Do remember that the post above was written in patch 2.1.3, the item probably didn't have a set duration then.

If you finish https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=5502 you will lose your whistle but you can get another one just by talking to Orphan Matron Battlewail

I feel sorry for this little guy. His parents were aparently killed while fighting for the Horde. Poor guy. I wish I could take him in and raise him up :)

The item, Rope Pet Leash, XD It works on the Orphans... Not sure if you'd get in trouble sitting in Orgrimmar or Stormwind with an Orphan on a leash buuut.... You know.

I am unable to get the Orcish Orphan Whistle... I have the Bloodelf one, but when I came to the lady in Orgrimmar, she has no quest for me. And I dont already have it somewhere, I checked :). Any ideas?

Can you only do this quest with one of your characters? I did it with my warlock, but I can't open it up for my main character. Nice rep reward though, you get about 1/8 of a bar for all four factions.

you talk to the lady. she gives you a whisle then you blow it and talk to a orphan and get the quests. the orphan disapears when you fly or zep or ship.

Children's Week begins now, with patch 2.1.0. Tuesday, May 22, where I live.

To start the quest, talk with the Matron in front of the Orphanage in the Valley of ... whichever it says above, I forget. She has a dialogue option, so talk with her and she will say something out loud.

Because that talk balloon says for a while, I didn't notice a ! or ? over her head (53 Mage), so there may not be one, possible bug. Or I just didn't notice.

Don't worry, though. After she says what she says, then talk with her again and there will be a quest available. Take the quest and she'll give you the whistle which says it expires after two days. I'm pretty sure it's two days actual time spent online, so you have more than two days to complete the quest. In theory, one could just sign off and sign back on in six months and still have the whistle, if it works like many of the other holiday items.

For a while the Orphan was a really cool Roleplay device. You just never got rid of the whistle if you were an Orc or Human VIOLA! You've got yourself a roleplay child. :D Unfortunatly Blizzard took that away...

Now people will never have children in WoW...
