It's made me wonder if it would be worth it to buy a lot of crystals now before the price skyrockets for all the enchanters looking to skill up.

if u have lost of money i recommend many of u start to buy arcane crystal because as game mechanic many of the reagents that u get from mining is not as many as u think and i dont think that arcane crystals will drop from mines as many as candy either as player i have more or less 10 in my bank and will never sell considering the money that drop from mobs it is always good to keep some in the bank and wait and see but my personal idea is get 10 and wait and see thx

Notice that arcane dust is disenchanted from almost any item you will find, just like illusion dust is now.

If you buy arcane crystals only to dis them into dust, you stand to loose a lot of gold.

I think some of you are a little off the mark about this dust.

The primary source of this dust isn't Arcane Crystals. This dust is the new Illusion Dust. It comes from disenchanting Armor/Weapons in TBC.

In Alpha and early Beta there was an enchanting recipe to disenchant 1 Arcane Crystal into 3 Arcane Dust, however this recipe has been removed from the game.

Well, arcane crystals may or may not DE into Arcane Dust, but AFAIK, Arcane Crystals do not make Arcane Dust. Arcane Dust comes from DEing gree items in Outlands.

So if you're looking to buy greens to disenchant into Arcane Dust, buy pieces of armor.

The cheapest thing i've come over so far to make and DE for these are Fel Iron Blood Ring(https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/spell=31048) and Golden Draenite Ring(https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=24075). If you buy regs for these of Ah, and get a guildie or something to make em for free this is a great profit. Atleast on my server both Blood Garnet and Golden Draenite cost from 1g and down+Fel iron bar's wich you can get from 15-20g/stack. Let's say that it costs 1g/each gem, and 1g/each Bar you will use 3g on each ring, and you can not get any less than 2 arcane dust or 2 lesser planar essence each, wich probably sells for more on AH. Therefore if you set 3g as a max limit to each ring you will make money off it.

I made 147 rings, it turned out to:
-265xArcane Dust
-31xGreater Planar Essence
-6xSmall prismatic shard

if you're a tailor and need a lot of arcane dust, one way of getting it would be to gather tons of netherweave cloth and then craft netherweave bracers (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=21849) with it.

This will turn 18 netherweave cloth into 2 arcane dust (rounded, it's a little less than 2 actually)

One stack of netherweave costs approximately 5g, which would make the arcane dust cost 2.50g.
(buying 10 stacks (~50g) will get you 11 bracers, so you'll need 11 rune thread (~5g), totalling the sum to 55g, the same price as 11 stacks of netherwave, that's why i left the rune thread out)

If you're going to buy the items off the AH, compare the prices of a stack of netherweave to 2 arcane dusts and go for the one that's cheaper.

(note that you will not always get arcane dust from disenchanting the netherweave bracers)

After reading comments on cheapest way to get arcane dust, i tried the making rings from JC and DE them. I made about 20 rings and i only came out with about a stack, and a little over, but i got 3-4 large planars too, so the rate of arcane dust isnt 100% like i had hoped.

Cost of these gems and the bars wont make you any profit, as the red ones were 1g each at least on my server, and the yellow ones were 50s to 1g each as well, since it takes 2 per ring, thats 2g per, i made 20 rings, but i also had 20 yellow ones in bank, so i spent about 30g ish for a stack of dust and 3 and a half planars from the disenchants.

Better off buying the dust if u are doing it this way. dust sells for 28-35g a stack.

The best way i found to get arcane dust is to craft the green bracers lvl 61 from tailoring only takes 1 stack of cloth and a thread, great dust, and cloth can be bought 2-3g at times, for a stack or farm it all yourself.

10 bracers i usually get about 2 stacks of dust easy, occasional planar, but more dust.

As a level 65 (almost 66) I have sent all my BoE's to my disenchanter and I have 167 Arcane dust sitting in my bank. Not to mention the 20 or so Greater Planar Essences.

Great way to save up for your mount or to level ur tradeskills (BS/Tailoring)

Because of the new dailies in 2.4, the market is now flooded with high-level greens (from the Shattered Sun Supplies quest reward). Expect the average price for common high-level enchanting mats (Arcane Dust, Greater Planar Essence) to take a nosedive. On my server Arcane Dust has dipped below 75s apiece and Greater Planars are barely 5g.

Keeping that in mind, if you're an enchanter doing the new dailies, it might be better to vendor some greens (or even list them on the AH) than disenchant them. Generally, the more armor a green gives, the higher its vendor value (cloth < leather < mail < plate < shield, and wrist < waist < boots < shoulders, etc). which should help you decide whether to DE or vendor. If your server's economy is like mine (Arcane Dust = 75s and Greater Planar = 5g) then that more or less means vendor ALL weapons, mail and plate armor (except for bracers and belts), because the vendor value far exceeds the AH value of the mats you're likely to get (unless you luck out and hit the 5% chance for the shard). If you've already got loads of dust and essences in your bank, then that's even more reason to start vendoring those greens.

you may want to make netherweave pants instead they yield 3 or more for me and take 6 bolts don't know the numbers are enough to be worth it. i still get more dust essence i think.

