This drops right off the general np, and its a sure 45G not a bad stop over find doing fragments of past quest

Drops of the rare spawn in Azshara, General Fangferror. Easy to kill, though you have to fight him and two other mobs.

This is a pretty solid sword for the level, and has an alright MH speed. The proc seems to happen rather often, so it adds a nice bonus to your attacks.
If you can get a Doomforged Straightedge for 49, go for it, but there usually aren't many BRD items on the AH, whereas this is easily farmable for an alt, or at least, worth the gold for someone else's alt.
Also, you could, and should, go for a Thrash Blade if you can get a run through Maraudon.

A bit of a sob story for yez.

Upon happening upon this item on WoWhead and seeing the screenshot wherein it sheathes on the back, I decide this is a must-have item for showing off on my 49 warrior twink. I'm not going to use them, but it's a hell of a unique look for when I have him afk making 500+ Netherweave Bandages.

So I park my 67 rogue alt in the temple where General Fangterror spawns. I log in every 18 hours or so and kill him. After about a week and a half, I have two of these swords.

I spend about two hours going through different glows and enchants that would look good crossed on a back. I almost went for healing power just for the sake of absurdity, but I decided on Mongoose.

So, I buy the mats and put Mongoose on both. I mail them over to my warrior and equip them to see how amazingly awesome I now look.

They sheathe on the side. 3 hours and ~1200g wasted. Don't believe the screenshot, and don't make the same mistake I made.

My rogue is mainhanding this while off-handing Hanzo Sword. A very deadly combo--both proc evenly and often, they both compliment each other in speed, damage, and looks, and you tend to get lots of questions. :)

After reading about this guy a had a sneaky plan i logged my lv 70 shammy what i never used took him to the temple and logged him out evey day i would log in and press my mackro to see if hes there after a about a mouth of doing that a ended up with 8 of the blue swords and like 20 greens when my bags are full i will sell um on ah

this is a pretty good offhand weapon, it has a pretty quick speed which is needed huge for an offhand weapon, and it has a good dps. this is definately a weapon worth buying, also if you have Bloodrazor with it, I have both bloodrazor and joon'hos mercy in the bank,

I was just there for the fragments of the past quest and killed this NPC. I was shocked to see a blue item drop. Sold it for 40gp.

I've killed this guy twice and he dropped them both times, i dunno how you manage to miss him, i mean i thought he was a normal mob the first time but when the blue dropped it got mr wondering.. But i mean im 100g richer now that i sold them both.

...as a 45 rogue, I've felt pretty screwed for good 1h sword drops until about level 50 (unless I want to run Z'F a million times and go for the pair). Until you get Hanzos or the Thrash Blade, this sword is your best bet if you have a 60 to farm it. Hanzo's is a random world drop, and Rogues have a tough enough time getting into instances. This is a fairly consistent drop, it's non-unique so you can have two, with decent damage output and standard rogue-level speed. Also brings a fair price being a BoE.

It's a boat ride and gryffon flight away for most Alliance, and I check the Temple every 3 days or so, usually late at night; I have gotten the sword to drop twice in about 6-8 kills. He spawns every day or so (I've heard 12 hours and I've heard More) I think it's about 25% drop rate, but it's fairly little effort to equip my combat rogue with Dual Joonho's, and the fight is easily soloable.

Put a +dmg enchant and instant poisons on them both, and you can do a TON of damage in a hurry when the weapon and poisons proc. Plus it looks like a little katana, so having two of them glowing blue is just too cool to pass up. And if you're sick of your bank balance sitting there, it's an easy 30-50g every so often.

I got this on my first try and I wasnt even looking for it :D Im gonna see if i can get another one and sell them as a pair. About the guy who said he paid 8g for it, what server was that whoever sells this thing for 8g is retarded. You should at least be able to get 20g for it. Im hoping to sell the pair for 70g.

I was checking AH to get an off-hand sword for my rogue alt, saw joonho for 50g then got here to see where it drops. Went there with my main mage lvl 70, i saw general, killed him with 1 fireball + fireblast and it droped sword :)

LOL i hate it when you noobs say that silver dragon means its the same as normal mob just rare...in SOME cases this is true but it most the silver dragon mobs are stronger than normal mobs.

The mob is NOT stronger when being rare. However, rare mobs are often elite too.

This is a silly question of weapons usage but I'd like some input. I'm currently a Level 45 Blood Elf Rogue (Assassination: 26, Combat: 9, Subtlety: 0) and recently acquired this baby on the AH. I've been focusing on using a dagger in main hand, with sword off hand. I've got a Rune Sword of the Monkey in the bank waiting for me to use. Am I better off with that one or this one? If someone could answer my question, that'd be great. Thanks

This sword is more suited as an offhand for a combat rogue. Because of its quick speed, you can put a slower sword in the main hand (Bloodrazor, Phantom Blade, whatev) and still have the weapons calibrated properly. And if you have dual-wield specialization, this thing is sick. So to answer your question, I'd say neither sword would be better for you...stick with duel daggers or respec to combat.

This sword is OK for a rogue, the 2.1 speed isn't very great for any offhand of mainhand, although its a little better for offhand. Picked this up for 20g on the AH and gave it a try, meh, its probably a good grinding sword but i don't think its good for pvp.

Protector's Sword
Thrash Blade
Shadowblade
Bloodrazor Bloodrazor kinda sucks imo
Gut ripper surprisingly yes
Doomforged Straightedge SICK WEAPON.

Who makes up these AH prices on the item description here in Thottbot? 69g? Lucky if it sell for 45g. Only sold for 38g on Blackwater Raiders. Alot of latency in the pricing department people.

You really wouldn't want this weapon an active weapon. Your best bet would be to go with the Thrash blade

You'll be looking at ~3% proc rate with this sword. It doesn't seem like much, but it really does proc quite often for the amount of damage the proc does.

Was on the second floor of the Temple of Zinn-Malor in Azshara.
This is a decent drop rate - great to farm for an alt, but probably not worth the time for AH farming. I got the blade on my first kill.

finally got it on my 4th try... the respawn timer doesn't seem to be 12h. I've killed him and came back 12h later, not there. killed the whole temple twice, no respawn of him.

according to the dps cosmos ui its proc'd 40 times in 2000 swings, though it is in my offhand. still...i dont think thats too good...

i found him first time killed him got the sword but i couldnt find him on my track humanoids and ive never been able to get him again still ok farming in the area zesty clam meat for my pet :D

I swear they nerfed the drop rate and General Fangferror. General Fangferror is now lower level and I have killed him 30 times with no drop. I used loot at least 4 a day and make nearly 200g selling them. So much for that money making idea.

hehe i was just running around azshara today doin the Arcane ruins quest and i saw him and killed him. And the sword dropped :D. Too bad i have fire breather and trash blade, but im gonna sell it for hopefully 50g. Is it like the Blade of the Basilisk in terms of popularity?
