When I opened the bag the first time, the only thing that was in it was the letters of where he is. I abandoned the quest and picked it up again, this did not destroy the letters but this time the dust was in the bag, weird.

....wow...i can only hope this actually drops off of Cairne...i would laugh SO hard if he dropped reindeer dust.

Ok fellas this is how the quest goes, You get the quest from Wulmort Jinglepocket outside the IF bank. He gives you the pouch which you open, then take out the letters read it and you have to just pick to go to tanaris and go to the southsea pirates in west tanaris, or go into mines in searing gorge and head north-east. The spawn is random for each quest, for some he will be found in searing gorge and by others in tarnaris. Once you have found Metzen click the dust on him and hooray your done.

The pounch on Reindeer dust is in the bag item you recive when you accept the quest. The bag contains letters and the reindeer dust.

If you dont have the dust already, abandon the quest and start it again. On the second accept you should get it

iff you are looking for the dust then its in the bag the quest giver gives you iff you dont get it the first time or destryed it then abandon the quest and there you go

me and my husband found the reindeer in Searing Gorge, east of Thorium Point, and of course he was being camped like no body's business. It took me 10 minutes to be able to free him because of all the campers. Also the campers don't help keep the dark iron dwarves at bay, they just camp the reindeer and if you die oh well.
