Although the quest chain is a bit of a pain to do, it is worthwhile IMHO, even if you can get to Outland and get decent gears at lvl 58.

There are three Lightforge pieces that are BoE, so you can pick them up on the AH - bracers, belt and gloves.

Doing the quests to upgrade them to Soulforge means you have a purple item (gloves) and 2 blues when you start Outland. Plus there are some good chunks of XP for the upgrade quests - I think I got 14,300 XP for completeing the gloves and belts upgrade quest chain at level 60.

Get this quest from a female human in the throne room in Ironforge. She's just to the left when you first go into the room.

In comparison to Lightforge, here are the stats:
0 Difference in Armor
+4 Str (98 total)
-31 Agi (0 agility bonus)
-16 Sta (106 total)
+51 Int (104 total)
-25 Spi (44 total)
Healing/Dmg +94, 12m/t, Crit 3%

Notes on Difference:
Agility is taken away but special abilities on pieces offers a +3% chance to crit.
Stamina is lowered causing you to lose 160 HP if you are 300 stamina or below.
Intelligence is greatly increased offering 510 more mana if you do not exceed 300 int.
Spirit is lessened but pieces offer mana regeneration.

Opinion on Upgrade:
The upgrade is worth it. The extra intellect means that you can focus your fingers, neck, back(unless you have +15 FR enchant) and main- and off-hand items on extra fire resist.

Personally, I was hoping that these "0.5" sets would have had more fire resist as a set bonus or on idividual pieces.

You said that there was a 3%crit, but if you actually read the extra stats you would see that it's actually +2%crit chance and +1% crit chance with spells.

is the quest for those parts repetable ... i still have the gloves and bracers ...

is it possible to repeat the quests to get the belt again?

Out of the 4/8 pieces so far...I'm insanely happy for Pallys and have decided to push my 36 to 60 asap. =) Although..now having to 5man for most of my gear..wow, /depressed again.
