I love planting the ones I got from my soloing the Doomguard Q in IF or soemthing :P
I seen how long they last, and they -may- be of use, for a few seconds(While being pounded on), but don't count on them giving you a vital edge unless you were trying to gather something.

A random good use for these is to protect your squishy priests during the Moroes fight in Karazhan. I had a bunch from solo farming DM and I would put them down between the priest and their shackle target. It was very effective when shackles randomly broke and the priest had an extra 2 seconds to re-shackle.

These things are also fun to protect the flag with in AB. As they do a pulsing AOE attack for about a minute, two minutes, maybe, just drop them on the flag and then laugh as rogues can't stealth up to it.

When used it grows a big decoy plant monster that attracts enemies to it... haven't used it in combat yet, but I'm guessing it works like a target dummy, sort of.

Do they disappear when you log off? swore I had one yesterday and none now.

They do not disappear when you log out like conjured items do. I've had one on my warlock for months.

Does anyone know how durable the thornling is? I also heard that it has a thorns-type ability on it, is this true?

My favorite use for these is in arena in Stranglethorn. I am not 110% certain, but it appears to interrupt anyone attempting to open the chest. Just plunk down one of these suckers and you are free to fight elsewhere in the arena for a while without the fear of anyone grabbing "your" loot.

Yes, they do work like a target dummy

very useful in ragnaros' sons of flame-phase when you spread the thornlings out, the sons fight them first, and you got the time you need to find your positions.

too sad that their health is very low, suppose around 1000 to 2000 hp

I think based on hurried observation in the middle of combat that they actually do a small amount of damage with each "pulse", maybe at a high threat level.

Great for rogues: you can farm them solo and use them to break up groups of the 3 satyrs in Lethandris' room. Throw down one, kill a satyr, vanish, then just evasion tank through the two others after you get full health.

Wonderful things; they even helped me kill Lethandris herself. They soak up a few spells.

Surprisingly it actually taunts fairly well. It grabs monsters in a Pb-AOE range. Does not have too many hit-points so I would not rely on one of these if solo'ing. Other than that, it's a cool toy to use.

These are really easy to farm on level 70. For most of the Warpwood Pods you don't have to fight anything in Dire Maul East.

Also these can be used on the fight against Lady Vashj in Serpentshrine Cavern to add additional targets for the Toxic Storebats in phase three of the fight against her.