I'm leveling enchanting atm. So I just picked my druid (feral, full t7-25) and went shattered halls normal (you will need the key tho). One run took me 30 mins. I got 80 netherweave cloth (crafting netherweave bracers on my lock and dising on druid), 28 arcane dusts from random boe green drops, 4 large brilliant shards and 8 greater planar essences.
Hope helps someone :P Pretty fast farming.

I was trying to level my enchnating from 1-400 in a matter of one day so that I could have my ring enchants. After realizing how much Arcane Dust I would need I decided there was NO WAY I was buying them from the AH. I did some research and noticed that Netherweave Cloth drops pretty heavily on the Isle of Quel 'Danas...so....I farmed the demons on the isle for about an hour, got a plethora of Netherweave Cloth and had my tailor create as many Netherweave Bracers as possible. The mats are super easy and inexpensive. I d/e'd the bracers, and got tons of Arcane Dust (at least 15 stacks) along with a good amout of lesser planar. I would reccomend this method as a cost-effective approach for cheap skates trying to level enchanting.

I found running instances slow going (my gear is horrid), and couldn't stand going back to the Isle. So a great way to farm this is on Ogres in Nagrand, because you can get exalted with the Kurenai/Mag'har for a Talbuk mount at the same time. They drop lots of Netherweave to tailor and greens to blow up.

I just ran through an entire cave without stopping, chucking Living Bomb on everything, they all die behind me and I loot on the way out. Very efficient. Got exalted and through the tough 300-350 period in one afternoon.

Using some law of average may not always apply. In the best case scenario, ellemx2 may have disenchanted the Netherweave Bracers and received 3 Arcane Dust each time.

Since on my server these went 4g per piece, I decided it's much easier to buy greens from level 60 to 70 and disenchant them. The price on those were usually ranging from 2g to 7g. Got ~400 dust almost 20 times cheaper by buying greens.

Went and did the Isle of Quel'Danas dailies just now. The quests no longer award sharttered sun supplies and not a single green dropped for me. Waste of time.

not sure if the supplies have been phased out in a recent patch or if they just aren't available as an 80. Either way, if you're an 80 don't waste your time coming back here.

Best Way Imo (If You Are 80 or Have The Ability To Solo Hellfire Ramp/Blood Furnace, Is To Grind Ramp And Furnace For Greens To DE And The NW Cloth To Make NW Belts.

I Found This The Most Efficient(spelling) Way To Get Arcane Dusts.

NOTE: Blood Furnace drops alot more netherweave cloth then ramp, ramp drops runecloth as well

I disenchanted 5 Netherweave Gloves and got 9 Arcane Dusts.... and these are relatively cheap to make.... try other 60-ish greens and stuff

I made Netherweave Bracer's and Disenchanted 'em.

Got 3 Dusts each time. Not so sure you will get it everytime but you save the knothide leather if you make bracers instead of gloves.

Arcane dust def isnt "all but useless" you also need them for tailoring in order to make imbued netherweave u need 3 for one cloth i think

6 bolts of netherweave turn into imbued netherweave with 2 arcane dust. You need to be at a mama loom to make this. Arcane dust sells for an average of 35g a stack on my server dalvengyr. To get the dust you either need to know someone who can dis-enchant or you pay AH price.

Demand for arcane dust as well as primal life, primal water,netherweave and netherweb spider silk will increase now that the primal mooncloth cooldown has been removed. Primal Mooncloth bags are now easier to make.

The 灵纹护腕 along with 灵纹腰带 appear to be the most efficient source of arcane dust for tailors. Here is the actual math:

In Wrath Classic, ignoring the thread, to craft this these costs 3 灵纹布卷 (or 15 灵纹布). On average, disenchanting yields 2.5 奥法之尘.

If we divide the 2.5 by 3 we get 0.83. This means for we get 0.83 奥法之尘 for every 1 灵纹布卷. Going one more step, if we divide 0.83 by we get roughly 0.18. This means for every 1 灵纹布卷 we get 0.18 奥法之尘.

We want this number because if we multiple it times 5, we now know the equivalent price of 奥法之尘 in 灵纹布. If 5 灵纹布 are for sale at a price less than 1 奥法之尘 , it is more profitable to buy 灵纹布,convert into these recipes, and disenchant.

While we ignored the thread earlier, I should also note 符文线 costs 50s before reputation is considered. If margins are super thin and you have low rep with the vendor you're buying your 符文线, note that you add an additional 20s to the total of the 5 灵纹布.
