, so be mindful if you go AFK.

I started out, fresh level 16, and when i finally recived the drop i was 17, with about 30% left to level 18. Managed to pack up about 80 copper ore during the time so there's a decent amount of veins in the area.

Just read this forum to get the Necklaces Loc. Got said Necklace on 3 guy in 1 miniutes time. This may imply that the drop rates been fixed.

I must have killed hundreds of the Sunhawk Reclaimers before this dropped. Good news is I filled up the rest of my XP bar and levelled. :)

I believe it is your best bet to grind the mob INSIDE the crashed building than grinding outside.

wow, i came back to try it again and got it on like the 8th mob. definitely go for the one's inside the building. Although the first try, i was killing and killing for hours, came back a few levels later, and got it in under 10 minutes.

The amulet is indeed an uncommon drop at the very least. However, I got mine to drop from the blood elf that patrols the eastern entrance of the wreckage itself.

Cleared the whole area twice (was only one there) on my Hunter
before it finally dropped on the third wave of repops about halfways into them.

I smirked when I saw the quest text said "any of these Bloodelfs"..
I killed them all twice.. and they didn't have it ;>

I got tons of greens while killing the bajillions of elves that it took to finally get the amulet..

...and a rare assassin came through twice...

..and I leveled twice.. lol.. yeah, it takes a while..

Wow I've been looking for this amulet forever it's been four days i think I'm just gonna give up (word of advice) don't do this quest if you don't get the amulet in 10 kills.

I got to kill the "rare" Fenissa the Assassin 3 times in the hour or so that I was doing this quest. She dropped 2 hawt robes and a nice tunic thing.

Open quest log
Select ' Galaen's fate'
Press <Abandon Quest>

And you're done , no headaches.

Seriously, this is the most !@#$%^ed droprate i have ever seen in all my questing over 4 lvl60-70 chars.

Took me 79 kills of these reclaimers to get the amulet. It is worth it though, i got about 13000 exp at level 18 in about 30 minutes not including the exp for turning in the quest. These things go down easy and spawn really fast.

Small drop rate yes. If not you get it after 100 kills wait to a higher level (40-50) and kill all of them at once then sure one drops it :)

I killed the rare spy mob, too - got some awesome armor, but it was f'ing mail (I'm a priest). Checking here to see if I grabbed the amulet out of a box or something - I'm just camped right in the middle of the Cryo Core killing everything in sight - been searching around like that for about 20 min now - thought I'd better check. Too bad I was right & it's one of those low-rate drops. The same seems to go for all the dropped item quests in this area. Bear flanks took me forever (8s quest reward), the murloc idol quest took me about 75 kills for 8 or 9 items, now I'd say I'm on about kill 50 - 60 on this quest, and nothing. For 1 item. At least I'm gaining exp, but I don't freaking play this game to farm XP. If I wanted to do that, I'd go back to freaking Dragon Warrior (if you remember that, you truly ARE old school, lol).

I took about 1 week to get this i found like 20 greens and it still wouldn't drop. Theres and imporved chance if u killl the guy to the far west, other then that, its the crappiest quest out there

Do not pay attention to drop rates. They're factoring in the kills people got without the quest, meaning zero percent chance to drop and so it lowers the drop percent on thott.

The rogue is a named non elite... Fenis I beleive, a dark haired Bloodelf rogue,,, She is very hard to solo because those blood elf priests roam in such a wide area... attack her in an open and cleared area if you want to kill her otherwise you will die in a hail of fire and ice. She paths around the cryo core going past each mage sentry.

This quest is without a doubt the most ridiculous one I've done in a while.

Killed 53 level 17s, 24 level 16s, and 3 rare assassins (though I don't think it actually drops the amulet, might give you a better idea how long I was there) before it dropped. Even level 70 quests have higher drop rates than that.

And that fireball hurts. <.<

Sure as hell won't be doing this quest again. Just going to skip it next time around.

Took me 7 or 8 kills. I dont know if it have to do with any of it, but one mob that ran in opened one of those small chests inside (not lootable for us) and that kill gave me the amulet :o

So far 50 level 17 reclaimers and 64 level 16 reclaimers. Quest abandoned and re-taken. I have done this quest lots of times before and it has never taken so long. For me it usually drops on the west bank but no such luck so far. /sigh

Yay ...3 kills later it finally dropped from level 16 at 41,60.
